Lifetime movie of the week: Waitress

I am sometimes curious what flavor of social and familial poison the Lifetime channel is serving up, so I’ll check out the description on our cable’s guide section.  What is fascinating is they don’t even feel the need to sugar coat what they are selling, because they know no one will call them on it.  I know I can’t change the world, but a little sunlight would seem like a good thing.

I’m not able to confirm either of my theories of what they used for a working title for this movie, but I’m guessing:

  • My mother was a whore (has a nice ring, don’t you think?)
  • I was a pregnant slut

Feel free to suggest your own working titles.  Anyway, as you can see from the description this is a touching movie about a pregnant married woman who wasn’t haaaaaapy.  Oh no!

OMG, I think I may have actually seen that movie. I was once home from work, sick with flu. I fell asleep on the couch only awaken to some tripe involving pies and an OB/GYN. That must have been it.

And to think I blamed the flu for the vomiting!

Here’s the perfect answer, just to a different question.

Empowered Man Murders Controlling Wife In Lifetime For Men Original Movie from The Onion.

The new made-for-television movie A Just Killing—the inspiring true story of a man who finds his own inner strength by murdering his needy, overbearing wife—premiered on Lifetime for Men this past Saturday, earning the network its highest ever ratings.

    Maybe someday.

How about “How I Made Peace With My Inner Skank”

    [D: Nice!]

Yes the Onion did that one up pretty well I think.

Guardial that is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a long time! The headline itself was funny, but the full article is pure gold.

Her having an affair with her gynecologist reminds me of a great line from Dracula Dead and Loving it. Skip to 3 min 0 seconds:

It’s billed as comedy? o_O That Onion piece is, as usual, hilarious. I’m glad I don’t have cable or watch TV – every time I go back and look after some time away it just gets worse.

Well, the baker/heroine of the movie and her gyno had a lot in common. They both had their hands in a lot of pies.
