From the Daily Mail: Brave female Papa Johns manager tackles pair of Ferguson looters with her bare hands as they kick in windows… and quickly sends them packing
Yet neither the text nor the video support such a claim. Instead of a feminist hero tackling thugs with nothing but the power of moxie, what the video shows is a modern day Blanche DuBois relying on the kindness of looters.
The comments are nearly as funny as the headline. Some celebrate her girlpower, while another bemoans the lack of a white knight riding to her rescue.
This is what it takes, more good people standing up to these backward thugs and saying enough. She has more b a l l s than most men I know.
As is Lea:
What a great woman! She has shown real courage! This is how people should be.
But summers53 was alarmed that the manager was permitted to put herself in danger.
A woman is being pushed around and threatened and a guy is filming it. What is wrong with people today?!
Edit: I found the same video on youtube:
Long ago I was on a bulletin board. Someone posted a news story from Canada: A street gang attacked a woman. She screamed for help. A man ran to her rescue, allowing the woman to escape. The gang severely beat up the man, stabbing him, requiring him to be hospitalized.
Everyone on the board praised the man’s heroism.
Then I suggested it’d have been better if the man had had a gun.
Everyone, the women especially, attacked my “gun-crazy” attitude. They said this would have led to a deadly gun battle, and would only have made matters worse. That they were glad Canada made guns hard to get.
I thought it was interesting that the women expected men to run to a woman’s rescue, while at the same time wanted him to do so unarmed.
Pingback: More feminist make-believe | Manosphere.com
She was frankly stupid and very lucky that she only was shoved around a bit. And she was smart enough not to attack the men with her “powerful” bare hands, or she would have gotten some good beatings for sure.
The men decided it was not worth to attack a woman for looting a Papa John’s. If it had been a male manager, he would have gotten his ass kicked.
The woman is a sign of our idiotic feminist times – being lauded for having done something stupid. She did not fight them at all, but was just very luck, that men still treat women very differently to men – I guess the rape culture does not exist in Ferguson – only in predominantly white college campuses.
I always thought the success of Gandhi’s nonviolent resistance was a credit to the British Empire, not Gandhi, because the Brits could have crushed him at will. Same thing here. Women are going to have a brutally hard wakeup once the number of legitimately misogynist men reaches critical mass and grrlpower & threatpoint loses out to testosterone & physics.
Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
CNN’s Atlanta office sent most of their employees home at lunch yesterday; they brought in enough food to ensure the remaining skeleton crew could stay overnight; then they locked the doors.
The store should have been closed before dark. Any thing of value should have been locked in the back, and the security gate (if they had one) pulled down and locked. She should have been at home instead of trying to sell pizzas in the middle of a riot.
She should have been armed with a .40 cal. handgun. The goblins respect that more.
This Girl deserves cudos as she was very brave standing up to the thugs. Regardless of the fact that maybe she got a pass because she’s a woman. The media does what the media does……”Titles articles to get the most clicks”. I wouldn’t blame the Feminists for this one.
Yeah in the video she neither tackles them or fights them with her bare hands. She gets shoved and the looters look like they gave up after they couldn’t break the window.
She’s lucky they didn’t go more feral on her.
“Regardless of the fact that maybe she got a pass because she’s a woman.”
Woman as in “not a serious threat”, maybe. I hope for her sake she wasn’t trying as “untouchable goddess” or “Soviet commissar”.
Someone should tell that woman that Katniss Everdeen is a completely fictional character and a corporate pizza franchise isn’t District 12. She is lucky the rioters only shoved her; if they were high on PCP that would have been a completely different outcome.
I an fluent in both lip-reading and body-language and I can thus reveal that she was lecturing those two men on how she can do everything a man can do, the equal division of household chores and how her last boyfriend respected her opinion and treated her nicer than they do. It is for that reason that the two men felt it necessary to take out their frustrations on the unbreakable windows of Papa Johns. All hail to the V.
They were interested in a property crime to get the rich man. She had to move into the way to get their attention. They were just not interested in hurting somebody. I guess the commenter above was right the rape culture must only exist at 30k year white colleges
Its possible that she just told them (at the end) that if they destroy that place of business, it is likely that she would lose her job, that it would be their fault that she lost her job. That might have been enough to get them to back away and move on to the next business owned by a rich man.
“A woman is being pushed around and threatened and a guy is filming it. What is wrong with people today?!”
Fully realizing that the question is redundant, I once again ask: why would any StrongEmpoweredWoman[TM] need the help of any man?
In this case the SEW was able to repel the big, bad, rapey black thugs with her mere presence and silver tongue, so what good would some nutless “man” have done?
This commenter needs to quitterbitchin and find her own balls again.
That was a woman?
@ Thomas
“I thought it was interesting that the women expected men to run to a woman’s rescue, while at the same time wanted him to do so unarmed.”
Running to her armed would have been an act of righteous justice. It would not have supported hyper gamy or the feminine imperative.
You must run to her attackers, be stabbed, hopefully die, and give your possessions to her, while she fornicates with her former attackers (now lovers).
‘A woman is being pushed around and threatened and a guy is filming it. What is wrong with people today?!’
The problem with people today is that most don’t understand their own limitations. Women especially with the you go grrl delusions of grandeur. Men have a pretty good idea what happens when the get inject themselves into a fight they weren’t involved with in the first place.
Women need to understand that if they get themselves into a fight…it’s up to them to get out of it. This is the future they created because they didn’t need a man.
@Earl
“Women need to understand that if they get themselves into a fight…it’s up to them to get out of it. This is the future they created because they didn’t need a man.”
They need to understand nothing. Let the hand touch the stove, the burning is the lesson. The burning is the entertainment. The burning is the justice.
Smart women understand that it is not in their best interests to put themselves in danger like that. Hopefully the dumb ones teach them that lesson.
@Earl
“Smart women”
HA……Ha…..ha
It is my most sincere and dearest prayer to my god that the women of America receive everything they wish for.
I always thought the success of Gandhi’s nonviolent resistance was a credit to the British Empire, not Gandhi
Hear, hear. Nonviolence only works against the good leaders of a civilized society, not the barbarian. Just think of trying it against Attila the Hun, or even Rome.
Woman escapes a relatively dangerous physical altercation with men = Feminist triumphalism
Woman severely beaten in a dangerous physical altercation with men = Culture of Misogyny
You get out enough and find some that get it. The ones that don’t are more advertised and have the spotlight on them more. They’ll get everything they wish for.
That’s one lucky woman, right there. She could very easily have had her head bashed in. A man doing that probably would have. She wasn’t even armed. She probably has no idea that the only reason she did not die trying to defend insured commercial property (how freaking stupid is that, anyway?) is because a couple of inner-city thugs had enough vestigial chivalry – in the middle of a riot – to not curb-stomp a girl who went out of her way to confront them.
Like new anon said, “Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.“
She’s not being brave and not being necessarily stupid, either. She’s defending her career. If this pizza joint gets destroyed, she has to start over at another Papa John’s. All of the feminist efforts before her, all of the grrrl power, and her college education amount to nothing if this pizza place gets shut down.
She has likely sacrificed marriage, children, and anything meaningful to pursue her Papa John’s career, so she might as well throw her life on the table as well.
Dalrock man, I feel like the nature of your posts changed. You used to give us beautiful essays with elaborate number crunching, now this stuff wouldn’t make the front page of /r/theredpill.
I just noticed the end of the audio portion. The black girls who live there are a lot less naive about what it means to confront young black males when they’re “getting their riot on.”
Although she’s not on camera, the last few seconds of audio captures the voice of an obviously-black female rioter exclaiming in incredulity, “Oh my God! She’s gonna’ put her life in danger… over a Papa John’s!”
You can bet the local “Shaniqua’s” know better than to try that.
@elovesc34
I can’t imagine spilling blood over a corporate pizza storefront, doubly so given that the corporation would likely fire me for doing so. Not to mention that I think the brand in question had made a production of providing free pizza to the demonstrators the last time around. The only thing more foolish than spilling blood for the corporate pizza storefront would be to threaten to spill blood and not be prepared to do so. Armed or otherwise, the wise choice would have been to go home safely to your family.
@DangerZone
This is true. I’ve prioritized family over blogging, plus I don’t have as much lately that I wish to write about in depth.

This is proof women can serve in infantry. All they need to do is reason with the enemy, like we elected Obama to reason with Iran n stuff. Everyone loves women, and freedom, and democracy, we just need women to show them the light.
This is also proof that the new laws feminists pass make a difference. Clearly, these young men knew that if they touched in the slightest, they’d go to jail with a restraining order. And they didn’t show their guns because that would also be illegal “menacing.”
Gunner Q, Regarding your comments about Ghandi. This reminds me of a line by Thulsa Doom in the Conan movie. Steel is strong, but flesh is stronger.
Sure your guns may be effective, but against hoardes and hoardes and hoardes of angry flesh ? Or in the case of a zombie apocalypse, angry rotting flesh.

Elsewhere in the androsphere I was given this reference by jf12:
Gottman, J.M., (1991). Predicting the longitudinal course of marriages, Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, 17 (1), 3-7.
It turns out that this paper is often cited in various publications (some peer reviewed) and books.
Apparently Gottman did research in the late 1980’s that was quite scientific. Married couples would spend time (24 or more hours) in a mock hotel suite while being video and audio recorded. Biological samples were taken specifically looking for cortisol in the man and women. Some sort of blood pressure monitoring was performed, especially on the men.
The results appear to be well supported by observation and data that can be obtained in a repeatable fashion. Four predictors of divorce were offered:
Wife showing contempt during conflict with the husband
Husband and wife being defensive
Wife complaining, husband stonewalling (Demand/withdraw pattern)
Wife emotionally detached
Not to toot my own horn, but I reasoned out three of the four on my own over the last few years, with the physical impact on the husband of wifely contempt becoming clear in my mind in the last 6 months. Finding that someone did extensive research over 20 years ago on this very topic on the one hand is quite satisfying because my reasoning is shown to be sound, but it is also quite disturbing on the other hand…because I shouldn’t have to figure this stuff out on my own, it should be common knowledge that contempt displayed in LTR / marriage situations has real, repeatable, physical effects on a man than will be harmful if repeated long enough. Yet it’s like some hidden secret path in the forest.
Other work done in 1998 added to this list. Gottman and his wife have a “marriage lab” in Washington located on an island out in Puget sound.
http://www.gottmancouplesretreats.com/
I’ve learned the hard way to always start with primary sources. So far I have only found references to the paper above, but not the paper itself. If anyone has found that paper, online or physically, I would very much like a pointer to it.
Added value: today I ran across a relaxation technique first formalized in the 1920’s (but I’m sure it is much older) that appears to work well in tandem with physical exercise to relieve stress:
http://www.guidetopsychology.com/pmr.htm
Some may find this simple de-stressing technique to be of use. It is something a man can do on his own, irrespective of how others act or react.
On topic: As Dalrock essentially noted in the OP, there is a continual search within feminism and the media (but I repeat myself) to find some really moxie-filled Laura Croft woman who is the absolute equal of men. Perhaps this is a form of the doubling-down TFH predicts? Certainly it amounts to a wilful and deliberate denial of reality in order to support an increasingly bankrupt ideology. Because if men and women are exactly the same except women can have babies, there must logically be some woman, some where, who can do anything a man can do (and better, and in high heels, etc.).
To admit that there are not women who can stand toe to toe with a rioter and win damages the interchangeability premise, and thus to damage a pillar of feminism. Therefore these “news” stories are nothing more or less than propaganda designed to reinforce the “total equality” paradigm. The mass media have no choice but to generate and propagate these stories, because they are pushing against reality, and if they stop pushing then reality will be seen.
Pace’ TFH we should expect more such “just like a man”, “Laura Croft Lives!” stories over the next few years, as the disconnect between feminist ideology and reality becomes increasingly obvious. Because the choice for feminists and their media sock puppets is stark: either shout “equal!” along with “men bad! women good!” louder and louder, or accept reality. Feminists have never been good with reality, so shouting ever louder is the only choice .
This means that such Laura Croft news stories will become more and more shrill, and even absurd, eventually bordering on self parody. At some point this claim will become laughable to the general public, and then we should see a paradigm shfit.
In the mean time, it’s the job of the righteously angry men to point out the ludicrousness of “one woman, one riot” propaganda in any way that works. Earnest logical argumentation or sarcastic parody, whatever a man feels he’s good at. Consider it another way to push back against the propaganda and lies of feminism.
With all the laws behind them backing them up, women, if anything, seem to believe that they are impervious to physical attack from men, more powerful than men, and in a better, safer position than a man in the same situation. The women believe their own bulls**t, believe their own make-believe: that a man’s conscience about women being the weaker vessel, and the laws favouring women across the board, put her in a more powerful, impervious position, and will save her from the beating a man would get in the same situation. She is just extremely lucky in this particular case.

When the dictator, Ferdinand Marcos was in power in the Philippines, Corazon Aquino opposed him. He sent tanks. There is a scene which apparently is pre-internet archival showing a nun in the path of a tank saying “I am your sister, your mother, and your daughter”. The people in the tank didn’t go further.
That is the power of the feminine.
There is something in the masculine which will not engage in such an unequal fight. The feminine can win by saying “what victory is there in overcoming a clearly weaker opponent – who is in the right”.
tz2026 says,
Yeah… no man would ever do that…. certainly not this man in the 1989 Tiananmen Square Protest.
The Philippines is an overwhelmingly Catholic country, so a nun standing in front of a tank would expect them to stop. Appeals to the higher good often work on people who accept that there is such a thing as the higher good, such as Catholic tank crews. The male student in Tiananmen Square was really taking his life in his hands, since he was relying on the tank commander’s sense of decency in a nation where religion is severely repressed – a gamble for which he paid a steep price once the cameras were no longer rolling. (As I recall, they waited until later to drag him off to be “re-educated” in the Bamboo Gulag.) The woman in Ferguson knows good and well that men don’t typically hit women, and she played the odds and won. It was still a bad bet, since the payoff was slight compared to the cost if she bet wrong. But it is a great and largely unacknowledged aspect of Female Privilege that women can do usually get away with things that would probably get a man killed or beaten.

Same with that ‘amazing’ woman pilot who is dropping bombs on ISIS.. it’s comical really. Agree and amplify though, send the American women in to mop up the last vestiges of ISIS, should work a charm. No more male lives!

I like the voice of reason from the incredulous woman at the end of the video who asked, ““She’s going to put her life in danger…over a Papa John’s?” What the woman standing in front of the restaurant did, whether she was actually the manager or just a Good Samaritan as claimed by the Daily Mail now, wasn’t worth being “brave” over unless she was protecting some unseen individual inside the restaurant or something. For that matter, maybe she knew the men outside and was trying to protect them from their own criminal actions. In any case, restaurant and store employees often instruct people not to be heroes just to protect money or property, and I basically agree with that, except that people being robbed at gunpoint may have no way of knowing where the perp will stop at just taking money and belongings. In the case of this video, though, it appears everyone was already out of harm’s way, and this lady needlessly put herself in harm’s way to protect something that the insurance company can replace.

These are two different things. It’s doubtful she was in danger of being destitute from this, even this was her own business, and it may not have been from the looks of things. Our store insurance covered the first incident, and the driver’s insurance covered the second one.

This philosophy gets reinforced as I see how much property rights are devalued in the name of “human rights” these days.
Well stated. It seems like these days property has no value anymore — or, more accurately, people are not permitted to value their property. “It’s just ‘stuff’.” – “Things that can be replaced.” – that kind of thing. And how, dear statists, is ‘stuff’ to be acquired? Through labor, of course. And forcing someone to labor without reward is — slavery, is it not?
‘It seems like these days property has no value anymore — or, more accurately, people are not permitted to value their property.’
Another downside to no fault divorce.
A 1856 ominous prediction about connection between unrestrained female feelings and debt slavery:
Unrestrained feelings, in general, will lead to all manner of problems.
A large number of people seem to think that freedom must mean that there are a lack of restrictions/constraints. However, I see this as an illusion.
In the financial example above, if I restrain my spending to be within my means, and rather than entering into debt, I save… then if I truly need to make a purchace (such as to replace my car, or such as to pay for an expensive surgery that is not covered by my insurance), I have the freedom to do so. Further, I am likely to have a higher spending power over all by not entering into debt.
If I constrain my eating now, then I will have more of the freedoms that good health brings in the future, rather than being bed-bound by my own fat.
Of course, actually exercising these constraints takes practice, and denial of one’s own physical desires. It also, often, requires us to rely on the lord.
Galations 5:15-24 – http://biblehub.com/nasb/galatians/5.htm
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17 For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. 19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Romans 6:15-18: http://biblehub.com/nasb/romans/6.htm
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! 16 Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
I was talking to my friend yesterday. ‘Have you heard of the present Dr Pankhurst’ he enquired. I hadn’t. ‘She writes for various publications’ he said ‘and has been complaining that there are not enough women in top positions. My friend is too blue-pill for my taste and had never previously come across the word Hypergamy – which I had to explain. Even so, he said he replied to her in the comment section that one never sees female dustmen – refuse disposal collectors, to give them their full title.
I mention the above because my road is being tarted-up, to make it look like a pedestrian precinct. The work has been going on for two months now, and I have been watching the progress, talking to the workers and generally marveling at how – there were twelve of them today – they work as a team – no dramas, nor squabbles, nor skiving off. I need hardly add that they are all male (and white). Doubtless they are deliberately preventing women from becoming road-workers, but I can only imagine that if so much as one women came on board, then (provided she was not hideous) the men would be vieing for her attention, helping her out,and generally ceasing to be as affective as a team. Two women would have the females complaining about inappropriate male attention, demanding sacking and a female-centric work environment.
Those men are out there, before the crack of dawn, and even as I write now, in the dark they are still at it – I can hear the glopita glopita machine – mercifully it is milder today and not raining but colder or rainier weather they take in their stride, dirty hands, dirty overalls in the mud on their knees, enduring the endless noise of the drills. I think we can safely say that they are unlikely to be joined by any females.
Opus,
In a couple of ways those guys have it better than than the corporate drones in the co-ed cube farms, although I suspect the pay is a noticeably lower. Anyway, I’m not sure of the social conventions over there: have you offered the men a spot o’ tea, or is that not something that one does?
@Lyn87
I have not offered tea – as, to tell the truth, I do not have twelve tea cups – only elderly females may offer tea without it being suspected that there is an ulterior motive. These guys are male, and white as I said but also 100% Heterosexual and would mistake my concern for something else. When I speak to them I adopt my working man’s attitude that we are all in this together.
Opus,
Got it. I’m the first to admit that I’m not very “handy,” so when something breaks in my house – unless it is pretty minor – I generally have to call someone to fix it. Those workers are invariably male. While they are at my house I make it a point to treat them with the same level of courtesy as guests, rather than as Servants of My Royal Majesty, so I tell them where the restrooms are and offer them something to drink (water… coffee… whatever I have in the refrigerator). If they decline I show them where the glasses are in case they change their minds. If I see one of the local work crews outside and have occasion to talk to them I usually offer them something as a courtesy. Sometimes they take me up on the offer, sometimes not.
How is it that blacks’ higher testosterone levels relative to whites coincides with blacks having aggregate lower IQs, but men’s higher T coincides with higher IQs compared to women? That has baffled me for a long time.
“A woman is being pushed around and threatened and a guy is filming it.”
Smart man… You never know how women will respond to a guy jumping into the fray. I saw this personally when I was small. A woman was being hit by a guy, so another guy jumped in to help – while he was confronting the man, the woman attacks him from behind clawing at his (the helper’s) face and screaming at him – other pulled her off him and someone called the police. The guy (helper) took the time to slip away. But women are psycho – never assume that just because she is being smacked around, that she doesn’t like it… Stupid female logic…

I know a few high school teachers (all male). They all tell me how the young men in their classes talk about not getting married (not necessarily with the teachers directly), and even avoiding relationships entirely. Plenty of them saw their fathers (or friends fathers) decimated by divorce. I think that kills any interest in marriage quite convincingly. Once it becomes understood amongst peers, it’s very hard to eradicate.

This is undoubtedly welcome news among their female peers, of course. No evil, oppressive, undesirable males will seek to have any kind of relationship or possibly even any kind of interaction with them at all — this news should have them dancing in the streets. It’s what they want, after all.

I left an anonymous post over there. I suspect they will take it down. I mean they are comparing the entirety of the men’s right’s movement to Julian Blanc. Seriously, they don’t have a clue. They need red pills.
@ Opus
Why, I do believe today is Thursday 27th November 2014. Reflect, that had we not kicked the Bible-thumping[edited from “bashing”], Gun-toting, Rum-Drinking [edit-to-add] Psycho-Christians (i.e. Puritans) off our Island – so that we might enjoy the Renaissance in at least, comparative peace – you, none of you, would be skiving off work or participating in Turkey Genocide.
Yeah, that way the Rum-Drinkers, when leaving the Netherlands (as opposed to nether regions) could say, “We’ve been kicked out of better places than this.”
I suspect they will take it down. I mean they are comparing the entirety of the men’s right’s movement to Julian Blanc. Seriously, they don’t have a clue. They need red pills.
Nothing new there. The promotion of the baseless and deliberately misleading parallel between radical feminists and men’s rights supporters is a repeated tactic of social conservatives.
On a different note, I find it very telling that there’s a proliferation of blogs and websites specifically intented to discredit and attack not only the Manosphere but anyone who questions the hegemonic ideology of the ruling system. These media pundits are so pampered and full of themselves that they can’t tolerate the mere existence of dissidents. It enrages them that there’s actually opposition to their rule, even if it takes the form of a bunch of people blogging, mostly anonymously. Again, it’s to be expected. There’s nothing new under the Sun.
They’re now at a point where their power is so entrenched that they have to invent enemies out of thin air to justify their policies. Hence we see an ongoing media campaign imploring people to fight a mythical, horribly evil two-headed online monster, the PUA-MRA alliance. The same thing happened in the USSR, where Stalin and his cronies invented underground resistance movements like the Industrial Party and the Trotskyite terrorist network, and then went on to persecute their “members”. They did this because there weren’t actually any real enemies left to fight and eliminate.
This was forwarded to me. I don’t know what The Gospel Coalition is but it appears to be evangelical and the site some sort of aggregator.
http://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/how-the-normalization-of-pornography-fuels-the-rape-culture
The authors appear to be related, one a law student, the other a philosophy major who now has a job. I read down to the point where this text was found:
Pornography presents women as inferior — Feminist Andrea Dworkin once said “equality cannot co-exist with rape . . . and it cannot co-exist with pornography . . . because implicit in [both] is the inferiority of women.”
And there you have it. Once again the tradcon / feminist alliance on display, right out in the open.
How is this for manginas doubling down
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/11/26/what-trait-do-bill-cosby-s-defenders-share.html
This mangina says that the rape laws give too much unwanted attention to due process, women are not believed enough, and accused men are not punished enough.
It is mangina-time!!
Well, it’s not like we can expect anything different from The Daily Beast. On the other hand, I suppose it’s simply that feminists and their ideological opponents are talking past each other on this issue.
Feminists claim that a) the majority of rapes are never reported and b) the majority of apprehended rapists are either freed or given some light sentence because, well, “rape culture” and all that. Their opponents point out that a significant segment of rape allegations are false, and the authorities grossly mishandle these cases i.e. makers of false accusations are not punished, and their victims are ignored. I’d say it’s entirely possible that all this is actually taking place at the same time, to varying degrees.
we can safely assume that many real acts of rape are perpetrated against children and young people by family members, or people they know and trust. Stepfathers, mom’s new sleazebag boyfriend, coaches, teachers etc. It’s conceivable in these cases that victims are reluctant to press charges, for various reasons. It’s also probable that there’s a small group of serial rapists out there, many of whom are psychopaths and/or men with high social status, and they’re mostly alphas. In most of these cases they commit rape but not “rape-rape”, as Whoopi Goldberg would say. Again, it’s conceivable that many of them are never prosecuted, and even when arrested and tried, they get a light sentence due to the lack of hard evidence and whatnot.
hoellen,
For the life of me, I could not understand why ABC and 20/20 agreed to interview Paul Elam. It was as if they had nothing to gain from doing so. Then it became all too clear why they did it (which is the same reason why they would not air it), to show the public the manosphere in a negative light in an effort to discredit and diminish it. Because Paul never lost his cool and was dealing from a position of pure logic and common sense (and kept returning to that premise every single time the ever enraged interviewer tried to derail him) the couldn’t air the interview. They just couldn’t do it because there was no way to edit Elam down into a fool. His responses made entirely too much sense.
Ther same is true of these blogs. I remember a couple months ago someone tried to appeal to wordpress to get Dalrock’s blog taken down instead of coming here to argue with Dalrock. They never posted here, ust tried to do an end around to remove the blog. That is really what the hegemonic ideology of the ruling system is forced to do, try to appeal to people in positions of authority over these blogs and have them removed because they can’t argue with people like Dalrock. Its an effort in futility. And they don’t want ordinary people to be philisophical about this whole feminism vs patriarchy thing, they most certainly do NOT want people to start to think. To do so only further diminishes feminism
MV,
We have hundreds of thousands (maybe a million) Madam Bovaries now but instead of just cheating on their husbands and buying things they can’t afford until the debt forces them to commit suicide (rather die than take accountability), they just sleep with 40+ different guys over 4+ years of college and accumulate $100K in student loan debt to earn that super easy women’s studies degree. And instead of committing suicide to welch on the debt (since you can’t bankrupt yourself out of student loan debt) they just read all sorts of how to catch a man books and expect their husbands to bail them out. Its all the same.
Flaubert had a crystal ball. He could see the future.
IBB, that’s very interesting about Paul Elam and that interview. Do you know of a link to it on youtube.com or somewhere so we can watch it?
I only saw the same 80 seconds of the 20/20 interview on youtube that we all saw. Its out there. I can’t find it from work. But the interview was long and if you read what Paul Elam wrote about it on his own blog after, you get the idea that ABC was never going to air it. They just could not paint him as an irrational woman hater no matter how hard the interviewer tried.
Its like George Stephanapolus’s interview with the cop with Ferguson after he quit the force on Saturday. George did everything he could to make the man look like this horrible murderer but the cop (now former cop) stayed right on point stipulating that his training took over when he shot and killed Michael Brown. He said the only emotion he was feeling was fear for his life. Because the cop didn’t come off like a racist or anything that fits the liberal narrative, we don’t get the whole interview.
Dalrock @ November 26, 2014 at 1:41 pm:
“I’ve prioritized family over blogging, plus I don’t have as much lately that I wish to write about in depth.”
Dalrock, could you do a post on your blogging experiences? I’ve been thinking about starting a blog with the new year and would like to hear about others’ experiences… probably not the only guy, either.
Well, duh. What else did you think?
Having said that, this isn’t the path they are likely to choose in most cases. They don’t actually want to interact with the ‘sphere in any way. They don’t want to talk to their ideological opponents. They’ll simply start even more websites dedicated to discrediting and slandering the ‘sphere, and they’ll resort to the same old methods: cherry-picking quotes and taking them out of context, erecting strawmen, regurgitating the same old talking points, and lots and lots of snark.
It is like with drunk driving: those of a certain age and older all remember when there was a lot more tolerance of it into the early 80’s, then the hammer started falling on drunk drivers. Go price out the cost of just one drunk driving conviction, let alone two. That hammer was an inevitable consequence of having the costs of drunk driving accidents reach deeper and deeper into society.
In the same manner, we have seen over 40 years of no fault divorce reaching into every corner of the country so now take a look at men under 40, under 30, then under 20. They are not likely to be acquainted with the manosphere, but they are definitely acquainted with frivolous divorce initiated by women in their families as well as their friends. This is not to say there aren’t real cases of what Dr Laura called the 3 A’s: abuse, addiction and/or affairs or that there are no bad men. Everyone agrees they exist, but the existence of frivolity in women-initiated divorce simply cannot be denied anymore by anyone who has eyes to see. Dalrock’s greatest service has been to draw on the available data to build a solid case for the frequency of frivolous divorce and the social mindset that pushes it.
It is coming as TFH says, after 2015, if any man gets ground up due to his blue pill orientation, it will be his own fault for not seeing it all around him. So it should not surprise anyone that we’re seeing ever greater resistance to the dissemination of the truth. The mainstream cannot stand for that truth to get out. If anyone thinks the resistance looks bad now, just you wait, you haven’t seen bad yet. Let alone worse. But there is only so much wool they have, there are too many holes in it for those who can see.
Unfortunately they are blue pill so it doesn’t matter. We all remember the way we used to “think” when we were blue pill. We didn’t think. I know I sure didn’t. I was convinced all divorces were HIS fault because HE cheated or HE hit her. All she had to say was she was abused and I didn’t dig any deeper. And for those who were blue pill, if the divorce didn’t happen to THEIR parents then…. it didn’t happen. It reminds me of when I was 20 and my father informed me that my uncle did NOT want to get divorced (that it was all my aunt’s doing “unilaterally”) and my only reaction was…. so? That didn’t mean anything to me. My dad expected me to be angry at my aunt and I was like… whatever. That didn’t mean anything to me because their marriage did not mean anything to me. Just being the nephew didn’t bring me close enough, didn’t hurt me enough personally. And because I was so desensitized to divorce (seeing so many of them around me) the entire concept of ending a marriage just didn’t bother me. But more to the point, many of these blue pill men under the age of 30 or even 40 are so self-centered that they don’t concern themselves with the destruction of marriage and what that means to society as a whole. If it is not their marriage, they don’t give a damn. Its typically only after getting the red pill before they do give a damn. Red pills make you… care about others.
“Unfortunately they are blue pill so it doesn’t matter.”
That isn’t how it will play out because feminism, like all communist plots, burns the future to fuel the present… and today’s new generation was fuel for the previous two generations. First the boys watched their friends’ mothers frivorce. Then their own mothers frivorced, destroying their happy childhood. Now they’re sullen young men staring at openly hypergamous sluts and wondering if they want to end up like the father they barely remember. At this point, there’s no need for red-pill textbooks.
You can’t stay in the Matrix after the system flushes you out.

Marcus, that Swedish lion is a perfect fit. Any man who fights for Sweden is an emasculated coward and traitor! Absolutely fits perfectly, bravo!
Only the change of the shade of background tincture is an improvement there.
Marcus D,
About that lion symbol…
Well, this is getting intolerably silly…
Suppose there was a lobby to cut off the breasts of the mermaid statue in Copenhagen (‘den lille havfrue’ as it is known) because men felt ‘uncomfortable’ looking at the statue because they themselves do not have breasts…
Can you imagine the outcry that would ensue?
What those Swedish military men should argue is that removing the genitalia of the lion is tantamount to mutilation, in a similar manner to FGM. That should do the trick. If they are to successfully fight feminists, the should use the arguments that feminists would use, I suppose…
No. “If they are to successfully fight feminists”, they should as FH says, ignore the heck out of the Army, until it and Clarence the Cockless Lion get their mojo back. Better off joining a refuse crew, less danger of being hounded out of your job by “equalists”.
Let strong independent heroic wimminz pick up that pack (and skis), they will obviously excel at anything they set their hand to, far far better than weak lazy menz, and will have the bits of paper to prove it, see? Plus think of all the welfare bennies and the social status included in the package, what’s not to like, girls?

With shows like these, one still wonders why many American women still want to get married.
It’s never too late to look for love, even after having sex with ten thousand men.
So, guys, you all need to hurry up and wife up this treasure before some other man gets her. With her experience and great looks, I’m pretty certain she won’t stay long on the shelf. And to those of you who are quick to judge, remember, the good book says not to judge; we are all entitled to make mistakes.
I think we have to remain very patient with guys still hooked up to the system. As time passes from my first moment of freedom (such as it is), I find it harder and harder to accept guys who are deep in Blue Pill. However, I make an effort to remind myself that there were guys who tried to wave me off marriage for the same reasons I warn men. Certainly, the problems have seemed to proliferate. Still, it takes a lot to mentally “unplug” and realize the culture you’ve identified with your entire life has constructed false paradigms all around you. Not here and there, but all around you.
I still try to help guys who are recently married. I tried to talk my friend out of it, but understood when he got angry and said I was “out of line” because I noted that no one thought it was a good idea. The guy loved his fiancé, now wife. I’ve been there and I sincerely doubt I would’ve been talked out of marrying my ex.
Keep patience with guys who are still hook up to the machine. Not everyone can accept the awful truth, at first. It’s especially hard when you’ve placed your trust in institutions, like the church, and have to accept that most churches are selling the same snake oil.
We have to remember how “world-shifting” it really is to break free.
@Tam the Bam
This reminds me of a trip to one of our local shooting ranges some time back. It was a busy day so there was a line to check in. In the group in front of me there was a woman who kept conspicuously dropping “when I was in the army, we…” into the conversation. I don’t know what they were talking about, because all I heard was when she periodically raised her voice to make this announcement. When they were first in line the rangemaster told them the standard instructions for them to sign in. Miss in the army was incensed that she would have to show that she had ear and eye protection before being permitted on the firing line. “I was in the army and…”.
The funny thing is she took the requirement for hearing and eye protection as the rangemaster mistaking her for a novice, which is why she took offense. What she didn’t know is that every private range requires this for legal reasons. Moreover, this was an indoor range and the rangemaster had to explain to her that indoor ranges are louder than outdoor ranges. By taking offense army gal inadvertently demonstrated that she was in fact a novice. She was telling everyone at the range that she’d never in her life been to a civilian shooting range, that she had never fired a gun out of an interest in shooting (and this was in Texas). The only time she had ever fired a gun was when ordered to do so, almost certainly to demonstrate the most basic proficiency.
Dave,
I saw the promo for that show. I was watching TV with my family with my buddy (from another country/culture).

Off Topic:
Interesting conversation I had today, with a Muslim friend who lives in a nearby large town. He’s quite religious, but not kooky about it, and is a genuinely good guy. He brought up the fact that the community had invited a rather notorious wimminz to give a speech (as it’s the holiday, I imagine it’s one of those ecumenical things religious people like to do).
Me: (about the wimminz who they foolishly let into the masjid): I know her.
Him: You know [name of wimminz]?
Me: Yes, she teaches “queer theory” sometimes.
Him (laughing nervously): Oh, well, she didn’t teach anything like that
Me: What did she speak about?
Him: Just good things, you know.
Me: Like what?
Him: Oh, I don’t know exactly, I wasn’t there. A—- (name of wife) and J—– (name of his daughter) went.
So, in other words, this poor schlub’s female family members are being taught by one of the more notorious radical feminists in my area. That’s great.
I started deliberating as to whether to continue the conversaiton, because I have to work with the wimminz who spoke at the masjid, who his family may now be in contact with. I also didn’t want to lose him as a friendly acquaintance. After a bit of silence, and no attempt by him to change the topic (he appeared to be eagerly awaiting my response) I said…
Me: Did (wife) talk about the speech?
Him: A little. It was a discussion about community problems, though, and she was helpful.
Me: Community problems?
Him: You know, mistreatment of vulnerable people. It’s a real issue.
Me: Oh? There are Muslims mistreating the vulnerable in (name of town).
Him: Yes, of course. This happens in every community.
Me: But you don’t know any specific Muslims who are mistreating the vulnerable?
Him: Well, it is a problem, but it is often hidden.
At this point I know exactly where the conversation is going, so I carefully cut to the chase.
Me: You guys need to be careful about who you invite to speak. Some speakers want to help. Others might want to serve some other purpose.
Him: Well, no one had a problem with her.
Me: No one in the Christian community had a problem with such people, either, and look at the state of the Christian community now.
At this point I could see the gears working in this poor dude’s head. He was quiet for a long time, before I asked him how his vacation was. (He went skiing).
@Anchorman
Been there, done that, could not be talked out of it. The conflict, the separation and the divorce knocked my ego down hard. Since my return to the Church, I have a lot more humility these days. If only I had known then what I know now … well all I can do is make sure I never get taken like that again and I do my best to advise other men contemplating marriage.

The skill of displaying the grand illusion is all part of being an escort who commands top dollar. It isn’t just looks, it’s looks and that skill. You can see this dynamic at a strip club. It’s the betas who pay and pay and pay for that illusion. While her real life bf is usually an alpha.

She boasts of 80 marriage proposals, and I don’t doubt it for a moment – I suspect she’s pretty good in the sack and there are a lot of guys who would be stupid enough to marry her thinking the would be getting a steady diet of that for the rest of their lives. Yeah… she’s going to put the same level of effort into pleasing a husband that she used to put into pleasing guys paying her $1000 a night… And she’s not going to get any older either – it’s not like she’s past the wall and has to rely on the fading remains of the good looks she had in her youth or anything. /sarc.
And even if she wants to be the sex kitten of yesteryear, it’s got to be like throwing a hotdog down a hallway by this point. She may well be the most unmarriageable woman on the planet, yet there she is, getting serious media coverage about her husband hunt.
The danger isn’t that some thirsty rich guy will wife her up – that may actually happen and will be a one-man tragedy that he brings on himself. The real danger is that other women will read her story and decide that if a notorious whore can score a rich husband, they can do better than the one they have.

‘It’s the betas who pay and pay and pay for that illusion.’
Porn, strip clubs, and prostitutes. Combine that with drugs and football and you got the big business of illusion.
Whatever did you sick up ol’ Penny Red for, Marcus? She’s your problem now.
Blagged some sort of bursary from Hahvahd, 65 grand, and the good news is “after candidates have been chosen, they must agree in writing to honor all leave stipulations made with their employers; to refrain from professional work during the fellowship year, except as approved by the Nieman curator”, so I hope they’ll keep her shiny nose to the grindstone, and she’ll bother the tenantry less.
Still makes me LOL, that Utoob where Prof. David Starkey (genuine grammar school and scholarship boy, very poor working class from Oop North, raised in ‘ole int’ middle o’t rooid, hot gravel for breakfast, 1st at Cambridge/ doctorate etc.) completely loses his rag with the nasty, privileged, wealthy bluestocking little toerag. Pinned her as a champagne socialist and bludger of the vilest sort. Absolutely tore her a new one, made a nation rejoice.
I’d like to stuff her, Julie Burchill, Russell “don’t you dare ask about my house” Brand and Bob Ruddy Geldof into a white van painted with red crosses and weld the doors shut. Record the convo for reality tv.
Insufferable poncing tossers the lot of ’em. Maybe me and Starkey could liven things up by banging on the outside with pickhandles now and again. Doubt if we could afford their rations tho’. It’d have to be orgaaaanic (apart from the Bolly, Stolly, sensimilla and coke), from Neal’s Yard or Harrod’s, dontcha know?
Oh see what you’ve gone and done now Marcus, proper wound me up. I’m going to have to go outside and chuck boulders around or something (it’s freezing, but that garden wall won’t build itself).
Grumble grumble I’d forgotten all about that obnoxious little poseur Penny until you … I’ll pick a small one first, the size of her head …
Dalrock says:
I explained the paradox here (short version) and here (longer version).
I have a better understanding now. Thanks, Dalrock.
Dave — you ARE joking, right?
Not really, haha…..There! I got ya.
Of course I was joking. It’s only in our current degenerate world that women of such easy virtue are given the light of day. It is even a double tragedy to know that at least 80 men have proposed marriage to her. Eighty! It only goes to show that female sluttery cannot exist or survive without the men who enable and sustain it. If this poor excuse for a woman had been summarily shamed and silenced when she expressed her desire to “settle down with Mr. Right”, others would have taken note. But these poor excuses for men have not only validated her horrible life choices, they are falling over each other to reward her with marital commitments.
Well we all learned from ‘Pretty Woman’ that escorts have hearts of gold. If Hollywood says it’s true…that must be reality.
Lyn87 says:
The danger isn’t that some thirsty rich guy will wife her up…the real danger is that other women will read her story and decide that if a notorious whore can score a rich husband, they can do better than the one they have.
Did you mean to write ….the greater danger…..”? The thing is, there are many serious dangers here, some of which you have highlighted, and some which you alluded to:
1. The danger that the unlucky schlub who ends up marrying her will actually think he got a good deal, and boast to everyone who will listen how wonderful his whore is.
2. The danger that many young women will become even more validated in their sluttery, thinking that the way to marital happiness is through ten thousand cocks.
3. The danger to many betas who will even get more discouraged, thinking that the best they could have in a wife is a used up, post-wall prostitute.
4. The danger to any kids that this whore might have with the rich beta, who, armed with a firsthand experience of their whorish mother, will unleash themselves on the world with impunity.
5. The danger that many parents will have even a harder time convincing their wayward teens that sluttery does not pay.
6. The danger that this walking STD repository has actually transmitted more herpes, more chlamydia and more hepatitis than the worst epidemic ever witnessed in her country.
Dave asks me,
“Did you mean…”
Yeah… more or less. I was thinking along the lines of numbers 1, 2, and 4 (although I imagine the odds of her bearing children are low, and she can’t screw them up if she doesn’t have any). I hadn’t considered numbers 3, 5, and 6, but they are good additions.
Tam ye Bam’s wound right up and concludes with:

I read the article thanks. What I find really amazing is the PUA game types seem to be truthfully in tune with the culture. Heartiste writes the same type of pieces on matters of the culture.
Based on what I read in the article I don’t see what is so bad about MGTOW/family men having children and raising families with out relying on “her”. Civilized society is based on he. It is men that make humans civilized, beta males in particular.
I could go on for pages but I find this very interesting.

Try http://keepass.info/ (note, NOT .com, the .com site is not the real site). Keeps your passwords in an encrypted file and lets you have a different password for every site on the Internet, and not have to rememer them. Just pick a really GOOD master password and you’re set. Note that KeePass’s encryption is good enough that I keep my password database file on Dropbox, so that it can synchronize to all my computers every time I change a password — and I’m not at all worried that a rogue Dropbox employee could get access to my passwords.
It’s really made a difference for me: I no longer have to say “sigh, another password” nor try to remember which one I used on *this* site. Much, much better with a password manager. (There are other good ones out there too, but I can personally vouch for KeePass).

I would consider Penny to be a stereotype of a feminist – unpleasant and unintelligent (despite statements to the contrary). (Frankly, she’s the definition of insufferable.)
I guess this quote describes it:
“The degree of vapidity of belief is often greater with academics. As Orwell observed, there are some ideas so stupid that only intellectuals can believe them.” – Gary Jason
Apologies for the reminder of her existence.
—
As for Starkey, I believe this is the situation you’re referring to (linked for others to witness):
Starkey is, by far, a better person than Penny. Penny strikes me as a parasite who got anywhere life due korrekt opinions and some quotas. The unnaturally-coloured hair is, as usual, an excellent sign that something is wrong.

What is priceless about Brand is that he has threatened to sue The Sun for Libel. Now, as we know from last week, losing an action in Defamation can set you back two or three million and thus one has to be seriously well off to indulge in them – I can think of far worse things to say about the police than to observe that they are plebs. Brand surely earns far more than the P.M. yet berates the P.M. and his Chancellor (as he jabs and jostles the C4 reporter) for being better off than he. I wish I could afford his rent and thus live in a loft apartment in Hoxton (originally Hogs Down). How ironic then that yesterday the Chancellor reduced Stamp Duty across most bands thus making it more possible for Brand to purchase. Why are the two most obnoxious Comedians in Britain called Brand? – the other being Jo who is both fat and misandrist as well as being entirely unfunny. When she pulled pints in my local (before fame called) I did not even notice her existence.
Miss Penny has an annoyingly squeaky voice, as well as daft coloured hair and pretentious clothes – and looks like the British equivalent to the equally annoying Rebecca Watson. Of course Starkey is anti-semitic to have upset Miss Penny and an evil racist because he prefers Britain as it was when he was a child – despite or because of the rationing.
Apols. Marcus I’ve realised it’s not you, it’s me, because it just happened again.
I actually heard that Westwood “qu’ils mangent de la brioche” broadcast live, she was on as a zleb glitter-accessory to some bobblehead Green politicienne.
The old crackpot just wouldn’t shut up, kept on more or less shooting her pardner in the back with her incessant opinionated cawing, you could tell the pol. was beginning to curl up and die inside, as her big moment on air was hijacked by La Westie. Priceless!
I classify her as “one of those”, a less-well-dressed version of the abominable Hazel Blears, yet another wholly ignorant, malevolent ginger midget from Manchester or somewhere. Must be something in the water round there.
I really ought to not have the radio on in the workshop all the time (saves clockwatching). Or get a DAB/internet one and listen to dedicated geezer-fodder channels.
Opus, Brand isn’t even a pioneer/knocker-through in the area, the original Shoreditch Twats were a Y2K thing. Although he certainly more than fits the description.
Up here Brand is a south-east coastal name, of I suspect high-mediaeval or quasi-Hanseatic origin, like Bremner, Brebner, Danskin, and so on. The planet’s oldest golf-course (Musselburgh can take a hike), Bruntsfield Links, was originally the feu of a certain Mr Brand > Brandis-field>Brand’s-field etc.
Mr Russell’s antecedents are somewhat opaque.
I’d assume the device employed, whereby “his” property is leased (back?) from an entity located on some distant coconut-palmed atoll with a Union Flag/Jolly Roger tied to a stick might also entail some further sequestration of income from the grasping claw of the Treasury, as otherwise it just looks .. strange.
In short, precisely what the increasingly-chunky Mz Penny was trying to stitch the long-suffering Prof. up with, by wheeling it on a propos of nothing, mid-squabble, leading to his having to demonstrate his innocence.
Hmmm. I wonder how prevalent this wheeze is among the Hampstead/Islington SJW set? Seems to lie not very deeply-buried in their thoughts.
Did you notice what set her off squealing “rayciss!1!!” was Starkey blithering on about “savage customs imported from the foothills of the Hindu Kush” or something, in relation to child-sex-rings Oop North? All of two-and-half-years ago. And how did that little affair turn out? Prof Rude 2 – PennyDreadful 0, I reckon.
I wonder if he’s related to Ringo?

Finding absolutely no mention of gainful employment within, and her being fully credulous of the QuinnSpiracy, and the career grifter Snarkeasyan, I thought I smelled “professional SJW cadre”.
Indeed I did. This is her “job”, promulgating the conquest of the techie playrooms by feminism and fuckwittery through the myth of Gamer Misogyny. That poor little lad, doesn’t stand a chance.
Marcus, why do you always link unrelated threads from the Catholic Forums in all of Dalrock’s posts?
Lyn and Dave, read this: From UrbanBaby, a board ostensibly for parents of small children in NYC:
http://www.urbanbaby.com/topics/55349534
How would you feel about marrying a man who was a “lothario” of sorts in his 20s? Like having sex with 100+ women (which is absurdly easy due to things like Tinder nowadays..). No STDs, is ready to commit, hasn’t shown any inclinations to revert back to that lifestyle.
Starts off like that and then moves on to women with 100+ N counts defending their lifestyles with various degrees of shrillery. “Really, it’s not that many… one new man a month, for 20 years, before meeting dear husband…”
@Tam
I was too slow to grasp that Brand might-be on a Lease-back. No wonder he was so upset. I await the revelation in a later edition of The Sun.
Nice observation as to his Home Counties origins. You northern types have very strange names – like, for example, Thwaites.
Damn that penny chick is a character. The UK has a real problem with that chick running a round.
She doe seem out of place like she isn’t a part of anything productive. She doesn’t have family to take care of has no job etc. The others seem like they have at least taken off from work to do these talks.
Penny Dreadful, indeed. I wish I could say that all of those peacock-headed SJW-types were in the U.K., but we’re positively overrun by them here, too. If not for her accent (or is it we who have that?), she would be indistinguishable from a hundred thousand others who sound just like her at American campuses, committees, non-profit corporations, HR departments, talk shows, street-corner-protests, trendy coffee shops, and (of course) Reddit and Facebook.
I loved the part where David Starkey stuck his finger in Mizz Penny’s face and said, “I will not be lectured to by a jumped-up public-school girl like you.” Hilarious. And later, when she tried passive-aggressive victim-playing (and a claim of violence! – lol) a woman in the audience can clearly be heard to shout, “You started it!”… followed by a chorus in agreement.
I don’t know who David Starkey, is, but from what I’ve seen there, I like the guy.
@Lyn87
Starkey is a distinguished historian. By public-school Starkey means what you would call private-school – he is the one from the poor background – though personally I generally can’t stand those chip-on-shoulder Grammar school types like Starkey, and as you can see he has one for despite his 1st from Oxbridge he feels intimidated by the upmarket (though batty and obnoxious) Penny Dreadful – a view of the British class system in action.
Oh sorry Opus, geography fail on my part. I’m already living in The Future (have been all my life apparently) and by south-east I meant my own, separate, country and was indicating the zone between the Tweed and the Firth of Forth. RB is I believe a proper London boy though.
Starkey is an authentic working-class hero, for all that is worth.
His dad was “the son of a cotton spinner, was a foreman in a washing-machine factory, while Elsie (mum) followed in her father’s footsteps and became a cotton weaver, and later a cleaner.”
“Starkey was born with two club feet. One was fixed early, while the other had to be operated on several times. He also suffered from polio. He suffered a nervous breakdown at secondary school, aged 13, and was taken by his mother to a boarding house in Southport, where he spent several months recovering.”
“Starkey was raised in an austere and frugal environment of near-poverty, with his parents often unemployed for long periods of time; an environment which, he later stated, taught him “the value of money. I suppose my politics remained essentially in the middle-of-the-road Labour left until the end of the 1970s””
He’s also as gay as get out and an Atheist Militant, hon. ass. of the National Secular Society.
But that’s enough about him, he’s old and ugly enough to look after himself.
LolPenny on the other hand .. school (founded 1845) weighing in at $30,500 to $48 600 p.a., upper second (English) from Cambridge, am.-dram. soc., journo’s ticket, eventually subby for … the Morning Star (Communist Party of Great Britain rag, until the end of the USSR deprived it of funding, she arrived after).
“She has a full CV of acceptably interesting life experience, including long-term inpatient care within the mental health system, working as a burlesque dancer ..”
She is in fact Deirdre Spart made flesh.
I do so enjoy providing these strange little ethnographic footnotes, a window into our tiny, mad island. Living among this stuff is my excuse for my habit of apparently unprovoked random yells of rage, when not in company.
“…a view of the British class system in action.”
I find it mystifying. I knew about the U.K. public school = U.S. private school thing, although our way makes more sense to me since private schooling is paid by private funds and public schooling is paid from the public purse. Nonetheless, surely Mizz Penny has no actual hereditary title, does she? I assume you mean economic class. My understanding of the phrase “jumped up” is that it dates to the time when titles conveyed real power, and for someone to be “jumped up” meant to be promoted above his station – like Thomas Cromwell before Henry Tudor had him shortened by a head, or the Boleyn family before he shortened Anne by a head. (I sense a pattern here…) So while I’m not certain what Starkey meant by that, it sounded like a proper British insult to my ears. Is the implication that she is accorded more gravitas than she may rightly claim? Anyway, my impression is that she grew up as a little rich girl from what we would consider the upper class or at least the upper middle class, and squandered her potential on the usual pedestrian lib-tard “causes”… such as “oppressed” people she probably studiously avoids: like rich American SJW’s are never found mixing with the people they feeeeel so much empathy for. I can’t imagine Mizz Penny within miles of the Subway shop being defended by the woman this thread is about, even if there was not a riot happening at the time.
I find it amusing that a distinguished historian in the U.K. can poke his finger in the face of a young woman and tell her off without being thrown from the nearest rooftop… is that because Starkey is a poof? (I have to admit, I thought he had effete mannerisms, but I chalked it up to him being an academic.. now that I know he’s gay it makes more sense.)

Feminist Make-Believe at its apogee.
Quite the legend for that, and plagiarism. She should be a natural fit with the US domestic feminist ecology, although I trust she finds the fembo competition hierarchy rather more feral than she is accustomed to.

I’m grateful to the Dalrock author/admin/etc. for allowing people of diverse backgrounds to come together and critically examine popular culture. It’s exactly what is not allowed on CA.
Boxer
Tam is quite right. Notice how despite his attack on HER privileged status (as a female who went to a fee paying school) even Starkey the great historian who had risen from nothing was unable to do other than appear butt-hurt, and it was only when a woman from the audience went on the attack (as some of ours do) that he gains the upper-hand (though obviously not the upper-class). Neither his physical disability nor his working-class background (nor the fact that he had a proper degree with a decent grade) are any avail against the power of the V and what he cannot of course do (and would be no more successful in doing than his fellow historian David Irving when he does this sort of thing) is to point out that we do not see Mz Penny as really English, as she is a member of the tribe, and thus probably someone who will change country ‘ere long anyway.
Opus,
I wasn’t there long enough to become intimately familiar with the culture on your archipelago. I spent most of my mental energy: 1) Looking at the stuff I went there to see, 2) figuring out what to eat, 3) trying to make sense of the ever-increasing number of strange coins in my pockets, and 4) trying to avoid crashing my car in one of those infernal clockwise roundabouts.
Oh… and feeding the huge freaking swans in Linlithgow Loch, who, as it turns out, are not at all shy about begging swan food (sold in the local pet shop for a few quid) from all and sundry. It also turns out that my wife is a bit intimidated by huge wild birds that will happily stand right on one’s feet for a treat – much to my amusement. (I have a funny ostrich story along those lines… another time, perhaps.) She decided to walk along the sidewalk tossing food into the water and the ducks, geese, and swans paddled along after her. She lamented the fact that we did not bring the camera that day because she said it was the one time in her life that she had all her ducks in a row. (Unlike the day we got married, which would have made a decent “Hee Haw” sketch.)
Anyway, neither Mizz Penny nor anyone of her ilk ever crossed my path. Like I wrote when I came back: every single person I encountered was polite.

Yes, I’m Catholic.
(@Chris, too)
A large part is the censorship – just like SJWs on Twitter who mass report things they disagree with, the same thing goes on at CAF (in both cases to shut down the account of the person who’s saying such things). Your stereotypical cultural Marxist, anti-Catholic, crypto-feminists are accepted (often with open arms) and are rarely challenged on anything they say. The other part is the groupthink/hivemind aspect which, after a couple of years, is completely insufferable. For example, when you’re holding off twenty people in a debate*, they start criticizing your spelling (e.g. British vs American) or your use of commas (e.g. Oxford or not) just to drag you down. They are startlingly immature that way, and I think it’s the endpoint of a university system that doesn’t permit critical thought as well as a slow suffocation of sane voices on CAF (e.g. the mass-reporting, pile-ons, etc). There’s a lot more to be said about CAF, but that’s a brief intro.

1. Very good
2. Try food, but don’t complain if the plate (unlike the food) is cold
3. Only poor people use coins
4. Roundabouts we dealt with on a previous thread – no where near as confusing though as traffic lights on the other side of the intersection as you suicidally have in California – I was a danger to road users in that state
5. Swans may look cute but are vicious creatures. I know as I was attacked by one appropriately enough in Stratford on Avon.
Coins: don’t listen to the naughty man, Lyn. Absolute necessity for (1) parking meters in town (you’ll need a bootful) (2) association football matches, if spectating.
Swans: Royal Fish or some such mediaeval dietary loophole, like gannets. Run away. Throw tubs of Dylon at them, your choice of colours. I like black, as one canal goes past the headquarters of The Worst Bank of All, and its yuppie orcforce like to cycle-commute on the towpath.
Only the Monarch, eastern european pikeys and similar exalted classes are permitted to catch, wing-clip or eat them. Swans that is, not banksters. Although if it carries on like this …
‘Your stereotypical cultural Marxist, anti-Catholic, crypto-feminists are accepted (often with open arms) and are rarely challenged on anything they say.’
How dare you use Catholic teaching on a Catholic answers website to dispel what women want! Don’t you know Marxist feminism is their god and the Catholic faith is just another title!
re: swans and feminism… and coins
The swans there are pretty tame – they congregate at the park just west of Linlithgow Palace, which is constantly filled with families and visitors who feed them. In fact they are so well fed that there’s a sign there advising people to buy proper bird food from the local pet shops rather than give them bread, since they are in danger of malnutrition caused by filling up on stuff with no nutritional value. Anyway, at one point I had the undivided attention of no fewer than six large swans: one on my left, one on my right, and four in front of me in the water. The two on the sidewalk were practically standing on my feet. I too have had a large waterbird (in my case a goose) get uppity with me, but that was when the young were still… well, young, and I probably wandered too close to its babies for its comfort.
By the same token – and to avoid being completely off-topic – animals can often sense dominance. My wife has a far harder time managing animals than I do in general. I suspect that’s because she allows herself to be intimidated by them more than I do. When we used to have dogs they took my commands as orders and hers as suggestions. The same sort of dynamic plays out in classrooms, of course. Children naturally test boundaries, and for those with no father at home to teach them about boundaries (thanks, feminism!), they test boundaries with their teachers, and when all those teachers are female (thanks again, feminism!), they often get intimidated. Because they are constitutionally incapable of demonstrating dominance they pathologize the boys and control them with drugs.
As for the coins: in the U.S., except for the dime (ten cents) our coins get bigger as their value increases: and we only use four coins for the most part. We have half-dollar and dollar coins but nobody uses them – most cash registers don’t even have a place for them. In the U.K. there are more types of coins and there is no correlation between the size of the coin and its value – the only way to keep them straight is by rote memory… easy if you live there but a nightmare when you’re just visiting. Consequently I would use my bills to pay for things and get coins back in change. Since I didn’t want to be the bloody tourist holding up the line by sorting through a handful of strange coins I just kept getting more and more of them. In the U.S. you can often find cans or jars for loose change for various charities in restaurants and shops – I started looking for those just to lighten my load, but apparently that’s not as popular there as it is here.
They take it very seriously – the killing and eating of Swans. Even Master of The Queen’s Music Maxwell Peter Davis K.G. had to apologise to his employer, the C.E.O of U.K. plc when he and his boyfriend decided to enjoy Swan Dinner washed down with Chablis. That the unlucky Swan was one she had never even seen and did not know she had (residing as it did on a God-forsaken rocky promontory which no one ever visits to the north of the island) was not the point. All bad things seem to happen north of the border (very bad banks, swan genocide, Mr Brown).
I have indeed perambulated Rackwick Bay, Opus, observing those subfossil driftwood timbers of astounding size which gave the locals the idea of great lands, far west-over-sea, the Tir nan Craobh of the Hebrideans (and to my surprise, easily squirmed into the lateral chambers of da Dwarfie Stane on the way. More lies, about the late neolithic inhabitants being petite and gracile).
It (Hoy) struck me as a place one could very easily go quite mad in, away in that cott of his high on the NW cliffs.
To the point of greedily rending and devouring any sort of carrion, in the depths of the circumpolar night. Live swan a refreshing delicacy, better than smoked sillocks, spoots and kale. Or beachcombed dead seal, smoked sheep’s head, and bannocks that smell and taste exactly like drylining sheets. Again.
Have lain awake many’s the winter’s night in those godforsaken islands, the crockery juddering off the shelves in the “spence” and the windows rattling even louder than the eternal, freezing, gale-force wind, as Greenlandic ocean rollers the size of the Cotswolds slammed into the beetling, ice-rimed cliffs miles to the north, every seven seconds … every .. seven .. seconds .. until the sky lightened for a couple of hours around noon.
Shuddderrrr .. no wonder they drink. A place where having eggs for breakfast requires that the hens are tethered to the ground for their own safety, and the smaller children taught to utilise ropelines between the houses in winter and to Hold Fast, or lie spreadeagled on the ground if blown out of reach, until a sturdy, stocky, beer-and-bacon-ballasted adult can reach them (before they get to those cliffs).
And not a stick of timber or a drink of clean mountain water in the place. I hope they bid for independence, or rejoin Norway, they’re welcome to the oil as some small recompense for being castaway on those barren salty skerries.
