Cane Caldo argues in The War Conservatives Never Knew They Lost:
It would be more true to say that those we call Liberals were fighting to occupy Conservatism, and that’s what they won. They didn’t take over the whole culture, but rather took over what is considered Conservative. This is discombobulating because Conservatives have been told that they are fighting for The Culture overall, and so there’s a lot of effort to win external victories; victories “out there”. Meanwhile; the base was sapped…infiltrated…hacked.
Jonah Goldberg, Senior Editor of the National Review, would no doubt disagree were he not already occupied praising the great leap forward the US armed forces are making:
There’s an added irony here. Around the time little Laura’s school was cracking down on Wonder Woman lunchboxes, two women, Kristen Griest and Shaye Haver, passed the Army Ranger training course for the first time. The news was hailed across the country as a huge step forward for women.
Are these women role models or not? Are they heroes? Or should they be condemned for their willingness to use violence when necessary? Maybe Laura should get a Griest and Haver lunchbox and find out.

Yes, that’s why terms like “liberal” and “conservative” are inadequate, and may even be harmful to the cause b/c of that.

This stuff is hilarious, if it wasn’t so poisonous. I’m willing to bet money that when the first ranger/navy SEAL woman gets raped while on mission, the feminist harpies will be out for blood, screaming for mandatory training of rape prevention techniques. The crazier ones will be demanding that the enemy soldiers and combatants not rape our women, because anything else is victim blaming…. waaaaaaaaaa!

The two girls who made it were carried through… guaranteed. I saw it happen an Airborne School. Shoot, it happens at every school where there is a physical component to the training. And now that the girls are tabbed, they still can’t do the job, because even if they were assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment their bodies would break down within a year or two, tops. Women just aren’t built to do that sort of thing for very long. Everybody loses.

Women just aren’t built to do that sort of thing for very long. Everybody loses.
I would have been in support of women being “all they can be” in the military if the country were short of male volunteers. But, clearly, that is not the case in this instance. It’s all to rob the guys of their glory. Penis envy all over again.
Here is a very nice example of that progress:
https://www.reddit.com/r/relationships/comments/3jj1q6/my_26m_girlfriend_23f_aborted_our_baby_against_my/
Especially ‘nice’ are those ‘pro-choice’ comments .. especially that quote is just hilarious:
“However, I think that you are taking your grief out on the wrong person. Your ex made the right call by going through with the procedure, since she wasn’t ready to be a parent. ”
On the other hand she is somehow right – he is taking grief on wrong person – he should be rather blaming feminists like her ..
Note that the usual pass ratio of men becoming Rangers is 40 to 50% (depends on year). And the pass ration of women becoming Rangers is 10% (2 out of 19). So it literally costs FOUR to FIVE times as much to train a woman to become a Ranger as it does to train a man. And are they any better – in real terms I would argue they are not.
There is a reason Goldberg, O’Reilly, Bush et. al. are called CUCKSERVATIVES.
BTW, the creator of the Wonder Woman stories was psychologist and freak into feminism, submission of men, and polyamorous relationships. Still, the personality tests he developed are used quite frequently in corporate America.

By the way, the comments over at the Instapundit link are about what you would expect. I and at least one other commenter pointed out that Goldberg is praising feminist progress, with the usual denial and rationalization.

She. This is from Elizabeth’s blog. Cheers.
The only women who really want to do this are the ugliest, manliest bulls. Even then, they wouldn’t qualify if held to the same standards as men.
The military is at the mercy of its uberfeminist pol paymasters to fix everything to get them thru. An engineering friend says there would be no female engineers if held to male standards.

@Hermilion
Yikes. I mean, it happens every day, but it’s always tough to see the usual Leftist talking points being used to “console” people. I can think of other situations where talking points could be used to console, and I know the Left would be apoplectic.
@Hermilion
Here’s her reasoning:
So here is how it went:
She told me that she is planning to abort. I ask her why and she gives us not earning money and her getting loose as an answer… I say that we have more money that we could ask for, enough for her to not work at all, and that she can get a C-section. She tells me I can not change her mind and it is her body. I said it is her body and it is my right to break up if she forces an abortion on me, even though she has every right to do so. She tells me I am just mad and stop acting childish, and should be calm down when she comes back from the clinic.

With the way women are today, I have no problem if they go into the meat-grinder of combat.
But I have a feeling that somehow they will avoid becoming cannon fodder and still get “you go girl” for acheiving a military rank.
Jonah’s title is indicative of how far National Review has fallen. Jonah is not, and has never been a conservative. Call him on his stupidity and you will incur his undying contempt.
Pretty sure. I’ve been watching Elizabeth’s page for years. Maybe I mixed up who the quote was by, but it’s her blog.
She is coming along. She has benefitted from this site, tho the information here sometimes disturbs her, as expected. Cheers.
We see this also with the Daily Signal, the mouthpiece of the Heritage Foundation. http://dailysignal.com/2015/08/28/no-more-double-standards-for-women-in-the-military/
At first I thought the article – written by a former female U.S. Army helicopter pilot – was calling for equal physical fitness standards in the military; instead, it is calling for us to require women to register for the draft.
“As a society that celebrates equality, we can’t undermine the meaning and advances that have been made throughout our history by accepting selective equality. We can’t pick and choose when we want things between men and women to be equal. Women are now on the brink of serving in ground combat jobs. They have been critical for success on the battlefield. It’s time that they share the responsibly of protecting our nation if the time comes.”
Then again, believing that both women and men should both be subject to killing and dying on behalf of our wise overlords in D.C. is the logical conclusion of gender equality. Onward, feminist soldiers! Long live wonderful, sweet equality!
In fairness to Jonah, I don’t believe he actually supports the policy to allow women in combat. He’s written quite differently on the subject elsewhere. Note the phrasing of the quote you highlighted:
“The news was hailed across the country as a huge step forward for women.”
He’s speaking from the perspective of how the policy was perceived and portrayed in the media (mostly by liberals), not declaring it to be his own (or the “conservative”) viewpoint on the matter. It’s also secondary to the crux of his article, which is how ridiculous and contradictory the Left has become in the culture war. His questions that follow the above quote are directed towards liberals to highlight the hypocrisy of the lunch box policy (Democrats fought hard for a policy to send women to die for our country, but bringing a lunchbox with Wonderwoman to school is apparently a step too far).
But yes, point taken that the conservatives have been uttlerly worthless in the culture war. And Goldberg has proven himself to be a feminist boob in other matters as well.
Conservatives are worthless in the cultural war, because they don’t really stand for anything.
The want to maintain (conserve) the status quo. That’s it in a nutshell. There is no “principle” that they really stand for other than that, and that’s why they always lose (from Rome on, and probably from every empire before that).
Mind you there are authoritarian elements that stand for things occasionally that are called conservative (The women’s temperance movement is one example) .
The SJWs stand for something, they have something (however misguided) that they fight for.
It is possible that the growing libertarianism might combat this because they generally in principle see authoritarianism in the left and right as something that violates their principle, but we will have to see.
The glaring example of this is how Conservatives wasted tremendous valuable energy and hundreds of millions of dollars (at least) fighting gay marriage, only to watch heterosexual marriage be utterly destroyed in the process. It’s equivalent to showing up for a battle, but appearing at the wrong front.
Even worse, they delude themselves that heterosexual marriage is what the SJW’ers will come after NEXT. No, heterosexual marriage is what they came after FIRST. In losing that battle, the outcome of the battle against gay marriage (and whatever soon follows) had already been pre-determined.
It’s also worth noting that had Conservatives directed their energy to the proper front (heterosexual marriage), their success in fighting gay marriage would have been 2-3 fold more effective. This is because the attitudes regarding acceptability of gay marriage in Society has far more to do with a break-down of heterosexual marriage, than anything to do with “tolerance” or “diversity”.
It is possible that the growing libertarianism might combat this because they generally in principle see authoritarianism in the left and right as something that violates their principle, but we will have to see.
What growing libertarianism? Government has long been moving in the polar opposite direction and will continue to do so until there is a direct confrontation with Feminism, which conservatives are too pansy to fight anyways.

Those Ranger women were carried through:
http://www.johntreed.com/female-rangers-crossing-Yellow-River.html
The facebook post in question:
As a service academy grad (and a woman), I can absolutely attest that all us females had our butts carried through something in Basic Training, at least once. That can be said for a lot of the guys too, of course, but in those cases, it wasn’t a female hauling them out of trouble. And service academy girls, many of who are lettered high school athletes, are held to the highest regular PT standards of any women in the armed forces. Imagine how much lower the girls who enlist or do ROTC are.
The sad truth is, there is a physical double standard in the military. It has to be there, or the vast majority of women would have to leave. it was accepted in the past, because women were not in front-line combat positions, where physical strength is the thing that keeps you and your squadmates alive. That relative strength difference doesn’t matter as much when you’re working a desk job. Put women in combat positions now, however, and it calls all of that into question. It opens active duty women back up to more harassment and suspicion, and might start rolling back very necessary restrictions, like the Selective Service rules. These feminists are actually making things worse for women by their demands for “equality”.
And yes, I suppose I am protective of that double standard. I’m well aware of my physical limitations, and I’m just grateful I was allowed to serve my country in the capacity that I did. Every woman who goes into the military knows, at some level, that she’s accepting a diminished level of access in exchange for having that access in the first place. I was okay with that. I didn’t want to be a Ranger, and I didn’t have to be, in order to contribute. Any woman who NEEDS that probably didn’t join up for the right reasons.
But all that being said, Ranger School means exactly jack-shit. It’s just a course. You get a tab at the end of it to wear on your uniform, and that’s about it. It’s not a special forces selection course. Where the real concern will be is if they lower Navy SEAL training standards in order so that the first female recruit doesn’t die during training.
Dave
That is interesting that they charge a boy. Never seem to get around to charging girls for all of the sexting they do. Manufacture and distribute child porn.
There are two ideas. They are both very, very deep, with tendrils stretching distantly back into our history. One idea is most offended when human dignity is impugned, the other idea is most offended when the conscience is violated.
Small states can be constructed in the total ascendance of one idea, or the other. Ethnostates can and have been erected that sidestep the question. In a Republic of ideas, the question cannot be sidestepped and it has to be addressed. Ours was a complicated fusion of the two ideas.
The conservative must have his conscience. There are many, many allies who will stand by the conservative who demands his conscience. But if it is nothing less than the state, if it’s dominion, or bust, we’ve been there before. It’ll be a long study of history to find a case where conservatives ever come out of that challenge on top. Defending conscience: conservatives win. Demanding dominion: costs conservatives their souls. Without souls, how can you hope to win? What, really, are you even hoping for? There is vast gulf and yet a fine distinction separating conservative and fascist, do you really know how to tell the difference?
I’m frankly guessing: not. From inside the prism the lighting must seem confusing. If anyone is listening I recommend you start here: ask if you hold something sacred. If not, you aren’t even there yet. If you do, what is it? What is it you…you: hold sacred? If we understand what you hold sacred we can have a discussion about how we may honor that, but meanwhile: on what basis do you presume anyone not of your number should hold the same thing sacred?
I disagree. American conservatives stand for conserving the principles of the American Revolution and the original intent of those who agreed to the US Constitution and its amendments.
Anything else is nuts or some childish interpretation of something your 5th grade teacher told your class in the (dumbed down) social studies unit.
Fifty to one? Check your arithmetic. Just look around you. Count all the Social Justice Bullies (SJBs) and their agents in the Establishment Media who go all in for the lies of the Social Justice movement du jour. Then count every Kim Davis who have gone all in to witness for the truth and turn back the lies and counterfeits of reality spawned by the SJBs.
There aren’t as many American conservatives as you suppose, TFH. You shouldn’t be surprised about that, given that you and so many others in these comboxes talk about those conservatives as if they don’t include you.

Once you accept that conservatives are really just progressives who are about ~30 years behind the times, this stuff all makes sense. And you’ll never have to waste time voting again.
@Blue —
Dominion is already here — it’s the dominion of the SJWs, the feminsts, Gay, Inc. and so on. It is not tolerant, it is not about respecting conscience, it is about absolute, unquestioned, unchallenged cultural and political dominance full-stop. Don’t pretend that only the right wishes to impose its will using the political system — the left also very much wishes to impose its moral vision on society using evert possible means available, including the political.

“I think you know what I’m talking about in my post.”
You talking about the mendacious talking points of a Party that left you behind long ago and giving them a credence they do not merit or even any longer seek. when we should be discussing the lost souls that Jesus desires for us to reach out to?
How does this blog, or these topics, help anyone get to heaven?
If it doesn’t, why is it going on?
All good questions IMO.
My short answer is as follows:
We (believers and followers of Jesus Christ) have been instructed to expose unfruitful works of darkness (Eph 5:11), and many of the false teachings in churches today are directly tied to Feminism and other PC concepts which are exposed here. The corruption is so thorough in most congregations, and there are so few that are able or willing to expose it, that some of us find it extremely useful to learn from and bounce ideas off of like minded brothers in Christ. This site is one such place where such exchanges can happen.
My long answer is as follows:
I have witnessed first hand the “saving” of lost souls as it happens in the typical western church. One example involved a trip to Mexico with a group representing a few churches in the local area. The “missionary” party having broke up into small groups canvased the neighborhood with everyone going door to door.
The women were careful to dress modestly [you know, like the Bible instructs] so as not to offend the natives, and most folks in the group were obviously egalitarian. So this “missionary” group, made up mostly of people who pick and choose which parts of the Bible are relevant today, shared the Gospel with folks who are not at liberty to disagree with them unless they are willing to violate their own sense of decorum.
At the end of the week after a playground is built for the local church (the only part of the trip not a complete waist of time IMO) and the message is shared (again that year) to the folks in that neighborhood, everyone gets back on the bus, only the girls have now discarded their modest clothing for something more trendy.
On the return trip the bus driver is pulled over for speeding. Once back in the states, the church has a special service where it is announced that some 500+ new souls have been saved when nothing of the kind has occurred.
When the trip started, I didn’t realize just how destructive the egalitarian strain of feminism is. Boy did I ever get a clue as the trip unfolded. I was given a bird’s eye view to just how un-Christ like people can be when you shine the light of biblical teaching into the dark places overshadowed by feminist thought in the recesses of their minds.
Then consider that the folks in that Mexican town aren’t stupid. They may not be saved, but they have a sense of morality that is based off of the Bible. They know and are disgusted at how American girls often behave, as is most of the non-western world.
Did anyone from the “missionary” group develop friendships or at least try to establish some type of discipleship follow through? Nope!
Did they even know how to establish some type of discipleship follow through? Nope?
So here are some questions that I have:
What was that group or the hundreds just like it doing in Mexico to begin with?
If the church goers in that “missionary” group really are different than the world (as the Bible instructs Christians to be), why did the girls need to change into something more modest to avoid offending the town locals?
Does anyone besides me see the disconnect between “the saved” having to change their clothes and dress in a more biblical fashion to reach “the lost”?
Why are people who call themselves Christian picking and choosing which parts of Bible teachings to follow instead of taking to heart the whole council of God?
Why isn’t the state of churches in America more of a concern to Bible believing Christians?
And why, oh WHY, would anyone announce to a congregation that 500+ souls where saved when NO ONE in the room had any idea if anyone was saved at all let alone how many?
We have a problem in what is all too often referred to as “Christianity” in Western countries. We have an epidemic of endangered souls INSIDE of churches.
So one last question:
Who is knocking on doors to save those poor lost souls?
This is MarcusD’s territory, but my wife reads this site and came across this article:

Expect your kids to be resilient. I was amazed at how easily my children adapted to our new lifestyle once we got on a schedule. It’s like we have always done it this way. They don’t seem to carry a grudge like adults. My younger children have adapted very well; better so than the older ones.
Disgusting.
Dear Michya Eli:
The American Revolution and the US Constitution led us directly to our present situation. This is why conservatives are fully on board with feminism (via their actions, if not the bullshit rhetoric they tickle your ears with).

Yes! But they are usually small, and the extent of “red pill” understanding varies.
>Why are we discussing feminism and bloggers who say stuff we don’t like
Do you really think Jesus did not have long conversations about the different groups contributing to the fallen world? Do you think the disciples complained that He was discussing the Pharisee’s too much and other stuff He didn’t like?
This blog is the bridge between playa’s and men of God and has brought more people a little bit closer to the truth and therefore to Heaven, than you can imagine.
@Boxer. The court appointed mediator that the judge sent my ex husband and me to see when we had custody issues post divorce told me that the person who initiated the divorce almost always refuses to admit that the children are not doing well post divorce, while the non-initiating parent usually saw a multitude of issues. I have since used that tidbit of wisdom to discern who pulled the trigger in the divorces of people I have met and it seems to be accurate . Judging by this lady’s contention that the children forget all about the divorce as soon as the new schedule is in place I’m going to go way out on a limb and say that the divorce was her idea
@badpainter
There are likely many girls who go through alternate commissioning sources who are excellent athletes as well. But the physical fitness test at the service academies is objectively more strenuous, the Basic Training requirements more physically focused, and overall training requirements higher. I’m not saying that to ring knock. It’s fact.
@cynthia
I don’t think he is going to take your word for it. Do you have proof to back up your claim?
Fitness test for USNA-Annapolis
http://www.usna.edu/Admissions/Candidate-Fitness-Assessment.php
@infowarrior
Sure. The standards vary a bit from service to service, but let’s just look at the Air Force (cause I know how that one works).
USAFA: Have to pass a fitness assessment prior to receiving an appointment. It’s a six event test:
Pull-Ups/Flexed Arm Hang
Shuttle Run
Modified Sit-Ups (Crunches)
Push-Ups
One Mile run
Scores can be found here: http://www.academyadmissions.com/admissions/the-application-process/fitness-assessment/
After receiving an appointment, must pass the cadet PFT both fall and spring semester. It’s a five event test, consisting of:
Pull-Ups
Long Jump
Crunches
Push-Ups
600-Yard Run
http://www.academyadmissions.com/the-experience/athletics/physical-fitness/
It’s not on the website, but there are mandatory minimums you must reach. There’s also a 1.5 mile run held on a separate week, and at least one PE class a semester cadets must take. It’s all weighted and graded, which means it affects your class rank and can have an effect on what job you get after graduation.
ROTC:
ROTC cadets must pass the regular AF PT test for their age group/sex, once a semester. That consists of:
Push-ups
Pull-ups
1.5 mile run
Enlisted:
Enlisted girls have to pass the regular AF PT test
The regular PT test standards can be found here: http://www.afpc.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-110804-054.pdf.
Additionally, USAFA has a punishing six week basic training course before fall semester of your freshman year. Enlisted basic training focuses more on discipline and drilling; USAFA is much more focused on physical training, especially in the second phase, when the doctors are less worried about altitude acclimatization issues. Almost everyone sustains at least one injury due to training while there, if not more. It’s designed to be as hard as possible, because the only way to get through to some kids (especially the high-T, A-type, high-IQ, wannabe fighter pilots) is beat them ’til they puke.
My point in saying all this isn’t to ring-knock. It was to make the point that your average girl at the Air Force Academy is far more physically fit than your average AF girl, and we all still struggled to keep up with the guys. It was to say that even the perceived cream of the female officer crop still sucks compared to the guys. I don’t know why anybody thinks it’s even possible to have more than a bare handful of women physically capable of attempting these higher-level courses.

“How does this blog, or these topics, help anyone get to heaven?”
Well, it sure doesn’t help by employing trite pontifications and broad presumptions.
Over years, this is one of the few places in the world — blog or otherwise — where falsity and self-service under cover of Christianity has been investigated and exposed. Naming names etc. This blog also helps pry open the Door to Eden (or at least relax the angel) by providing information in varied formats that clarify and contextualize the sins/weaknesses of both Adam and Eve. You know, the sins that caused the entire planet to be cursed, to this moment.
This primal fault of the ‘first parents’ isn’t merely rampant in modern Western culture, it defines our nations — female rebelliousness and male servitude. This blog digs around in that muck, under Scriptural guidance and, usually, within biblical contexts. It goes where most others, especially ‘Christians’, won’t.
There’s more but that’s enough for you. This blog is not perfect but it is about our Father’s business, and it is helping those who aren’t too proud to learn, to ‘get to heaven’. King Jeshua opens the door, or not. But we enter based on our works, as the bible attests.
I also notice that the site owner isn’t selling anything — like so many ahem Christians — and that he’s not grasping after fame or personal adulation via this blog.
Based on your comment, this site has little or no utility to God, so I assume you have accomplished works significantly greater than these in your years on Earth? Doesn’t sound like you’re shy, so let’s hear about your works and wisdoms.
@ cynthia
Different tests, and more focused training I get that. What I was thinking you implied in your first comment was that the scoring standards for the the academies were different/higher. So an apples to apples comparison is not possible based on your information.
If we understand what you hold sacred we can have a discussion about how we may honor that, but meanwhile: on what basis do you presume anyone not of your number should hold the same thing sacred?
The only answer for Christians, in a society which is based entirely on secular values (as ours is quickly becoming, if it isn’t already there) is strategic withdrawal as a means of self-preservation while still engaging, selectively, in evangelism in ways that are appropriate. Most of us are going to be lost to the secular culture — that is a given, because it encourages sin, builds on temptations to sin, and therefore is very alluring to human’s fallen natures. Most will be lost to it. I do not think the culture is capable of being salvaged at this point, so I think that’s a lost cause. Individuals in the culture can be saved, and we must not stop trying to do that, while at the same time avoiding collaboration with a political, social and cultural system which is increasingly evil in nature, and is close to becoming thoroughly evil.

The sad part is letting these women get by with preferential treatment so they can join (the military, firefighting, etc…). It’s only going to get people killed in the long run.
We’re now a nation of lowering standards so everyone feels good. People dying, I guess it’s just a side effect of our “progress”. I decided long ago not to join the service because I saw the changes. The country (at that time) was already catering to women just so they could feel as though they were a part of the military (by lowering standards or carrying them through basic). Today, we are doubling down by letting these women “try out” for special forces training and firefighting training.
Again, we’ll end up lowering the standards so we appear more diverse (but weaker in the long run). Men who couldn’t get in (or pass) should be pissed by this move. It’s another example of the country turning on men.
Since the women-in-ranger-school phenomenon is one of my favorite topics, a few more points:
1) 2, maybe 3 of the original 19 going through have or will graduate (the 3rd is still in Florida). This is either 11% or 16% of the cohort
2) Of the men, we don’t have good data on the whole original class’s pass rate (06-15 was when they started, but graduated with 08-15), but overall pass rates for a class after all the recycles are taken into account is generally accepted to be somewhere around 40-50%
3) The opportunity cost, therefore, of getting the 2-3 ladies through (Good job, by the way! that course sucks) is probably another 5-8 Ranger-qualified students.
Even if the standards and experience weren’t changed (and yes, you can change the experience without changing the objective “standards”) the Army is still incurring large opportunity cost in running this kind of program, and the end product (assuming they end up in Infantry / combat units, as the current tide is turning) will still likely be inferior to having men in those positions when those differences matter.
Again, G*d bless ’em for getting after it, but there is no net advantage to this integration. Not that opportunity costs are seen; this is the broken-window fallacy in action.
I blasted Cane about his buy in to the Hegelian framework. Liberals and conservatives are both Hegelians. Better to junk the Hegelian framework and hold to time-invariant principles.
