The peasants are revolting.

Love him or hate him, Trump has managed to bring the Republican elite’s seething contempt for the working class to the surface.  Back in March, Kevin D. Williamson at National Review wrote that white working class communities deserve to die:

If you spend time in hardscrabble, white upstate New York, or eastern Kentucky, or my own native West Texas, and you take an honest look at the welfare dependency, the drug and alcohol addiction, the family anarchy—which is to say, the whelping of human children with all the respect and wisdom of a stray dog—you will come to an awful realization. It wasn’t Beijing. It wasn’t even Washington, as bad as Washington can be. It wasn’t immigrants from Mexico, excessive and problematic as our current immigration levels are. It wasn’t any of that…

The truth about these dysfunctional, downscale communities is that they deserve to die. Economically, they are negative assets. Morally, they are indefensible…

Trump’s focus has been on the elite’s policy of driving down the wages of the working class through lopsided trade deals and flooding our economy with cheap foreign labor.  Williamson ironically disregards the economic crisis faced by the working class by accurately noting that our elites have done even more damage by creating a new family model that only works for the upper middle class.

The callousness on display here is breathtaking, yet it is commonplace amongst Republican elites.  Much of the contempt for Trump stems from the contempt the elite have for the segment of society that he is reaching out to, a segment the Republican elites have done their best to ignore for decades.  This shines through even when members of the elite try to learn from Trump’s example.

Yesterday John Daniel Davidson placed this contempt on full display in his Federalist article Like Trump, Right Should Speak To America’s Forgotten Fishtowns.  Unlike Williamson, Davidson argues that we can’t just expect these undesirables to die.

And sure, maybe they’re a nasty bunch of old drunks, like the rural white folks we meet in J.D. Vance’s gripping new memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy,” who can’t seem to get out of their own way long enough to get ahead. But they’re here nonetheless, in our towns and cities, and they’ve been stirred up by Trump…

But even when arguing that conservatives should change course and reach out to this forgotten group, Davidson wears his contempt for the working class on his sleeve (emphasis mine):

If conservatives want a political future, if they want to take back the GOP and lead the country, they’ll need to figure out a way to speak to these people. They will need to persuade them that their best chance for a better life doesn’t rest with the empty promises of a demagogue like Trump—or with Hillary Clinton and the tired old liberal policies that Democrats have imposed on our cities for generations.

They will have to go to the Fishtowns of America, to the forgotten and shuttered places, and by word and deed show the people there, however backward they might be, that they can rebuild their lives and their communities, and that they aren’t alone anymore.

This attempt by the Republican elites to minimize the plight of the white working class is not only foolish politically, but is also built on moral quicksand.  It is true that the dysfunction we observe typically involves poor choices by all involved.  But it is also true that these same elites have reworked marriage to a model that only works for the elite.  After gutting marriage, our elites strut around thumping their chests bragging about their ability to make this new corrupt family model work in their own lives.  If those poor slobs who work with their hands were more like the elite, moving from a marriage based family structure to a child support based system would work for them too.

Since the only legally meaningful part of our new marriage model is the wedding, our elites could sum up their advice to the working class with a handy slogan:

Let them eat wedding cake.

Kevin Williamson came from exactly the sort of community that he thinks should die, and his early family life was as bad as any he described in that article. His advice to people in those situations to rent a U-Haul and get out is quite realistic.

And I thought it was only the divorce that was legally enforced !

    Apart from that D – it’s perfect.

This quite clearly shows how corrupt and ineffective our education system is, because these people can’t seem to grasp some fairly obvious lessons from history.

We have the numbers, guns and anger. When SHTF for real, what do they think will happen to our so-called elites? This isn’t even a threat, just a readily observed observation whose pattern is very obvious.

Every one of these people deserves the place in hell they have reserved.

Love that you’re adding more political commentary to the site, Dalrock. Very insightful.

I did a post on The National Review’s “why can’t you just be a good white boy and die” article a while ago.

    https://anarchistnotebook.com/2016/03/25/white-genocide/

“Let’s face it; the type of Establishment whites who work at NR deep down only want a small number of The Elect “white people” to survive into the next generation. These are the kind that get invited to D.C. dinner parties and political junkets. They’re the type that have real “privilege” based on nepotism and cronyism. They want to be an ethnic minority consisting only of “approved” members.

In the meantime, they want these white people who “deserve” to die voting for the “right” GOP candidate, and it pisses them off that they aren’t playing the sucker as they have for years.

The message to less-to-do whites collectively amounts to this: you need to just hurry up and die already.

There is a reason why death rates for middle-aged white people in the country are rising rapidly, much of it through substance abuse, even as those rates drop for everyone else. While struggling to remain financially afloat amid a retracting economy, rapidly changing society, and hostile culture, they’re repeatedly lectured about how they’re oppressing other people who all the while are living in luxury. Add on top of that a publications like National Review spewing garbage like this.

They’re dying, but apparently not quickly enough. They’re pulling the switch for the wrong candidate on their way out the door.”

All I can say is domestic blowback is a bitch.

That the current political system in this country enjoys any respect at all by anyone not from among the One Percent shows just how successful the One Percent has been, via the MSM and the government indoctrination (misnamed “education”) system, in estupidating the population at large. Anyone who respects or plays within the system is akin to a cow that respects or looks forward to a visit to a slaughterhouse.

As individual advice to someone who is aware of the dysfunction and deliberately seeking to build a life apart from it, maybe it is. As a societal prescription, it’s no different than Obama’s pushing Section 8 housing into better neighborhoods on the premise that dysfunctional people will magically become functional themselves if they are relocated into functional communities.

@Chase great point! And hell is exactly where they’ll reap their rewards for pushing satan’s agenda.

  10. The Question says:

    @ dpmonahan

Swap out the whites mentioned in Williamson’s article with other impoverished ethnic communities and imagine NR running something like that. They’ve kicked out writers for saying far less controversial stuff.

He doesn’t want these communities to recover or remove government coercion that caused them to get to this point; he wants them to die because he hates them.

  11. Anonymous says:

This marriage model is nothing to write home about even for UMC types. It’s more feasible economically for them, and marginally less apt to produce bad outcomes both because UMC types are on average more intelligent (no point in closing eyes to this point) and have more robust social capital (which exists owing to previous two points). But it consumes UMC social capital too. It will just take longer for similar-sized effects to appear.

  12. thedeti says:

The marriage model works for the UMC on up because the money is there to support it and because the participants have the future time orientation and discipline to make it work. It doesn’t always make for a happy marriage, but the odds of the participants not divorcing are higher because there is so much at stake and both parties know it. They stay together for the kids, to marshal and conserve resources for the benefit of the kids, and to prevent the loss of resources and social status in the event of divorce. In the UMC most women take a big status hit in a divorce.

The problem with the model is that it’s essentially elites telling middle class folks on down “Just Be More Like Us!! Just get married! Just stay married! You’ll succeed!” But those folks don’t have the money or any other incentive to get or stay married, and they don’t have the FTO or the training to make it work when most of those marriages inevitably end.

I still don’t support Trump but love how he brings the skeletons out of the closet. They can’t explain their hatred of him without explaining their hatred of him.

The Elites will be just fine, seeing as they’re the ones engineering the mess.

  14. “They will have to go to the Fishtowns of America, to the forgotten and shuttered places, and by word and deed show the people there, however backward they might be, that they can rebuild their lives and their communities, and that they aren’t alone anymore.”

Stay out of my town you damned carpetbaggers.

  15. dpmonahan says:

He seems to want the best for the individuals trapped in those communities. As for the communities themselves, it is by no means clear they are worth saving.

  16. thedeti says:

    @ Dpmonahan:

And yet if Williamson had said the same thing about black communities mired in poverty, welfare dependency and substance abuse, he’d have been run out of NR on a rail… like Derbyshire before him. Just imagine if Williamson had said Chicago’s South Side or Watts or Harlem “deserved to die”. The hue and cry would have been deafening. Plus, for many of them, “Just Move Out” isn’t an option.

  17. Novaseeker says:

As deti says, the answer the elites have for these folks is simple: you should be more like us.

That’s all well and good, except that (1) you’re talking mostly about people who don’t have the same skill set and bag of ricks as your typical overeducated UMC white collar knowledge worker and (2) you can’t force people to move en masse. Someone who is in those communities and who *does* have the bag of tricks, like Vance or Williamson, *does* leave and “become more like us” by virtue of becoming upper middle class as they both have done. But they should also know well (and I believe Vance does know, while Williamson is more in contempt mode) that even if you could pick up everyone in those communities and drop them in the suburbs of DC, Dallas or Atlanta, you won’t see them thrive like the people are doing who are already there — because they don’t have the skill set to thrive there (at least many of them do not).

Education is usually ballyhooed as the answer to this problem, because the few Williamsons and Vances who do elevate themselves tend to do so via education, but again these are outliers. Most of the community is not like that — most people in any community are not going to end up at Yale Law School — which is basically an admission ticket to the upper middle class — like Vance. Most of them are not going to be knowledge workers, either. And the problem is only going to get bigger and bigger as more and more jobs fall to automation, including white collar jobs, in the years and decades ahead. No-one, as far as I am aware, has a credible answer as to what we are going to do when the kind of malaise that one sees in, say, WV or Michigan spreads more broadly due to automation taking away jobs, which in turn takes away money, which in turn impeded family formation under the current setup for marriage/divorce/support.

I think it’s quite correct that the sexual revolution “works” for people who are in that higher set — the upper part of the middle, the upper middle and beyond. Many of these people have experimented with drugs without becoming addicts, have partied (some harder than others) in college and in the immediate post-college years, and have been involved in numerous sexual relationships prior to marrying in late 20s or early 30s. And they have lower divorce rates and so on, so they then turn around and say “hey, the issue can’t be the sexual revolution, because look at me, I did all that stuff, and we’re fine financially and marriage-wise”. What is overlooked is that the reason they are fine is because they are typically well, well above average in numerous categories: drive, discipline, ambition, focus, intelligence. Well above average. That provides a lot of buffers, and it also helps them keep from getting out of control, where people with more average or below average “scores” in those traits get derailed by substance abuse or the promiscuity culture. They refuse to see that while the free-for-all system we have more or less “works” if you are well above average in key life success traits, it doesn’t work at all for people who are average or below in those same traits. The system they have created serves the interests and desires of the people at the right tail in these traits (they have their fun while young, then settle down and so on), but it derails lives for people in the middle and below average in those traits. The system is not designed with the average in mind, however — it’s designed with the elite in mind.

This is, by the way, often the case with a liberalized system in any area. Liberalization always helps the strongest hands to a disproportionate degree. In the sexual/marital area, this has also been the case. The UMC and other cultural elites refuse to see it because it makes them uncomfortable to think that the system they support, and which works for them, is precisely a key driver of why there is so much dysfunction at the lower levels of society, because it does not work for people who are not right-tailed in several key life traits. The current elites have no sense of “noblesse oblige” because they don’t see themselves as being a kind of nobility with obligations to the broader society. They hide behind the idea of meritocracy, and pat themselves on the back for their success, without realizing that a meritocratic system will still have its meritocratic nobility — namely themselves. They do not have this sense of themselves, which is why they do not have a sense of responsibility to the broader culture to promote norms which work for the broader culture and not just for themselves. They are largely blind to this due to a self-congratulatory mindset that tends to predominate, rather than a realization that it is only a small percentage of the population who can actually live like they do. The fact that most of this set lives in communities that are dominated by this set only serves to amplify the perspective among its members as well.

    —-

On the political level, the GOP cannot win if it alienates the peasantry. That is their base. The folks who are in the base of the Democratic party — single women, non-whites, LGBTQWTFBBQ — are not the base of the GOP and never will be the base of the GOP. The GOP made a strategic error after the last presidential election in thinking that it needed to get more of the Democractic party’s base to vote GOP in order to win. That isn’t really possible without becoming the Democratic party. In reality, it is as you say — the people who run the GOP have a lot of contempt for its base, and have held that base in contempt for some time. You can practically see Mitt Romney shaking with raw, pure anger at the base of the GOP, to be honest — how dare they?? They thought they would foist over multicultural Jeb in an effort to get Latino votes, and that the white folks who are getting screwed by trade and immigration would just go along again because .. what else? They can’t vote for a Democrat, right, because they’re even worse, right? This strategy failed spectacularly because of the rise of Trump. The key question now, however, is, assuming Trump loses, what happens next.

No doubt the establishment leadership of the GOP will try to reassert itself rather strongly. A Trump loss would be used as Exhibit A in a rather truculent “I told you so” line of attack by the establishment. Yet, I am unsure how successful they will be. I very much doubt that, now that something like Trump has happened, the base is going to go back into the mode it was in previously, and permit the leadership of the party to go the Jeb and Marco route to become a more Latino party and try to peel voters from the Dems. The issue that the GOP has is that it doesn’t like its base and would prefer a different base. All well and good, but as Peggy Noonan wrote a few months ago, it’s much easier for the base to elect a new leadership than it is for the leadership to elect a new base.

  18. Salvatore says:

I like Trump for a lot reasons. He wants to stop sending American industry to China. He wants to Revive American industry. He wants a common sense immigration policy. He wants to protect the borders — something you would think Uncle Sam would have done immediately after 9/11, but NO. Americans are treated like criminals at the airports, supposedly for “security” reasons, and as us Americans get treated like criminals at the airports, we have OPEN BORDERS where any and all kinds of criminals and terrotists can enter freely into the United States. So Uncle Sam is really not that interested in “security” for the USA. But Trump is. Obama gave the Mexicans drug lords as they’re called weapons and invited them into the United States : “Operation Fast And Furious”. They’re killing Americans with weapons Obama gave them, but Obama “is deeply opposed to gun violence.” The Americans they kill the most with the guns the black Obama gave them are Black Americans! The Mexicans Obama gave weapons to are pushing Blacks out of traditonally Black neighborhoods in Southern California at the point of guns black Obama gave to the Mexicans. This is amazing! But it’s TRUE : “Operation Fast and Furious”.

Trump doesn’t want war with Russia, he doesn’t want Uncle Sam bank-rolling and giving weapons to the Islamic Jiahdist groups [ which is what Obama and Hillary have been doing all along ] and they give weapons out to the Muslim immigrants also by the way. Hillary wants to bring in never ending millions of Muslims into the United States — while arming them with tons of weapons and ammo. No one ever asks why exactly do the Muslms have to immigrate to the United States [ or Europe], the Muslims have 50 Muslim countries in the world to call their own, they don’t need the United States, they already 50 Muslim countries of their own in the world.

Little discussed aspect about Muslims. The Muslims in Europe, in addition to all the rape and violence and arson and riots and vandalism/destruction of Christian churches all over Europe, in addition to all the violence they commit against the Europeans, they’re also on Islamic Jihad against the canines in Europe. For some sort of Islamic “religious” reason they think canines should be poisoned and killed in all kinds of horrific ways. They’re agitating in Europe to make it ILLEGAL to have a dog.

ALL Americans, especially American dog owners and Americans who may not have a dog but appreciate dogs, please go online and do a Search about this. Islamic Jihad Against Canines in Europe. It’s going on in Europe, the Muslim immigrants are poisoning dogs all over Europe and are agitating all over Europe to make it ILLEGAL to have a dog. Trump doesn’t want Muslims, Hillary wants never ending millions of Muslims in the United States.

Again, the Muslims have 50 Muslim countries to call their own ; Also, the Muslim countries don’t allow Muslim immigrants from other Muslim countries to immigrate into Muslim countries! And again, the Muslims are on Islamic Muslim JIHAD against canines in Europe.

To those who say not all Muslims are on Jihad against canines, this is true. BUT, the Muslims who don’t go on JIHAD against canines NEVER try to STOP the Muslims who DO go on Jiahd aganist canines, so the Muslims who don’t actually go on Jihad against canines are TOTALLY USELESS when it comes to protecting our dogs. We are the ones responsible for protecting our dogs and other animals. The Muslims wage Jihad against other animals also.

Obama/Hillary are NOT going to protect our animals, they’re doing everything they can to flood the USA with Islamic Jihad AGAINST OUR ANIMALS. MUCH BETTER chance we can protect our animals in America under Trump. The less Muslims in the United States, the LESS chance Islamic Jihad AGIANST OUR DOGS AND OTHER ANIMALS WILL BREAK OUT. Islamic Jihad against canines is already happening in Europe. Look into it, there’s alot of info online. You’ll NEVER hear about the Muslim immigrant Islamic Jihad against the canines in Europe in the mainstream media.

I don’t think UMC marriage should be glorified so much. Yes, the divorce rate is lower, but that is replaced by the slow-poison characteristics that kill the man’s soul, such as :

    a) All surplus resources go into increasingly useless things for the woman, such as diamonds. The man is never allowed to work less. Ever. He must still work very hard despite the increasingly unnecessary things his money must go towards.
    b) The housework problem is worst in this class. The woman will demand that the man do entirely unnecessary housework, just because she gets a high from making him do demeaning labor. It matters not that his primary profession earns him $100, $200, or $300/hour. Even worse, what if he wants to be an entrepreneur? Should his time really have to be wasted in THIS manner?
    c) When divorce does happen, the man has a lot more to lose in terms of asset division, CS, etc. Women living high on the hog while feeding their children the bare minimum of white rice to keep them alive is only possible with a UMC-level CS judgement. Working class CS payments are not enough for a huge surplus to be available to the rapacious female.

Don’t overrate what a UMC man gets out of marriage.

  20. Part of the abandonment these people have is that no one will help them; they have no tribe. At a time when school has never been more expensive, no one gives a damn about smart poor white boys. The military is frequently their best bet (although it should be noted that fewer people qualify for service than is commonly supposed, physical stock has gone down and standards have gone up since WW2). So, seriously they kind of have to risk death to get a better life. Don’t even get me started on middle aged men who get laid off, society expects them to just die.

“Just move” is callous as hell. Ever try to get a job with no connections in this economy? Ever try to save enough money to move when it takes everything you have to keep body and soul together?

Theres an old Bill Burr bit about how every white guy is a complete individual. If you don’t make it, regardless of the reason, it’s your own damn fault and fuck you. “If they were as smart and hardworking as I am they would be fine.” See? No reason to help them, it’s their fault the factory closed and that they are the only ethnic group it’s de facto legal to discriminate against.

The worst part is, Christians don’t help other Christians almost at all it seems when it comes to employment. Part of the strength of early Methodism is that John Wesley encouraged Methodists to hire and do business with other Methodists whenever possible. Why wait till a brother is on the street to feed him when he wants to work for his daily bread now?

“Plus, for many of them, ‘Just Move Out’ isn’t an option.”

It’s possible that’s true of a few, but you’re doing for poor whites what “liberals” do for poor blacks – deny that they have free will, volition and moral agency.

My parents moved our family from Central America to the US. When my parents got tired of the crime in our poor immigrant neighborhood in LA, they moved us to the rural Pacific Northwest. Moving is a lot more difficult when you’re poor and have no job on the other side, but that doesn’t make it impossible.

That doesn’t mean they’ll automatically make it to the middle class. My parents didn’t. But all us kids did.

“Most of the community is not like that — most people in any community are not going to end up at Yale Law School — which is basically an admission ticket to the upper middle class — like Vance.”

They don’t have to make it to the upper middle class. As mentioned above, my parents never made it to the middle class. What they did do was take my siblings and me from a crime ridden neighborhood in LA to a place where the schools are more than just babysitting services for juvenile criminals.

That gave my siblings and me a chance to learn and we took it. We all made it to the middle class.

It usually takes families several generations to climb up the ladder, but each family has to at least make the choices that set the next generation up for success.

By the way, university isn’t the only path to the middle class. Skilled trades are still in demand. But you have to go where the jobs are.

Obviously, terrible government policies (immigration policy, trade policy, excessive regulations, as as our host pointed out, anti-family policies) make all of this worse. But, just as blacks need to stop blaming all their problems on whites and need to start acknowledging their own bad decisions and making better decisions, the same holds true for poor whites.

  23. Bee says:

    @dpmonahan,

“His advice to people in those situations to rent a U-Haul and get out is quite realistic.”

It is not realistic, it is heartless and/or naive. You and Williamson are heartless and/or naive. All the blue collar guys that moved to North Dakota, western Canada, and Texas to work the shale boom in the last 3 years were laid off 9 months ago. Lots more layoffs in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Virginia of coal miners. President Obama has killed the coal industry. Also, H2-B visas kill blue collar jobs.

Exactly where should they take their U-haul? Right now, where are large numbers of blue collar jobs open, jobs that pay more than minimum wage?

  24. Umbool says:

Williamson vs Vance is a great contrast because the latter emphasizes (at least in the excepts of his book I’ve seen) the role of luck and other people in his success, stating that were it not for his grandmother and mentors in the Marines he’d never have made it to the UMC. By contrast Williamson’s whole article is seems premised on exactly the opposite a delusional neoliberal self-made man story”I made it out of dysfunctional poverty solely by hard work, therefore everyone in dysfunctional poverty is there because they are lazy”.
I’m no Trump supporter but Trump’s Republican Establishment opponents are the best argument for him, a fact they seem oblivious too.

  25. Ras al Ghul says:

The country can get along just fine without any of the elites and they keep talking that way and they’ll be picking out hemp neckties eventually.

I am actually happy they’re talking this way, that they are this arrogant, because it makes it clear that they’re are the enemy of the nation and the people. I will take the work class everyday over these reptiles that have no loyalty to anyone.

That is the wonderful thing about Trump, the masks have come off finally.

  26. Great analysis of the Republican politics Novaseeker. I think we can extrapolate and answer to the key question by looking to the past.

“The key question now, however, is, assuming Trump loses, what happens next.”

The United States is developing the same internal conflict as the Late Roman Republic did with the populares and optimates. The optimates imagined themselves the ‘saviors of the Republic’ and ‘keepers of traditional Roman virtues’ but the truth was many were simply leftover greedy lackeys of the dictator Sulla. The optimates didn’t really give a damn about reforms or the Roman Republic, they only cared about bringing down Julius Caesar.

The ‘optimates’ of today are DLC Democrats, Republican Establishment, and Lamestream Media. They are a club of rivals that only band together like a Cicero, Pompey and Cato the Younger to deal with a systemic threat like a Julius Caesar.Donald Trump is simply another ‘populare’ politician like the Gracchi Brothers, Marius, and Julius Caesar. Killing off the’populare’ politicans didn’t restore the Roman Republic.

Trump might not succeed but he will blaze the trail for a ‘true wolf’ to seize power. You have many of the same conditions such as a real estate crisis, foreign wars burdening the citizen soldiers, deficit spending, imported slave labor suppressing wages , chronic unemployment, currency devaluation , and systematic corruption.

Our spineless Congress is all to happy to give up their constitutional responsibilities to the President and Supreme Court. We are one ambitious decorated and beloved military general who aspires to the presidency away from a dictatorship. Such a person could easily harness the message and supporters of Donald Trump.

Imagine how ripe the base will become for harvest after eight years of destabilizing rule of a ‘Sulla’ like Hillary Clinton whose sole goal is to keep her oligarch friends happy.

The very Republican base, white males, are year after year being made less loyal to the United States of America by being pushed out of higher education, made economic losers, and attacked culturally by liberal social engineering. This well-armed base who supplies its young to the military eventually won’t give a damn about democracy, the constitution, or patriotism and will simply vote somebody who can ‘deliver’ the goods. The golden rule of kingship.

I don’t think this ends after Donald Trump. It is only the beginning.

  27. Oleaginous Outrager says:

So @Oscar, your parents moved you from a “crime ridden LA neighborhood” ( “crime ridden” = “too many vibrants”) to the “rural Pacific Northwest”, meaning one the mostly white towns that are under siege. Bully for you.

Now, when the towns like those that saved you are falling apart (due to “terrible government policies”), where exactly are they supposed to pick up and move to? What safe haven can they seek? They do indeed have free will, volition and moral agency, but when the entire government, from the Feds on down, is stepping on your neck, it’s very difficult to reach your bootstraps, much less pull yourself up by them.

By comparison, blacks have a huge amount of resources and opportunities funneled their way, but they still get nowhere, so what’s the new plan? Like your parents, move ’em to a white neighborhood, where the power of Magic Dirt is strongest!

“Skilled trades are still in demand. But you have to go where the jobs are.” Where? Provide specific examples. By the way sumthin’, the workforce participation rate alone says you simple bromides are bollix.

  29. Per Desteen says:

After the destruction of the traditions and culture that were transmitted to all earning classes through the Church (whatever form, if patriarchal and biblical, even if there were dogmatic differences), it takes and will take an act of educated will to re-establish the base foundation of family as the support network. Poor and uneducated people have significant challenges in this regard. Transmission of these political, economic, and cultural virtues was primarily accomplished through religion.

This is a secular reason why Churchianity should be crushed with an iron boot without mercy. Only religion is capable of transmitting virtue to all citizens who by the very nature of humanity are not equal.

Western civilization’s survival requires a return to a traditionalist belief system in some fashion. Those citizens that are not capable of using their reason to establish or adopt a moral code that is compatible with civilization need a focal point to believe in, and a doctrine to adopt. Without religion, faith and belief will flow to a man, who will typically be a strong leader and, in many cases, a non-benevolent tyrant.

This is why many men, and all women, are followers. It’s lonely as a leader, and its far easier to follow someone or God. Men used to fulfill this role with their women as leader, and the man could then follow God. When God is usurped by feminism, so is the role of the husband, and indeed the very template of civilization.

Recovery either requires the mass re-adoption of a third party accountable moral code either through religion or through a secular method.

Note that this applies in pre-christian times. It’s simply part of humanity.

Feminism is truly a destroyer of worlds.

    @greenmantle

I read an interesting article a year or so ago — people are less willing to relocate to other parts of the country because the job market is so poor and rents and child care costs are so high. They don’t want to relocate their whole family for a job that might only last a few months. For the working poor, having Granny nearby to take care of the children when they are sick can prevent them from being fired from their jobs. They do NOT want to move hundreds of miles away to a new town where they won’t have any safety net.

Many people of my parents generation (born in the late 20s/early 30s) moved away from rural areas where decent jobs were almost non-existent to the suburbs of big cities where a reasonably intelligent person could get a pretty good job and a brand new house within a couple of years of arrival. If you offered the rural poor of today the same sort of opportunity, many of them would take it. But those days are over. You will always have the doomed and the screwed, as well as the lazy and the worthless, but times really have changed and for a lot of people there is simply no where to go whether they are white collar or blue collar.

With the under 30 hours per week rotating shiftwork jobs that people are being offered now, it isn’t even possible to work a second job for a while to get together enough money to start a small business or relocate or whatever.

The UMC does not seem to understand how trapped a lot of ordinary people are.

If a woman’s IQ/income level negate the deleterious effects of cock carousel, that would explain some of the conflict between the peasantry and elites.

If income level/IQ are irrelevant factors, this dichotomy of the chaste poor/debaucherous demogauges could be explained by r/K selection theory. The poor, in an environment of scarce resources, breed few, high quality offspring; while the rich, who live in luxury, breed as rabbits. The advent of birth control means we should count sex, not birth, as r-selected behavior.

  32. thedeti says:

Trump’s success is a direct result of the GOP’s continual alienation and selling out of its base: Working- and middle-class married people. The GOP has betrayed and sold them down the river one too many times. The GOP’s candidates have repeatedly embarked on a failing strategy of inching left to try picking off select parts of the Dem base, and it’s never worked. The other thing that’s not worked is every time some GOPer says something and some Dem’s nose gets bent out of shape. the GOPer falls all over him/herself apologizing. Or the GOPer has to explain his divorce/affair despite trumpeting “family values”. Then we never ever hear the end of it, and the GOPer goes down in flames.

A huge part of Trump’s appeal is his hoisting the middle finger at the Dems, the media and other elites. He just won’t play their game. He instead calls them out as hypocrites, shuts down Megyn Kelly, tells SJWs to go f**k themselves, and generally refuses to do what he’s told. He took it a bit too far with mealymouthed attacks on the Muslim parents who spoke at the DNC — failing to realize you can’t attack ANYONE whose child has been killed. He also is independently wealthy and is beholden to no one. That he is a first class asshole only seems to help him with the base. The base has been literally screaming for a candidate to tell the Dems where to stick it. That’s why Trump has resonated so deeply, really.

In the (increasingly likely) event Trump loses, yes, there’ll be some “I told you so’s” from the NeverTrumpers. But I don’t think things will change too much, really.

  33. Blue collar American industrial jobs of the 50s, 60 and 70s are never coming back. And if we’re honest, marriage, as it were, ain’t coming back again either.

As for politics, I don’t expect nor do I understand why any modern day US politician, of ANY affiliation, would really care about the poor and uneducated in rural Kentucky or anywhere else?

I think it’s very difficult for average Americans to understand the shear level of abject dysfunction in Washington D.C. You could visit it for week and attend hearings and voting sessions and still not appreciate the magnificent fail that is the US political system. Sure, we see the white hot bickering of Red vs. Blue politicians on TV, but that gives off the mistaken impression that any of this matters to the people there.
    It doesn’t.
First, US politicians (senators and representatives) spend as little time in Washington as humanly possible. They understandably hate that place.
Second, most are earning $125,000 to $250,000+ in salary, plus health benefits, plus life insurance, plus months of paid vacation time, plus platinum level travel privileges and other dubiously covered “miscellaneous” paid expenses, like chaffeurs and heavily discounted child care. Some even receive housing allowances.
Third, the most work a politician will ever do is attend cocktail parties for thousands of people they hate over the period of a calendar year. Their party unions will force them to regularly devote hours of time each week making demeaning “dial-a-dollar” telemarketing phone calls to hundreds of big wig donors in their states, whom they also despise, solely to get re-elected.
That’s pretty much all that gets done..
There is simply no time left over to draft or read proposed legislation, or understand it’s potential impact on their district, let alone show up and actually vote on it. And forget rescinding old laws that no longer apply.
So it’s entirely understandable that Republicans or Democrats would not give a crap about poor people.
Ta Da! This the American political system in Washington right now in 2016.
Completely corrupt and broken and no will or understanding on how to fix it.

    Meanwhile, the robots are coming.
Nothing we know today will be same.
Maybe this reality is where sentiments like Mr. Williamson’s “deserve to die” gestate and take root?

But make no mistake, things will change in profound ways over the next 5 to 10 years.
Robots don’t eat, piss, shit, breathe or fuck.
They don’t rent or pay off mortgages with property taxes inside them to fund local schools.
They don’t attend churches or tithe.
They also don’t marry, have children or get divorced or pay alimony and child support.
They don’t send their daughters off to $30K per year undergrad universities to be brainwashed by feminists.
    They don’t vote.
They might in foreign wars, but they most certainly won’t eat wedding cake.

The level of protracted human suffering of the destitute, unemployed/underemployed, uneducated (whether white or any other race) is actually only in its infancy. The drain circling of these poor souls and the decay of their communities will only accelerate.

First, allow me to reiterate: we need to fix – or at least diminish – the terrible government policies that are exacerbating the problem. We agree there. But those policies don’t just affect whites. They affect everyone. Perhaps you can point to specific advantages my parents had over poor whites (keep in mind, my parents refused to accept welfare, didn’t speak English when we moved to the US, and because they were adults when we moved here, still don’t speak English like natives).

“… meaning one the mostly white towns that are under siege… ”

They were pretty heavily Hispanic by the time we got there, and still are. My wife, kids and I moved back there after I left the Army. I worked in the oil industry (in Texas) for a while, got laid off when oil prices tanked, now we live in the Midwest.

    “Where? Provide specific examples.”

I know the aerospace company I work for is hiring hundreds of skilled tradesmen, along with engineers like me, and pretty much everything else. So are many other companies in my area. That’s why I’m here. But if you’d like more examples…

“By the way sumthin’, the workforce participation rate alone says you simple bromides are bollix.”

They’re not bromides, nor are they simple. I agree that the labor participation rate is far too low, and I’ve pointed that out to my “liberal” friends who think Obama is just wonderful. The fact remains, however, that you can only help those who are willing to help themselves by making good choices at least most of the time. That isn’t simple, nor is it easy.

I’ll tell you the same thing I tell my “liberal” friends who claim it’s impossible for blacks and Hispanics to get ahead (and, ironically, what my mom told me). Look at the Asians. What are they doing differently than other ethnic groups? What can we learn from them?

Thee old elite consisted of people who made physical objects. Our new elite wants to make money, not things. 36. Dave says:

If Trump loses (as he is likely to do), it won’t be because America prefers Hillary; it will be because Trump, as a person, personally alienates his supporters, and left them with no other choice than to choose the so-called “Lesser of two evils”.
While it is possible that the media have portrayed Trump as a dangerous individual, the fact is Trump himself has given them too many opportunities to do so. You don’t douse yourself in gasoline, and go around playing with a blowtorch, when you know that some bloodthirsty mafia is after your head.

  37. Dalrock says:

    @Oscar

First, allow me to reiterate: we need to fix – or at least diminish – the terrible government policies that are exacerbating the problem. We agree there.

The problem with Williamson’s/National Review’s U-Haul statement isn’t that it isn’t good advice on an individual level. The problem is it is being advocated as public policy to avoid upsetting the preferred policies of the elite. The elites quite like the results of cheap foreign labor (from nannies to offshore manufacturing), and they quite like their new improved version of marriage. Anyone who doesn’t like these things can therefore either become an elite, or die. This is the message, and it is astonishingly out in the open.

  38. Bee says:

    @Oscar,

“But those policies don’t just affect whites. They affect everyone. ”

White males have the extra handicap of being hurt by affirmative action and/or quotas. Hispanics, blacks, and women don’t have that handicap.

You don’t have to actively seek out welfare or quotas to benefit from them.

  39. Looking Glass says:

    Two things:

    1) Don’t buy the narrative that Trump is going to lose. The Media would be operating in a very different manner if that was the truth. We’ve already gotten several poll methodology changes to hide how terrible Clinton polls, which is a sign that panic is setting in among the Elites.

Clinton is only polling slightly ahead while Stocks are at all-time highs. While they’ll work to keep them up there through November, all of the Insiders are already setup for the crash which they know is coming. Clinton’s election is one headline about Deutsche Bank from being over. (Side point: if you have extensive Equities exposure, I would suggest looking to rebalance. )

We have conclusive proof from the 2004 Election that people will both ignore & life to pollsters about their voting preferences. It’s not a huge amount, but it’s in the range of 5% against the Media’s preferred narrative. Kerry thought he was going to be President for several hours because of the way they thought Ohio was trending. And that was just about voting for the Man that won a war. The Media is in full-on ugly mode right now.

The Elites are terrified, even if they won’t say it yet. The electoral math isn’t hard. Trump will camp out in the Upper Midwest, which will be enough votes to win him the election. Remember that Clinton is the anti-White Working Class candidate. And she recently outright said they’d be raising taxes on the middle class. (People forget how terrible of a candidate that Clinton is.)

In a society where South Park is highly regarded comedy and Game of Throne is “high art”, you honestly think Trump being brash is going to change most people’s voting preferences? Yes, the culture has degraded and Trump is the avatar of “Eff-YOU!” to the Elites. When even the imageboards are noticeably starting to turn really anti-Hillary, the cascade is building.

    2) On the main topic at hand about the writers, there’s always this assumption among far too many people that claim to be Elite that everything should work like they desire it to work. Along with that, they feel the world should work for them, while they never have to take on any burden while being outliers.

This is a fully confirmed lack of Wisdom, but it’s the real, driving issue. The nasty mash-up of Pride & Vanity that both relishes being “special” but can’t allow themselves to notice that their preferred situation cannot work for others. Callous, cruel and vane to the core. That sums up most Elites throughout history pretty well, actually.

  40. Fiddlesticks says:

The Catch-22 of “just move” is that restructuring our economy to require BOTH spouses to work means the couple can now only move if their COMBINED income after the move will be greater, regardless of whether it is a better opportunity for one spouse.

In those horrible old Ozzie & Harriet days, a better opportunity or a transfer for the husband was a no-brainer. Not so much anymore.

Again, this simply privileges nepotistic elites. My aunt was in line for a white-collar job but got muscled aside at the last minute because a man from out of town had been hired as a junior executive, and had the leverage to insist on a 2-for-1 deal where his wife would get a position, too. My uncle had no juice, so guess who was able to “just move” when push came to shove?

“Kevin Williamson came from exactly the sort of community that he thinks should die, and his early family life was as bad as any he described in that article. His advice to people in those situations to rent a U-Haul and get out is quite realistic.”

U-Haul is one of the most expensive do-it-yourself-movers; nobody living at or near poverty rents trucks from them. Anybody facing ‘reality’ these past decades already would know that. Mr. Reasonable Reality doesn’t, tho.

Likewise, you and Kev and all the rest of the smug MC and UMC punks have no clue how difficult it is to ‘get out’. Moving is very expensive, and setting up in a new place also is expensive, and far beyond the economic (and sometimes, physical) capacities of most people in poverty. The solution of you and your fat pals is, call Mayflower and have them semi your stuff across the country! like duh… then rent a limo and tag along behind, in comfort and convenience. Hey problem solved! You poor people are SO dense.

Unbelievable, you are so out-of-touch with what’s happened in this country, and with the day-to-day Survival Life that 70 million people endure across New Improved Feminist Diversity Amerika. Your nation stood with its foot on our throats for the past forty years — while UC and UMC whites became fellow-predators upon us — and now your ‘solution’ is . . . oh, hitch up your bootstraps like Kev, hey take another run at that football, Charlie Brown. It’ll all be fine, you just need the right attitude, like Me! I mean, just rent a U-Haul and MOVE. See how smart I am? No wonder me ‘n Kev are Winners, and you are Losers.

That message has (in some cases literally) been beaten into me decade after decade. I witnessed the betrayals of many other white men, too. By their own families and ‘friends’, often. Forced from jobs, forced from education, falsely accused, falsely imprisoned, defrauded, cheated, and I’ll save the rest for the Lord’s arrival. Like to leave him some room.

As I despise what constitutes an ‘elite’ in the current U.S., that’s out. Looks like death is the only option. Death it is, then! by democratic demand. No nation ever deserved it more.

I watched an episode of Watch What Happens Live, which is a talk show put on by the creator of all those Housewives of Beverly Hills shows. The host did a poll asking the audience would they vote for Trump or Clinton. Trump was at 62%. This is the show aimed at liberal women and the homosexual community.

When UMC people get transferred or take a new job, they generally get some kind of moving allowance. When the working poor move, they have to borrow money or use their savings or put the expenses on a credit card. Since 40 or 50% of people now admit that they couldn’t cover $500 worth of expenses without asking relatives for help I would say that few working class couples could make a geographic move these days. A single guy could probably go to job interviews and sleep in his car, etc., but not possible for a couple and certainly not possible for a family.

  46. Original Laura says:

Great. Seeing how you aren’t even poor, it should be extra easy for you, your family, and your Central American/Mexican/Somali/Ethiopian etc. friends to move right on back to your OWN nation. Because the combination of your mass-insurgency, on top of the imposition of female-supremacy during the Seventies, has contributed greatly to the destruction of this nation, and the removal of every good thing from within its borders . . . replaced by your shitty, utterly unsustainable New Amerika.

Alas, no. When I went to “sex education” in 1977, it consisted of one class per week. It was good: it humanized the scary Vice Principal. We got our information and that was that. It didn’t seem to stop teenage girls having babies out of wedlock like it was touted to. They just simply found some dude to knock them up when they got bored with school, and off to welfare they went.
My son had to sit through a massive course of “Physical Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) as a topic in the years he went to high school. It consisted of tolerance brainwashing for weirdos also known as LGBTIQ*****. No emphasis on literacy, numeracy, mathematics, engineering science.
The elites want this. They want a world similar to “The Unsullied” in Game of Thrones. A bunch of raceless, sexless, nameless drones, devoid of association, family, religion, history that they can insert into the machinery of capitalism at will and replace with a minimum of cost. That is their aim, and they have caught Western civilization inside the two pincers of feminism on one side and Islam on the other to achieve it.

Not something that Amoricons, even those who like to call themselves “Christians” (when it doesn’t cost them anything), sign up for willingly.

As I recently discovered up close and personally, if you’re an unemployed white, middle-aged male Christian, you’re lucky if you can even get so much as prayer out of your “brethren” (prayer being the only thing I ever asked of them or would ever dream of asking of them). Apparently, being unemployed as a white, middle-aged male isn’t a concern God is to be bothered with.

Fortunately, the unemployment problem was recently resolved (no thanks to my fellow Christians, but to some old former colleagues, vocal non-believers every last one, who noticed my status on LinkedIn and quickly reached out to help).

Communities have always sprung up and died independent of trade policy, and the welfare state is allowing people to avoid the painful but necessary step of moving on to greener pastures.

I work in special education in a rural area that has a lot of poor white people. The idea that they can just pack up and move somewhere else and solve all the problems is laughable. Where should they go? Where is this magical place with a bright future for people who have no money and a 85-90 IQ? When their old beater car breaks down, as they often do, they can’t even get up to the school for meetings unless they can borrow a family member’s car or walk. And they often do walk or borrow a car. They’re poor and lower IQ, but they aren’t monsters. They love their children. They have as much right to live as anyone in the UMC does.

What they need is strong social mores to serve as guard rails. Really, we all need that, but some people have a genetic predisposition and higher IQ that allows them to function in a society without guard rails. So if you were unlucky enough to be born without a high IQ and a certain genetic predisposition, you should just die? Is that the official Republican platform now?

    Screw that.

Feminism, the sexual revolution, and the new marriage model, coupled with open borders and global trade deals, have devastated these people’s lives and there is NOTHING they can do about it.

Everything democrats and the Republican establishment hate about low class whites is twice as bad among Hispanics in the US, and 5 times as bad among black Americans. 58. Sunshine says:

Education is usually ballyhooed as the answer to this problem, because the few Williamsons and Vances who do elevate themselves tend to do so via education, but again these are outliers. Most of the community is not like that — most people in any community are not going to end up at Yale Law School — which is basically an admission ticket to the upper middle class — like Vance. Most of them are not going to be knowledge workers, either. And the problem is only going to get bigger and bigger as more and more jobs fall to automation, including white collar jobs, in the years and decades ahead. No-one, as far as I am aware, has a credible answer as to what we are going to do when the kind of malaise that one sees in, say, WV or Michigan spreads more broadly due to automation taking away jobs, which in turn takes away money, which in turn impeded family formation under the current setup for marriage/divorce/support.

    .

As you know, I live in Michigan. Part of my caseload for the past two years has been at a rural high school. That is a new setting for me so it’s been interesting to see how the district I’m in now handles continuing education for theses students for whom college is unrealistic. I have been pretty impressed with the emphasis on skilled trade programs. A lot of our kids are going off to learn plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, and the like. Those jobs are less likely to evaporate than a manufacturing job would be. You don’t end up being UMC, but you can keep a roof over your head and food on the table. Our guidance counselors don’t seem to push college hard for students for whom it really isn’t appropriate, but I have worked in schools where they did push college on kids and I always felt bad for those kids because I knew they would end up with a lot of debt and no job prospects.

The concept of the church pulling together to help a brother and soon-to-be husband — based on my experience, having been unemployed thrice in my working life — was foreign to me, despite the fact that there were businessmen in the congregation. There are risks on our end with employing people- more so everyday. Add to that the politics and attitude of most people, christians and non christians alike, and if you need help you have to at least hint not so subtly. We don’t want to insult you. Usually the need has to become super apparent before someone will step in and then we are left to wonder if there was such a need why didn’t this person ask? I agree with you that there would not be any quotas for the person working at home as a seamstress. But, Human Resources at the fruit packing plant is too shrewd to acknowledge their participation in quotas in hiring, promotions, and layoffs. They are not going to tell you or one of your relatives that they were hired instead of an equally qualified Anglo. Likewise, they are not going to inform anyone that your relative survived a layoff because they are a minority.

Don’t be myopic. Anglo males are discriminated against by written Government policy in jobs, job advancement, business contract awards, and in school admissions. I know an Anglo fire fighter in my home city. Smart, hard working. He can not be promoted any higher because he does not get bonus points added to his test scores. Minorities get bonus points. If he scores a 100% on the promotion test he still loses out to the minority guy that scores an 86% and gets 15 bonus points.

Even white females suffer, see the college court case of Abigail Fisher – she lost at the Supreme Court.

  65. Dalrock,

The elites quite like the results of cheap foreign labor (from nannies to offshore manufacturing), and they quite like their new improved version of marriage. Anyone who doesn’t like these things can therefore either become an elite, or die. This is the message, and it is astonishingly out in the open.

That was pretty much HRC’s message to the unemployed coal miner in WVa. Please vote for me and after you do…. would you just hurry up and die? Because I have no use for you and you have no value to society if all you can do is mine coal.

Oscar gave good advice. I usually advise younger Millennials to learn a trade when they don’t know what they want to do. I’m an UMC Millennial engineer who prefers to pay tradesmen in most cases to fix plumbing, electricity, appliances, and cars. Reliable tradesman are extremely hard to find. Most don’t return calls. My best friend is an electrical foreman and confirms the difficulty in finding good tradesmen. My brother is an HVAC technician and has tons of work.

Pastors are usually worthless for job advice since most haven’t worked. If you’re hurting for work, develop job leads by calling people you’ve hired to ask if they know of anyone who needs an extra hand. Ask people at church if they know anyone who needs an extra hand. If you show up reliably and work hard, you can leverage it into better opportunities. It’s all about getting an opportunity, making as much as you can out of it, and using the experience to get a better job in the future. Successes snowball.

I was reflecting recently on why the “Church” has become the way it is, and it really, truly, comes down to the removal of any sanction by the body. This is the reason you can’t go to someone to ask for help, easily, and don’t know who to even ask in the first place.

The reason sanction (either “legal” or social, within the church) is so important is that there’s no way to trust anyone. In an “all give; no take” environment, you’re being played for a fool if you give anything to anyone. That’s what we’ve done with the “church” as a collective group. Even in the better churches, the nature of their current structure makes actual interaction fairly difficult. Especially as if you admit to weakness, you’re going to get gossiped right out of the church. (Or, conversely, if you go full-bore and turn your weakness into a “woe is me!” session for the church, they’ll feed your Vanity.)

Without the ability to have even basic justice within the Church, everyone becomes independent actors that sit in pews. The rest of the “church” that meets together is little different than a social club run by Women, so it destroys everything it touches. Making the process of building relationships within a Church into a Losing Proposition is what has eaten apart most of them.

Word, brother. For all the reasons you cite and others, churches are mostly devoid of any real fellowship. Even in small churches the odds of any given “member” of the body knowing anything more about any other member than his or her name are tiny, even after years of attending the same congregation together. My experience has been that it’s actually easier to get to know your neighbors in an urban neighborhood than it is to get to know those who are supposedly your “brothers in Christ” who attend church with you (and as we all know, getting to know your neighbors in today’s transitory society is a Herculean effort). If the churches were influencing the culture and not the other way around, this would not even be an issue at all. A sad, sickening state of affairs.

  70. Red Pill Latecomer says:

The old WASP ruling class of 50+ years ago at least had some ethnic ties to common Americans, plus they were Christian. Although imperfect, they still felt a tug of patriotic loyalty to the nation, a tug of paternalistic charity toward its people.

The new ruling class is not Christian, and has no tribal affection toward common Americans. Today’s elite demonstrate far more concern for the well-being of Israel than for that of common Americans. Media conservatives heap contempt on American welfare recipients and European socialists, while pushing to subsidize Israel’s socialist welfare state (which they never identify as a socialist welfare state).

The entertainment media portrays both “rednecks” and “bluebloods” — and Catholic clergy, and Evangelical ministers — as ugly caricatures and villains. It would be regarded as hate speech if Jews and rabbis were portrayed in a similar way.

The highly destructive, and expensive, Iraq War was largely (even if not exclusively) for Israel’s benefit. Talking points included: Saddam was building a nuke that would threaten Israel; and Saddam was giving $25,000 to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers. Those embarrassing talking points (particularly the latter) have since gone done the Memory Hole.

America’s meddling in Mideast wars (often for Israel’s benefit) has broken several hornet’s nests, with Muslim refugees spilling into Europe and the U.S., threatening what’s left of European Christian dominance of those lands.

Good post and lots of good comments – far better than what you normally see in response to a post where the words “Clinton” and “Trump” are mentioned.

I grew up in an almost all white small town in the Midwest that had a fair amount of dysfunction, although there was a degree of cohesiveness which kept the dysfunction from being worse than what it was.

But later, I worked at a social services agency in the city where I had a closer look at the type of dysfunction described by Vance and Williamson. It wasn’t just that people were gaming the system…they were doing it with absolutely no shame. And, contrary to stereotypes, it was mostly white folks doing it.

Sure, there were external obstacles like transportation and childcare that made it hard for them to get to the next rung on the economic scale. The GOP is in the fix they’re in now because they flat do not understand that lower income people have some genuine obstacles to overcome. But a lot of these people just could not figure out that when you have no money, you have little margin for error and perhaps you should make some different choices than what you’re making.

The teenage son is acting out? Hmmm Mom…do you suppose moving every few months to go live with the asshole, er, I mean boyfriend of the quarter has something to do with your son’s troubles? You’re broke? Interesting…you always seem to find the money for beer and cigarettes.

Something was off when it came to figuring out cause and effect and as a result, so many of these people would just endlessly veer from one crisis to the next, with some crises being no fault of their own, while others were entirely self inflicted.

When you don’t have a community that looks after each other in times of trouble, there is no point to working at all. Nothing goes smoothly forever. Not even the best laid UC and UMC plans. We are not just individuals who can pick up and go half way around the world every two years tracking the booms and leaving the busts. Life doesn’t work that way for 95% of people on this globe.

I’ve always firmly believed in Ethnic Nationalities having the right to rule themselves free from others; and believe that you sort out your own group problems first, most groups would be taken care of. You have just described poor blacks. It is not about race. It is about the elites splitting people into controllable groups and the “groups” blaming each other for what the elites are doing. Up until black lives matter it was “white” preppers and such that saw police as a threat and wanted to kill cops. After the last spat of shootings the the racial lines have been strengthened. The poor blacks and whites have more in common now than ever.
A huge fix for all of this is a civilized policy of respect for the beta family man. Legal, cultural, and religious respect for the man that commits and marries for the benefit of his family repairs and restores order to a dying society and nation. Dalrock has written article after article on the effects of that lack of respect on the church and the society in general. The foolish work arounds that have come from some very thoughtful people here and else where have been tremendous. From game, christian woman, foreign bride, young virgin, MGTOW, etc. The work arounds are now starting to focus on the root cause.
The elites are not having it and this election has finally began to bring it to a head because the PC speech code is being broken. The on liine manosphere that allowed men to speak freely and develop the red pill into speaking terms. This has been spread to the population with numerous blogs, youtube, and comments on various articles through out. The elephant in the room is being seen and now spoken about. can be seen. More and more are starting to see this is going to mean http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/08/11/trump-fuels-media-furor-again-with-second-amendment-comments-on-clinton.html
This is where it is at because you can bet your ass the elites are there. (the topic of this article from Dalrock) When the light is on the elephant in the room and ignorance is removed it may not come to war who knows. Ignorance is not bliss and the truth is always a better path than finding some work around to make a lie work. I have faith in God being pleased by men living and fighting in truth (some call it red pill). .

I’m sorry to read about your terrible experience (experiences?). If anyone should help a brother out, it’s our siblings in Christ. Being unemployed is nerve wracking, especially when people depend on you. Have you considered looking for a different church? I don’t mean to be glib when I ask. After all, Christ said love for our bretheren is the defining characteristic of His followers.

John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

I’m not so sure about a church that wouldn’t help a brother when he gets knocked down.

  80. Höllenhund says:

It’s a story that’s been told a thousand times over, from the aborigines of Australia to the highland Scots.

You belong to a people, with a territory, and a way of life that’s suited you and your people for generations. Then along comes some other people with way better technology, including military technology. Suddenly the way of life your people cherished for all those generations, without even really thinking about it — it was the way of life — suddenly it’s pointless. The gods have fled; you have no protection.

A few of your people, the smartest ones, will cross over to live among the new people, as they live. Far more of you won’t or can’t do that. For these, there is no good solution — nothing to do but yield to drink, despair, suicide.

And there we are with Kevin Williamson and the white underclass — not, I repeat, a synonym for Trump voters.

And here we are also with Charles Murray, who wrote about the problems of the white underclass in his 2012 book Coming Apart.

And yes, with Mark Carey too; for one of the responses to these recurring civilizational tragedies is for the conquerors to romanticize the conquered. The 18th century’s Noble Savage; Sir Walter Scott’s fearless highland warrior; the Indian brave of a thousand Hollywood B features; Gaugin’s Polynesian maidens; even Australian Aborigines have had the treatment. Mark Carey’s postmodernist blather about, quote, “other ways of knowing,” and, quote, “folk glaciologies,” and such, are in a venerable tradition.

The white underclass are the aborigines of the postindustrial age. It’s absurd for Kevin Williamson to tell them to get a U-Haul and move out of their dying communities. They’ll just be underclass whites somewhere else, with lives just as empty. There is no solution for them, any more than there is for Eskimos or aborigines, other than the one they’ve found in drink, drugs, and despair. The smart, capable, and energetic ones will escape and get lives, as always happens; the rest will sink into squalor.

    @Novaseeker

Probably the most important buffer is the accumulated wealth of their parents. A drug/alcohol problem, a smaller legal problem or something like that is unlikely to have a long-term negative impact on your future prospects when you have a trust fund.

  82. Bee says:

    @greyghost,

“You have just described poor blacks. It is not about race.”

It is not about race. It is about matriarchal social structure. The matriarchy drags any tribe that embraces it down. Most North American Indian tribes were matriarchal. Many west African tribes were and still are matriarchal.

Your comment about the lack of respect for the beta husband is a key point.

  83. Höllenhund says:

This marriage model is nothing to write home about even for UMC types. It’s more feasible economically for them, and marginally less apt to produce bad outcomes both because UMC types are on average more intelligent (no point in closing eyes to this point) and have more robust social capital (which exists owing to previous two points). But it consumes UMC social capital too. It will just take longer for similar-sized effects to appear.

This model is largely doomed anyway. We’ve extensively discussed the lopsided sex ratio that’s emblematic of Western higher education. So far it has not yet affected the upper classes to a noticeable degree, but this is bound to change in the next 10-20 years. Novaseeker has also commented on this. A growing minority of upper-class young women will be unable to find hypergamously satisfying husbands. These “consumption marriages” only work if there’s an equal number of male and female marriage candidates in the upper class.

  84. Höllenhund says:

It’s somewhat off-topic to ask this, but does this Kevin Williamson shitbag actually belong to the upper class or upper middle class? According to his Wikipedia page, he’s teaching at some second-rate college, has written a bunch of books that probably failed to make a profit, and he works for a shitty online newspaper which admittedly wouldn’t even stay afloat without corporate donations i.e. they are pretty much a propaganda rag. I’m pretty sure most people involved in this sort of nasty stuff aren’t living the comfy middle class suburban lifestyle.

  85. Höllenhund says:

    @Original Laura

The most important factor is the double income family model. Relocating makes sense when the husband is the sole breadwinner, moving from a somewhat cushy job to a cushier job. It’s pretty much impossible when both parents are working mediocre jobs. If they want to move, they both need to find new jobs in the town they want to move to. That’s not realistic.

  86. Höllenhund says:

Like it or not, if you scare away women, minorities

A man like Trump was needed even when politicians spoke of God to get elected. Look where we are today. A .patriarchal atheist would have been a better bet for the church. Bring on the sexist asshole.

A growing minority of upper-class young women will be unable to find hypergamously satisfying husbands.

Already happening to some extent. That’s what some of the Atlantic articles are about with the “Peter Pan Manboys Who Won’t Man UP And Marry My Sexy MBA Degree!” rants. It is ironic that these women all too often are occupying the job they would want a theoretical husband to have, and cannot see how that affects the larger picture.

Rational solutions exist, but frankly I’m thinking Rollo is correct when he points to open hypergamy of the “AF-BB” mutating to “AF-Beta Cucks” type. Marriage increasingly is going to be either (a) a luxury only the UMC and MC can afford (b) a curious, rather archaic practice that is associated with religious groups. So “rich” or “Amish”, take your pick.

With regard to Kevin Williamson – a lot of the meaningful work in flyover country has gone away. Oil is always cyclical, and consolidation in farm country has had an effect, but other forms of labor have been affected by macro policy. Lumber and the various owls. Meat packing plants that prefer illegal labor for cost and consent issues (illegals don’t report safety violations. They also don’t worry about child labor laws. For a start) and therefore don’t hire US citizens anymore. Extractive industries that are being ground down – it is probably cheaper even now to open a pit copper mine in Chile than in, say, Arizona. And pace’ Williamson, it’s no better in the cities. Moving from Appalachia to the Acela corridor with a high school diploma is not really a winning plan.

It is not a coincidence that death rates in flyover country due to drug OD’s are up. That’s what despair does to people.

A Christ and Patriarchy America automatically would be strong, as the U.S was in the Fifties, when it had a partial C and P culture. But heck, we can’t even get our rulers to SAY ‘patriarchy’. Much less implement it. Or to acknowledge that the West currently is the opposite of patriarchy. They’re too fat, and so are The People.

What, I wonder, would be the actual percentage of Americans desiring a C and P nation? Five or ten percent? Mebbe even that’s naive. Anyway, the Almighty People don’t want it, and the elites (and the spiritual powers) assuredly don’t want it.

Eventually the world is gonna get C and P, however, and if America isn’t on board, it’ll be just a wasteland, and a curse in the mouth of the future. You folks that want C and P now, and strive for it now, will administer it then, under the King.

So far it has not yet affected the upper classes to a noticeable degree, but this is bound to change in the next 10-20 years. Novaseeker has also commented on this.

Of course. This is one of the worst costs of affirmative action.

See the black community. Any functionally literate black woman can get affirmative action to get a degree from a good school, and then get a government job with a fancy title. While she only has the talent to earn $30K in the free market, she has a govt. make-work job that pays $160K. Hence, she really believes that she is overqualified to marry a black man of the same percentile, while outside of the government thumb on the scale in her favor, she actually is not. This leads to exceptionally low marriage rates for ‘educated’ black women that got too much from AA.

This will spread out towards whites as well. *We* know that a woman with a Harvard or Yale degree in a fluff field is not smart. But she will keep turning down men that she should not be turning down.

But this phenomenon will be simultaneous with a steep decline in the respect/status of universities, since universities will be seen as largely phony credential mills for most of the students going there (especially the fluff departments with a lot of AA students).

  111. Gunner Q says:

“A Christ and Patriarchy America automatically would be strong”

Yes but patriarchy without Christ is the Roman Empire. That’s what I fear Trump will lead to.

“What, I wonder, would be the actual percentage of Americans desiring a C and P nation? Five or ten percent?”

I bet at least half of men want it. There’s no substitute for the (theoretical) benefits of monogamy and as irritating as unbelievers often find Christian morality, brief exposure to alternatives usually makes them content to respect it. The number of men insisting on the old set of books is better evidence than any official poll.

Except so many of them have been burned by the amazingly corrupt Church. I wouldn’t fault them for wanting patriarchy without Christianity because of the Churchians.

Maybe that’s why I want an overtly Christian politician to break the tide of feminism instead of Trump. I want those burned guys to see that Christ is not their enemy.

I would imagine that if loudmouthed dikes started pairing up in serious numbers, whether or not they married, the DV rate for that demographic would go through the roof and that DV incidents would involve levels of violence that would require SWAT team interventions (I recall reading somewhere several years ago that a preliminary set of studies revealed that gay couples had significantly higher rates of DV than heterosexual couples, although I don’t recall if those studies filtered by sex).

A married man that fathers a child as a married man will never have his child taken from him period. I despised him before this election run, but he is certainly doing most of the right things now, far better than his unidicted criminal opponent. Selling favors for Clinton Foundation donors is far worse than anything Trump will ever do. Running an insecure email server so she could hide her actions from all but malicious parties is another thing that should have her wearing an orange jumpsuit for the rest of her life.

4-8 more years of Obama’s policies and Supreme Court decisions that push favor the connected over the common people is not the way to go. But vote for her if you want.

I would encourage those who are paranoid of Trump to listen to some of his speeches, not just the news reports of the same.

I thought his 2nd Amendment comment was great, though it seems he is either backing from it or not realizing what he said. I know quite a few folks here in Texas that will not blindly give over their firearms.

Even a nephew who is likely liberal otherwise (in Seattle) told me a few days ago that gun rights are something he and many of his friends hold as quite important.

We live in interesting times, though the quote “Whom the gods would destroy, they first make crazy” seems very applicable as well.

Something will hit the fan, whether Trump wins or not. I side with the idea that people will like the Trump alternative even less if he is scammed out of the election, which is quite possible given electronic (and non-electronic) voter fraud being so easy.

IOW, it’s easy for police to know who is the victim in a hetero DV call — the woman is assumed to be the victim. So the police can easily arrest the man. But cops don’t have it so easy on a lesbian DV call.

My employer literally gets blood out of a stone; productivity is extremely high. The problem is the cost of living, with the main culprit being housing costs, whether rent or mortgage. Cost of living across the board is astronomical, no matter how frugal you are. I have identified the root of the problem to be the influx of wealthy immigrants. He is also a product of the times. Romney is the best example of someone who played nice and it got him the WWE status here more than anything Trump has done.

The interesting thing will be how much of the vein of opinion he has tapped votes for him in the fall. It doesn’t even matter if he was setup as a stooge. People still could vote for him more than TPTB expect and that could through things off.

Note that nothing is said of his opponent in all of this, something that would not be true of the very limited amount of WWE I have seen. That makes me very dubious of claims he is just a stooge.

We are almost certainly doomed as a country either way, as too much rot has infested the system, but I would rather attempt to do something than to sit back moaning. None of the other candidates would really stand up to this kind of heat and ANY Republican would have gotten the same heat.

I thought this in the beginning, mainly due to the fact that he was not a Republican until late 2011 or so. I temporarily doubted this as he started to do well and seemed to really want to win. But now, this seems to be the most likely explanation.

I mean, if your goal was to a) split the GOP vote yet b) have no chance of winning 50%+ of the popular vote (270 EVs), his statements are exactly what one would say.

Don’t forget that the 25+ years of close friendship between Donald Trump and Vince McMahon could certainly spark the idea of using these tactics in a real election in Donald Trump’s mind.

  142. TheLastCoyote says:

One does have to wonder whether Trump really wants to be president. He’s been in the public eye for 3 decades. I’m not buying that he suddenly doesn’t know what you can and can’t get away with saying.

Has the media misrepresented and overblown stuff Trump has said and done? Absolutely. Does the media conveniently ignore what a nut case Hillary is? Of course, and they are conveniently ignoring the possibility that Hillary has serious health problems rendering her unfit to serve. But any candidate, including Trump, should have known full and well the media would be in full throttle attack mode against whoever was the Republican candidate. I mean come on, the media didn’t say to themselves back in the fall, “Okay, well we’ve had 8 years of Obama, maybe we should bring it down a few notches and see if there’s a Republican in this bunch of 16 or 17 we can tolerate.” Uh, no, the media has one goal and one goal only – a Democrat victory.

There is one possibility I’ll allow for with Trump, though. Trump has a temperament similar to that of my father-in-law. He is really one heck of a guy in many respects, maybe even the vast majority of respects. But he has a temper and gets a chip on his shoulder that really get in the way of his good qualities, and can have a hard time containing it even when there’s an audience that includes non immediate family members. He doesn’t seem to know when to shut it off. When some people get that adrenaline rush going, they just can’t contain themselves (Bobby Knight is another person like this who comes to mind). And make no mistake, adrenaline is very intoxicating.

Trump is the same way, except worse because he’s filthy rich and isn’t accustomed to hearing words like “no” and “I’m not putting up with your shit.” He’s also accustomed to steamrolling whoever gets in his way, whether it’s an incompetent employee or a competitor. In short, possibility #2 is he fully understands how the media works but just simply can’t contain himself anyway.

I hear that thrown around all the time, but the ones I have heard are quite true. Even the one about the Second Amendment. The fake Constitution supporter who wants Shariah law deserved all the scorn he got.

Much of Trump’s “crazy talk” is what people believe.

Whether you’re a PC type of guy or not, you just don’t go after the parents of a dead soldier, even though the parents got on that stage willingly and had their own issues as far as the father being a sleazy immigration lawyer.

The DNC threw the bait out there and Trump swallowed it hook, line, and sinker. Instead, he should have put the focus where it belonged – on Hillary and on her caring about U.S. soldiers only when it’s politically convenient for her, as we all know good and well she could care less about the troops otherwise.

  147. The Question says:

Back in January I wrote about the possibility of civil war within the context of this upcoming presidential election.

    https://anarchistnotebook.com/2016/01/27/civil-war/

“My speculation is this: That a close presidential election will be followed by the refusal from the losing candidate to accept the results. They might blame the loss on fraud or treachery or whatnot. But they will not accept the winner as legitimate. And they will force the issue. When the crisis occurs, the “either you are with us or with them” mentality will grip the whole country, and the factions will fall under their respective banners. This is what happened in Spain during their civil war in the 1930s, and it can happen again.”

Trump is now complaining the election is already rigged against him. God forbid Wikileaks releases emails weeks before showing just that. And now Mike Cernovich is reporting on Hilary’s poor health; what happens if she dies or is rendered incapable of functioning just before the election? Gary Johnson is polling well despite being as libertarian as W. was a limited government conservative; he could steal enough votes from a candidate to tip the scales in the other’s favor.

Any or all of these things could lead to a disputed election where the winner is considered illegitimate due to these external factors. Rather than find a mutually agreeable means of resolving the matter, both sides decide to go all in on their bets.

Yep. Same goes for the Mexican judge. Same goes for (correctly) having no women on his economic team, and then adding 8 tokens under duress.

These are the actions of a man who wants to thread the needle and get 44-46% of the popular vote and 150-180 EVs (creating the illusion of real resistance and concealing the real deal). These are not the actions of a candidate who wants to be President.

Remember that his media savvy was very *high* during the more difficult of his two tasks, which was to win the GOP primary. He was doing far more correctly then, as the situation required it.

  150. @greyghost,

I think ‘Economic collapse’ is an inevitably for the United States to be honest. That storm began decades ago when this country decided to embrace bipartisan ‘Nihilism’ which has been the real economic and social policy of this country since the 1960’s.

Our entire economic system is predicated on perpetual consumer growth. There won’t be perpetual consumer growth because our demographics are simply terrible due to low fertility. It is a difficult challenge normally to overcome the cost/benefit ratio that advanced societies face in sustaining a fertility of 2.1 children per woman.

Our society decides to decrease the fertility even more by decreasing male university enrollments, lack of national planning, feminism, elimination of breadwinner jobs, and hostile legal/social policy towards fathers. The ‘nail in the coffin’ will be importing hordes of violent third-world Islamic savages to completely destabilize society.

As our populace ages, economic growth and productivity will halt as our currency becomes nearly worthless due to adding trillions to the national debt to sustain existing spending. Technical innovation will actually decrease as you shrink the talent pool. Our economic system is dependent on ‘growth’ but our reproduction policies are geared towards ‘reduction’.

The whole house of cards will come down eventually.

I don’t want to say there is ‘absolutely no hope’ but demography changes at a minimum take 25 years to take affect. I just don’t see meaningful change happening in our current society, culture, and government.

“Except so many of them have been burned by the amazingly corrupt Church. I wouldn’t fault them for wanting patriarchy without Christianity because of the Churchians.”

Agree, false followers of Jeshua sold out even the name Christianity. I certainly don’t myself ‘Christian’ so I guess they’ve done a thorough job! This site and a few others are beginning the asskicking I mean cleansing process of the Church, and Christ will finish it. Meantime, effort.

“Maybe that’s why I want an overtly Christian politician to break the tide of feminism instead of Trump. I want those burned guys to see that Christ is not their enemy.”

Well, that’s what you’re doing. Helping them see it. Politicians aren’t gonna do that. Anyway the type of Christian politician you’d want is not possible in current America. Expecting Trump to de-com the Feminist Empire is, I think, unrealistic. At least. Global spiritual powers drive feminism, as original rebellion. A trump is only an instrument, an annunciate. Not the expected thing.

    i) He caves to criticism from feminists and manginas
ii) He is not serious about economic policy (there is almost no subject where male and female aptitude have a larger gap than economics. Even engineering is not this far apart).

Actually, this proves nothing. If I were Trump I would do the same. Maybe ealier. Until you have the power firmly within your grasp, you don’t insult the king.
I have been concerned that Trump has not been acting smart. The president is not elected by either Republicans or Democrats; he is elected by the Independents. Either party elects a nominee; the Independents put the nominee in office.
Trump has already won the Nominee election. Republicans, by and large, have no other other choice but to support him. But he is still acting as if he is in the Primaries. His focus right now, is to win the Independents, something he is doing a poor job of.
Personally, I am beginning to think that the man is probably a Clinton implant. He is not interested in the presidency. He just want a business deal—maybe for his kids.

Trump is now complaining the election is already rigged against him. God forbid Wikileaks releases emails weeks before showing just that.

Paper voting is prone enough to fraud, but electronic voting is even worse. I didn’t follow it in the past, but heard recently that some districts in MA had 0 votes for Romney the last time around. He clearly had no chance, but 0 votes is very fishy.

No way to validate cheating with a bit flip.

More people do need to realize the system is very rigged. And that will be a good outcome whoever wins.

As to Trump being a Caesar: Grow up. I remember the rumors that Clinton I would invent a reason to stay in office and some are claiming the same for .Obama. Highly unlikely. The only thing that could spin it was for Hillary to die in strange circumstances before being inaugurated. I wouldn’t put that past TPTB to keep Obama in for a while, but transforming the system that much would release far more forces than most realize.

  162. BillyS says:

I missed some /blockquote commands there, but hopefully the point is clear.

  163. Looking Glass says:

Trump hasn’t done anything different since the early parts of the campaign. The media just finally found a few points to lie about hard enough to attack Trump. The Media haven’t been able to handle Trump like they normally do non-Liberals, but they found a few parts that stuck. Mostly because they could leave out details and smear him. (Racist & Biased Judge + possible terrorist Lawyer hiding behind a dead child aren’t something they’re going to actually say.) It’s simply the first parts to actually kind of stick, but they’ll be forgotten in a few weeks.

As for “why would Trump run?”, I’m still pretty sad that people can’t figure this one out. It’s really not hard and he’s not running as a False-Flag. The guy has been around Power Politics for decades, he knows the game.

But he’s not running to be President to put Clinton in.

Some months ago some friends visited the LA area and went to the Getty Museum. One of the world’s largest & best art collections. I’ve heard it called “The Getty” before in a number of places. Interesting name, that. “Getty”. Because it’s named for this man: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._Paul_Getty

One of the richest Men in history is reduced to the building named after him, “The Getty”. So what’s the only thing Trump can do that would set his name in history? Why, do what old Joseph Kennedy pulled off: get someone in the family in as President.

The Clintons clearly called Trump to see if he’s run as a 3rd Party Spoiler, specifically to get a repeat of what happened with Ross Perot. (Who would have been President if he had actually wanted to be. He flinched and threw the race to Clinton.) Trump read the situation and realize he could win. Will he? Not assured, but with all of the major players well into massive Net Short positions on Equities and Metals rapidly rising, we’re looking at another crash real soon. If that happens this year, the GOP could have won with Jeb!. (Think about how scary that thought is.)

Another thing people have missed is that Trump clearly has Deep State ties (a lot of them), and there’s something of a brewing civil war among that set. Most of the “crazy things Trump says!” that quickly turn out to be true comes from sources with deep understanding of situations that are niche & complex. (Yes, Obama is responsible for ISIS’s formation. We were funneling guns & money to groups to topple Assad in Syria and some of those broke off into being ISIS. The former Ba’ath groups, mostly, so you can blame the Bush Clan as well.)

Trumps one major issue is that he thinks there are no “sacred cows”, and that can catch him off guard at times. While he has little issue trampling over such territory, that doesn’t mean everyone else is quite ready to get there. But he’s shifted the Overton Window so far on so many issues, it’s hard to say what comes next. Though the Optics of the Debates are going to be the big thing. Mostly as you’re going to have one of the worst retail politicians in American History up against The Donald. That’s going to be must-see TV.

Trump is still part of the Elite, but it’s always a fool’s errand to think they’re monolithic in their operation. They spend most of the time fighting each other, though everyone else ends up paying for the fighting. What’s happening this time is that the Battle Lines just look very different than they have in the post-WW2 era. Which makes sense, as the Elites have radically changed the country, so the “social consensus” would change as well. Lord help us all.

  164. They Call Me Tom says:

I’m in California…I always vote, but I realize 999 times out of 1000, the state goes to the Democrats, the public employees obey their unions, the social services junkies obey their dealer… and those two groups combined are already greater than 50% of the voters, with a vested interest in turning out to vote for the unfunded gravy to keep coming.

So I’ve come to realize, the vote doesn’t matter much in California. Protest votes are as harmless as voting anything other than Hillary the C. You have to turn out to show that Hillary isn’t getting as many votes as one of Saddam’s rigged elections… but the outcome will really be determined in other states. Given a choice of the two, anyone with a brain cell would take Trump. but that said, his campaign is reminiscent of Andrew Jackson… and Jackson’s presidency had some terribly foolish episodes in it. Jackson did the job of overturning the apple cart, but his ego seemingly called all the shots once he was in office, rather than his past experiences and judgement. It was no doubt better than what Hillary would do, or what Quincy Adams would’ve done, but a far cry from the average quality the country had previously gotten in its leaders.

  166. Growing up in deep ‘Upstate New York’ as a boy / teenager / young man and then fast forward to today living in the heartland of California……let me say this.

I saw the Upstate-New York cities of Utica, Schenectady, Gloversville, Johnstown, Troy, Buffalo shutter-up and close one fine late-1970’s-day…….add the smaller towns along the Mohawk Valley as well. Including Amsterdam, Canojoharie, St. Johnsville, Fort Plain, Rome………and others. Albany suffered too, despite the fact of the massive state-employee sector that works there.

Many in my family (on both sides) from the end of the Great Depression til the end of the 1970’s proudly worked for General Electric in Schenectady which at one time employed over 50,000 people by the mid 1970’s. My grandfather mentioned to me off-hand once that “It was the attitude of the people in the end who worked there that ruined Schenectady operations for General Electric….an attitude shift that problematic across the USA”

He said in the foundry where he worked “I would correct a younger tradesman, and he would file a complaint with the Union that I was ‘bullying’ him. I would then be reprimanded. People would do shoddy work, and have a carefree attitude about it. I would do work, and then be corrected by the Union that I could only do certain tasks……….the local politicians also used General Electric as their personal bank to close gaps on their own city budget……there was plain greed as well….but what business wants to pay a line worker 17.50 an hour plus full benefits (1977) for work that has a terrible failure analysis rate….while the sister division in Japan has a has a failure rate of .01%? We can blame Unions, and corporate greed, but the real blame lies with the rank and file workers. They all thought they were owed something.”

New York State represent the earliest example of the extreme conditions that sowed the seeds of America’s socio-economic destruction: the toxic combination of corporate greed and labor union excesses (these two monsters feed off of each other in a symbiotic relationship), the burgeoning welfare state, confiscatory taxation of both businesses and individuals (the plunder of which disappeared into corruption sinkholes), and, as you note, the general attitude of entitlement.

My own limited experience with African priests assured me that this would be an exceptional service, as they tend to be unashamedly conservative and not given to any of the pozzed out faggotry that I’d be listening to in an Episcopal or evangelical church.

WOW! Was I ever wrong. The story we all contemplated included the protagonist, some prophet in ancient Israel, being thrown into a cistern (for speaking truth to power). After Israel was conquered, the invading general had the prophet rescued.

This story, which ought to have illustrated important moral and ethical lessons, was a springboard for this feminist priest to lecture all the men in the congregation about (I shit you not) domestic violence. Wives, who are constantly being beaten, are actually prophets, and it is for all of us to help out these eternally tortured victims.

While I wouldn’t call it “elite” per se, lifelong marriage (with a focus on higher education for the kids) really is a solidly middle-middle class to upper-middle class thing. These backward people (and yes I can personally vouch for their backwardness) are stuck in a rut because of lack of ambition and lack of any value for higher education. 181. Otto Lamp says:

Daily Llama says: …it all probably comes down to low IQ. But IQs can be raised.

    Ummmm…no, IQ cannot be raised.

IQ is supposed to measure a person’s genetic cognitive ability. The ability a person naturally has to process information.

Would you tell a child with two sub five foot tall parents that he can grow to be six foot tall, if he only works hard enough? No, because no matter how hard he works he doesn’t have the genetic ability to be that tall.

Any fluctuation in a person’s IQ has more to do with our poor ability to measure actual IQ than any real increase. Education doesn’t increase a person’s IQ. It helps them reach their potential functional IQ, but that doesn’t change the fact that everyone has a max IQ level, and no amount of education or hard work will allow them to pass it.

When I hear people talk about education being the solution, I think “so your plan is to make everybody above average?” Yea sure, that’s realistic.

On average, Americans are average, and nothing will change that. We’ve created a society where a person of average intelligence, education, and skills has a hard time making ends meet. Unfortunately, that describes a majority of Americans.

Our society can’t survive if a majority of its members have little hope of achieving a stable life. Something will have to give. We’re going to have to make some hard decisions about how we want our society organized. Do we want:

    1) To accept higher prices on manufactured goods, food, etc… to ensure that the majority of average Americans have productive jobs and lives

    2) Ensure lower prices on manufactured goods, food, etc… and use higher taxes and government subsidies to keep the majority of average Americans afloat

Both are “spread the wealth” schemes. The difference is how you spread the wealth. Number 2 is clearly the way we’ve been headed. Unfortunately, it also kills the spirit of men. Number 1 at least allows men to develop and retain some pride, because they are working and producing.

Good post. You are correct. Something has to give.

The following is for you and Dalrock. Dalrock may want to use it in some way for his next post. I believe that he will. The following is the best speech I have heard in my life.

Fast forward to the 25 minute mark if you don’t have the patience for the whole 47 minutes. Dr. Will is talking about inequality, primary, and secondary education in this country (and how deplorable that education is) and WHAT the problem IS in education. And I quote….

We know what the problem is. Almost 50 years ago, March, 1965, a man who became my best friend Pat Moynihan, then a young social scientist in Lyndon Johnson’s department of labor, published a report on the crisis in the Negro family. He said it’s crisis because 23.6% of African-Americans are born out of wedlock. Today, the figure for all Americans, all races and ethnicities is 34%, one-in-three American children born out of wedlock. 72% of African-American children, 54% of Hispanic-American children, we know what this means. This means a constantly renewed cohort of somewhat, tenuously parented adolescent males among other things. And we know what that means, disorderly cities, schools that can’t teach. No one wants to talk about this because we don’t know what caused it. And we don’t know how to cure it. But these are some of the problems that drive inequality.

This is the best speech I ever heard, but I know what caused it. Feminism. There simply is no reason for men to marry, they have stopped asking, and even if they did ask, the women are financially incentivized NOT to marry them. Life of Julia Otto. No WAY will feminism allow us to “cure it” as George Will so aptly put. So, as long as feminism exists and as long as that drives our laws and legislation…. there really is…. no hope.

  184. Daily Llama says:

“Would you tell a child with two sub five foot tall parents that he can grow to be six foot tall, if he only works hard enough? No, because no matter how hard he works he doesn’t have the genetic ability to be that tall.”

So? That has nothing to do with the brain.

” Education doesn’t increase a person’s IQ. It helps them reach their potential functional IQ, but that doesn’t change the fact that everyone has a max IQ level, and no amount of education or hard work will allow them to pass it.”

So basically you agree with me that IQ does in fact fluctuate. Calling it “potential IQ” or “max IQ does not change the fact that it changed. The brain is extremely malleable and it wires and rewires all the time. If you want to see your IQ “potentialized” or “maxed out” then do things that rewire the brain and make new neuron connections, its not that hard. Also, epigenetics.

“the women are financially incentivized NOT to marry them.”

Actually its women with the most finances who ARE getting married. Upper middle class, university educated, professionally employed women are the most likely to marry and to stay married in the US.

“Father “restored”? First you have to find him! LOL.”

“He found me. And assuming you can find some humility, one day He might find you too. ”

Not sure how to take this? My dad and I already knew each other. Unless you’re talking about God the father in which case I don’t now why since its clear the poster who wrote “Father restored as absolute family (and civil) authority. ” was talking about earthly dads.

What’s the point of having meth addicts, lazy bums, criminals, bi-polars, manics, crazy people and HIV risk takers “restored as absolute family (or any type of) authority”? A lot of these deadbeat baby daddies have MAJOR issues. Forcing them (against their will in most cases) to return to their baby mamas and kids isn’t going to help anyone. Telling them “you’re in charge now” isn’t going to change their drug habits or make them sane. It might increase their crimes because they’ll have to rob and steal even more now.

Even in the solidly middle class putting a mad man in charge is dangerous. A person close to me has a husband who has major anger issues stemming from his abandonment by both his parents as a teenager. He refuses to get help. The wife and 2 kids fear him and have grown to hate him. It’s become so bad in the last 6 months that finally they all gave him an ultimatum: get help or leave. Its been 2 weeks since given this ultimatum and he’s done neither. He’s living life as if nothing happened and isn’t speaking to anyone. Unfortunately I doubt he’ll keep his trap shut forever and so they are all just timidly waiting for the time he blows up again. The kids school work is suffering because they are under so much stress (and they are self harming). The wife is suffering too but she still has to go to work. This man is an asshole and in no condition to be any type of “authority”. If he gets help and gets cured, maybe. But he’s not even willing to seek help.

  185. Daily Llama says:

And I might add, her kids are begging her to divorce him and have been upset with her for years for “being weak and not protecting us”. She says she stayed with him all these years because of her “marriage and family values” and “no matter how scared he made us, he never did really beat us”. Of course she’s regretting now that she didn’t divorce him when the kids were babies because growing up in such an environment has really messed them up as teens. I’ve seen anger management, mindfulness and psychotherapy (all 3 or each separately) help a lot of people myself. But this dude is not willing to try any of it. He doesn’t WANT to be cured. There’s nothing anyone can do when someone doesn’t want help.

Did you notice the ad smack dab in the middle of the page with the distressed young woman and the copy reading “Nobody ever told me sex wasn’t love!” (er, what? whoever claimed sex and love are the same thing in the first place?). Then, “Tired of being hurt by hook ups?” and a link to that lady’s page “The Ruth Institute”. Let’s assume the link takes us to articles urging college women to stop hooking up and find a “nice guy” to settle down with.

“On single parenthood: “There’s no such thing as a single parent. They’ve become dependent on other people in commercial transactions, such as their employers and child-care providers. A single mother may look like she’s doing so much ‘on her own,’ but she has merely commercialized the things the father would have done.”

Not quite getting this. Married parents also have employers and also use child-care providers. Married people also don’t do “so much on their own”. We are all interdependent and symbiotic.

She also says women in their 30s are “fertility experiments”. If that’s the case something is wrong. All the women in my family going back generations gave birth into their 40s (and a few in their 50s). If women are undergoing menopause in their 30s that is way premature and something is off.

  187. The Question says:

The heart of the discussion at hand is the degree to which circumstances affect people’s ability to prosper, how much of it is life choices, and how much the remaining part of it is intelligence.

Liberals and conservatives tend to be all-or-nothing. Liberals believe circumstances are the whole thing (at least when it involves their preferred groups), whereas conservatives think anything bad that happens is the result of poor life choices and that anybody can do anything if they put their mind to it.

The truth is, it’s more complicated than anyone wants to admit.

    From the great Fred Reed:

    http://fredoneverything.org/brains-if-any-and-who-has-them/

“Consider. Chuck Gauss, usually regarded as one of the world’s three greatest mathematicians, was born to a poor family of peasant stock in Germany. So were tens of thousands of other boys, all of whom, on the environmental theory, should have been among the world’s three greatest mathematicians. You see the problem. Newton, another of the three, was born into a family of small farmers. (The farms were small, not the farmers.) So was half of England. No method of fluxions from the rest.”

    http://fredoneverything.org/commentators-disease/

“The tendency of the Beltway 99th to live in an imaginary world, of conservatives to think that everybody can be a Horatio Alger, of liberals to believe that inequality arises from discrimination, guarantees wretched policy. Those who can do almost anything need to recognize the existence of those who can do almost nothing. Few of the latter are parasites. The waitress has worked all her life, as has the truck driver. They ended up with nothing.”

The reality is that were it not for many forms of state (government) coercion and aggression, too great to list off here, many of the bad cultural behaviors that exist would disappear.

It always bewilders me that people are shocked to see that we get more of what we subsidize through government.

Men like Williamson never bother to check if the problems in these communities are created by the very government policies he and other NR elitist snobs promote, the same way churchians write “lost boy” articles while enforcing the decrees of the FI in the church.

Why is simple living so anethema to so many people?

  190. Feminist Hater says:

    The Question.

That was a very on point description of the problem between the left and right. There is no need for them to dig deeper. Both find solace in their being right and everyone else being wrong and the government policies that are derived because of this are so destructive, yet only end up bringing more of these damned policies to the forefront because nobody can admit when they’re wrong, most especially those of the elite classes.

Men like Williamson never bother to check if the problems in these communities are created by the very government policies he and other NR elitist snobs promote, the same way churchians write “lost boy” articles while enforcing the decrees of the FI in the church.

This boils down to independence. If a society chooses a small government and then chooses to maximize the independence of its people, its social ills will be relatively contained. The social welfare should come through the voluntary actions and givings of the community, not through the forced coercing of government. That keeps the welfare small and directed to those that need it most without allowing huge portions of the population to live off of such welfare.

So giving fathers authority is bad, because they might misuse it? That attitude is at the heart of social policies for the last 60 years, and it hasn’t worked out very well for society, or for fathers, mothers, or children. There have always been “hard cases,” but I would argue that more social misery results when you remove honor and authority from fathers.

Back in the 1950s no one in North America was forced into anything. If a man in that era wanted to get a professional license, a well-paying (or even decent) job at a factory, a mortgage, a membership in the Masons/Elks/Kiwanis, he had to be married. Marriage was a requirement and that was stated up front, boldly, so nobody had any misunderstandings. Read old 20th century newspapers and the want ads will often state, down at the bottom “MARRIED MEN ONLY”.

Those men who did not want to marry could find work as manual laborers, or they could open a semi-shady business (used cars, etc.) or they could work the carnival, or whatever. The few playas and homos who were born into great wealth excepted, this was the life of the playboy.

On the flip side, a woman who had a baby out of wedlock was expected to a. marry a plausible father or b. give the baby up to a normal couple. There were no fool “proud and empowered single moms”. Women who never married were not entitled to a penny of the man’s money, and they weren’t entitled to welfare either — that was for widows and sincere people who were down on their luck. A few of these skanks lived as burdens to their parents, but most got the idea.

So you see, all this society has to do is to cut off the free ride (money and sex) for unmarried people, and citizens will make the productive choices all on their own. It couldn’t be simpler, really.

  195. Eve says:

I see a lot of people claiming that the sexual revolution “works” for the upper middle class people I guess that all depends on how one defines “works” seeing as this class is growing smaller and let’s be real the upper elites aren’t having any kids and many are no longer marrying. I mean yes they are doing better then the poor (in marriage rates and finiances to say the least) but it’s not because of the sexual revolution it’s despite it. The question is not whether or not these UMC people are doing well compared to the poor it’s are they doing as well as the people in their class who don’t partake in the culture. That answer is no. Divorce rates are astronomical compared to a post sexual revolution America and the out of wedlock birth rate has risen for all classes. The UMC Would always have been better offthen the poor, that is, there would always be a poor class so to make this comparison is quite useless. What we see with the UMC today is a bunch of really smart overachievers getting married at 37 and producing one or two chilren via fertility treatments which will be pawned onto some lower class child care provider. After years of ADHD meds and then the zoloft or perhaps an eating disorder to cope with mommy and daddy’s divorce these children are growing up to be anxious and neurotic SJWs who will have even less children then their parents. So even for the UMC model is unsustainable i.e. not working at all. The problem is the lag between the bad behaviors and the bad outcomes. For the poorer less talented of society the lag is little less (though highly buffered by social welfare programs) so it’s more apparent that there is a problem but don’t mistake working for now with working over all. If we really examine it we would find that the model is not even designed to work, society did not move towards this model to be more efficient or pragmatic it’s more so indulgence and nihilism driving this that was spawened as a side effect of ubiquitous contraceptive use which has tricked us all into believing women are men and that all their “short comings” came down to “oppression” rather than the massive investment women make to bring forth and raise children.

Right. Because married men tend to be more stable and have more incentive to work harder and keep their job, which also makes them more loyal to the company (Not really. They’re actually being more loyal to their families).

“Those men who did not want to marry could find work as manual laborers, or they could open a semi-shady business (used cars, etc.) or they could work the carnival, or whatever. The few playas and homos who were born into great wealth excepted, this was the life of the playboy.”

Simple, yes. Easy? No. But, as the esteemed Mr. Stein said, something that can’t go on for ever, won’t. At some point, sugar daddy government will run out of other people’s money and the checks will stop, but that means a whole lot of misery for a whole lot of people. See Venezuela.

It is hard to switch if it is a violation of what is believed to be best now. when I commented on the black families being a prime place to start it was for the reason that community is suffering enough and the belief that suffer is from racism and not enough matriarchy like the rest of the west thinks. Respect for married fathers to prevent fatherless children may go over better due to 3 to 4 hundred murders a year in many of those communities. Finding an actual married couple there maybe asking for too much but hey you have to start some where. When respect to family men is law and policy the results will be a man motivated for his family. It will be the same sacrifice ridiculed by red pill men today (correctly) with the subtle change that rather than punished by law he is merely respected by law and not punished even if not directly rewarded by the state.(wrong) His rewards are based on his efforts The greatest incentive there is in this world. By default such men will be more attractive based on what we know of female nature. That is why only married men are respected. It is not enough to be a father. That is how you control female behavior with out the nonexistent female agency
Just realize your comment is where the inside the box logic of a collapse being the only hope. Not so sure on that because what happens is when a belief system is in place and becomes the identity of a race and culture a civil war or collapse will be rather than fight for liberty and solid families the fight will be for who gets to rule over what we have today.

  199. Red Pill Latecomer says:

I suppose the rationale for hiring married men was that they were burdened with the financial responsibility of caring for a family. Divorce was rare, and men would generally “man up” and fulfill those responsibilities.

Thus, married men were more motivated to do a good job — to work harder, arrive on time or even early, to stay late, to stay sober — so as to earn promotions and raises. They were also less likely to quit and move away, so the costs of employee training were less likely to be wasted on a married man.

A single man had fewer responsibilities, and were thus less likely to “suck it up” on an unpleasant job. They were more likely to say, “Take this job and shove it,” and try their luck at some other job or city.

A married man had a ball-and-chain at home, which also chained him to his job.

And no doubt that in the very back reaches of Barbie’s primitive lizard hindbrain, her esteem for this thug has taken a hit precisely because he did NOT beat her and the kids. Whether or not she consciously realizes it, that’s probably the only reason she has any regrets. This is a good thing when he does it for himself and his family and it is respected by law. A sane society knows this is true and respects and admires such a man in deeds and law. A sane society knows he is working himself to an early grave and understands the huge benefit to his family and society as a whole.

I think you are right. It wouldn’t be easy, but probably easier. Ironically the harder such men are to find, the easier this makes such a push. Such men are a scarce commodity, and therefore less likely to be taken for granted like white middle class fathers are. It also makes respecting them less frightening, because it doesn’t pose such a widespread threat to the matriarchy.

I think the question, for any community, is whether the pain and destruction caused by destroying the family outweighs the satisfaction men in leadership gain from puffing themselves up as the only real man in the room. When we get there we will start to see men in leadership roles respecting family men.

  206. Dalrock says:

I should add that there is an easier part to this, and that would be honoring women who married and stayed married to their baby daddy. For example, churches could hold these women up as examples for other women to follow. As is directed by Titus 2, they could be employed teaching the younger women to “love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.” This will be easier for male leaders than honoring fathers because it involves honoring women and not men.

The only risk here is the tremendous power this would have. Honoring women who stay married will infuriate the women who didn’t. Any pastor (or other leader) who honors women who get and stay married will need to be prepared to be called every name in the book by the baby mommas and the childless career women. They will have to make sure their commitment to helping kids grow up in intact homes is solid before facing this firestorm, and they will need our support as well.

African Americans are generally socially conservative, much more than whites. On the surface it appears not to be so, what with oow birthrates and other dysfunctions. These are the surface things but scratch that and you find extremely old fashioned conservative beliefs like “man is king”, shaming, respect for elders, corporal punishment, a love for large families, keeping one’s money in the community and helping one’s own kind, tribalism, a belief that children are blessings, belief in God, etc. Black people hold these values inside even if externally their lives look the opposite.

African American women want their “men to be men” and take responsibility for their well being and the well being of the family. They aren’t getting this but they want it. Living a quiet autonomous life of material consumption and rugged individualism runs contrary to their cellular memories of native African culture. The people most suited to such an individualist “progressive” lifestyle are Northern Europeans and their genetic descendents and we see that it is they who promote progressivism globally, not people of color whose ancestors originated in the global South.

While white American women celebrate a lonely career life bereft of children, or are happy to live together sans marriage for decades on end, black career women are still looking for a “real man” to put a ring on it. White career women find such longings to be regressive.

While white women can’t understand why black women are not celebrating the autonomous, individualist, “child free” lifestyle.

“And no doubt that in the very back reaches of Barbie’s primitive lizard hindbrain, her esteem for this thug has taken a hit precisely because he did NOT beat her and the kids. ”

No. Her culture doesn’t even have Barbie dolls. She’s from the family oriented global South and there’s no divorce in her family, which largely influenced why she didn’t divorce him. He on the other hand is from the global North. His parents immigrated to the US and left him behind to fend for himself. His core issue is abandonment but after the original abandonment more trauma occured on the mean streets of his native land. He never got help. She didn’t know any of this about him when they married. Slowly after marriage it started surfacing. When it became appearant she and the kids begged him to get help but after 2 sessions with a family counselor he dropped out (the others kept going). He’s very closed off.

He’s hurting. But hurting people need to get help before they hurt others.

Her only regret is that she didn’t divorce him the first time he vented his rage on his children. Now her children resent her for staying true to her traditional culture of keeping the family together. Even now she doesn’t want to get a legal divorce, just live separately. I’m all for traditional cultures and family orientation, but even those things have their limits. I told her to divorce and just split things down the middle to make it easier on him to go since she works full time, pays all the bills and his work is sporadic and he puts it all into his own personal bank account and he won’t do well financially on his own anyway. Let him have the money and her and the kids the peace and safety.

Eve, “I see a lot of people claiming that the sexual revolution “works” for the upper middle class people I guess that all depends on how one defines “works” seeing as this class is growing smaller and let’s be real the upper elites aren’t having any kids and many are no longer marrying.”

There’s a difference between upper MIDDLE class and upper elites. The upper middle class is not sexually revolutionary. They are responsible home owners, university graduates with good paying professional careers who marry, stay married (at least the ones to do so the longest in the USA), have children (generally 2, sometimes 3), send their kids to university,

The upper elites on the other hand are the high stakes ballers like celebrities and others who run in celebrity or other high powered circles. They are the sexual freaks.

You generally see major dysfunction in two main groups; the lowest class and the highest. The difference is that the highest class has the money and power so that the resultant suffering is lessened whereas the lowest class just suffers outright.

There is a Hollywood movie with some characters that I had in mind
The father is a mechanic going through a divorce with daughters. A lot of Hollywood drama but he would be the kind of guy a family court judge would look at and automatically grant custody to. The stats on out come look good for fathers in that situation. After he is doing the right thing by his actions.
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0778661/
maybe the local police can get a list of such men and keep an eye on them by responding when court orders are violated and asking for real evidence when claims are made by the ex etc. (real legal respect )
The baby momma is another issue I haven’t put as much thought into but the same approach should apply if after the birth marriage occurs with the bio father of the child. Through marriage he never loses the child against his will. That will remove a huge part of the divorce incentive making him in a back handed way attractive. It will also calm a lot of her hysteria with a check outside of her agency. Then her natural selfish instincts will align with what benefits the family. (know your women). the social dynamic of him being in charge with out having to be some abusive thug may quill the quest for the thug types that have the intangibles that generate sexual attraction in females. He will be immune to the sword of domacles (know your women)
One of the benefits of civilized society is that civil product men are sexually attractive in a civilized environment. Win win for a whole lot of people.

Or better yet, no more money for baby mommas and other assorted pump-and-dumps.

The black community is rife with such ‘women’, which fully explains the greater extent of civilization decline among this group.

The flipside of ensuring that the husband is well-respected is ensuring that single mothers (other than widows) are ALWAYS assigned very low status. Incidentally, this is why feminists hate marriage so much, because their status under such a system is reduced to that of a low-class prostitute – exactly what they would have been pre-Sexual Revolution under Marriage 1.0.

I don’t think you have to grind this in, which is good because I think it would be a very tough sell. Setting the married women up as mentors for the baby mommas would send a very strong message, in part because as you say the married women already have a status the unmarried women understand they lack.

  213. greyghost says:

I never thought of a married woman as low status. In fact in a world of respected husbands and fathers a married woman would be royalty. With red pill eyes today I see married women as prison wardens. Basically some cunt that wrecked some guys life. Unless seen otherwise

It has become the (unsuccessful) mission of Cuckservatives to “shrink” this status gap via making single motherhood more acceptable, which is of course wrong. The correct method is to penalize women who fail to “Woman-Up”.

I don’t think you have to grind this in

Seems highly unlikely Churchians would overdo it though, since they can’t even tell a woman it is wrong to have an abortion.

greyghost: at one time research on heart attacks high blood pressure was a big thing .The feminist sighted that has money spent on male health out of proportion to female health

I’ve heard feminists complain that women are at greater risk of heart attacks, because nobody expects women to have heart attacks. Thus, women with early signs of a heart attack are more likely to be misdiagnosed. Meaning, the medical community’s research and treatment of heart attacks discriminates against women and endangers their lives.

  216. Eve,

I mean yes they are doing better then the poor (in marriage rates and finiances to say the least) but it’s not because of the sexual revolution it’s despite it.

That was Novaseeker’s point. They were well above in average in just enough important traits that many more of them succeeded in spite of the sexual revolution and the time of rampant drug use.

  217. Höllenhund says:

Steve Sailer seems to agree with Novaseeker’s point.

Marriage is marriage, whether the married couple is working class or UMC. The ‘elites’ have zero affect on the working class married guy in rural TN cheating on his wife with a neighbor because he got drunk and had an argument with his wife.

So the ‘elites’ are comprised of mostly shitty people. Newsflash – the working class is also comprised of mostly shitty people. Williamson’s emphasis on personal accountability is not complicated, it’s just elementary common sense. Why everybody got their knickers in a twist over his article is self-evident.

“The ‘other’ is always to blame, but ‘I’ am never responsible for my choices. Because the TV / the ‘elites’ / Washington DC / globalization / rap music / (reasons) made me act self-destructively.”
