Infogalactic

Vox Day has lead the creation of a fork of Wikipedia called Infogalactic.  Creating an alternative to the SJW converged Wikipedia is a massive undertaking, but starting with a fork is a great way to approach this.  For more information see Vox’s recent posts Project Big Fork: Infogalactic and Wikipedia: where information goes to die.

Edit:  I’ve placed a link to Infogalactic on the blogroll.

I’ve been using it. It seems that the way IG generates pages is by the search. You search IG, it looks internally for an article. If it can’t find an article, IG generates a new page and then populates it with the text from the Wikipedia entry. At some point, as time and interest allows, someone goes back and makes improvements to the IG page. It can take a few moments for new pages to load, but that is a small price to pay to eat Wikipedia, extract the nutrients, and then crap out the waste.

I’d wondered how an alternative to Wikipedia could possibly get momentum. Sometimes the greatest thing we can do for Christ is to admire the genius of others.

“Intergalactic” by the Beastie Boys runs through my head. It’s going to take time to fix that.

And, I’m with Cane. It’s a small price to pay, and it’ll get faster over time.

    @Gunner Q:

Wikipedia, if you aren’t dealing with “school report” stuff, is pretty wonky a lot of the times. And if they only find a way to limit the drive-by vandalism, that’ll make it very easy for them to get an audience. (Improving a code base that’s 20 years old won’t hurt, either.)

No, that’s not correct. The information is a complete fork of Wikipedia. If a page hasn’t been accessed before, it won’t be in the cache and so needs to be generated, taking time. The next time the page is accessed, it’ll be pulled from cache.

  11. @The Question:

I get the honor of bring the phrase “the sexbots are coming” into our little area of the internet. 🙂
Sunshine Mary really took a while to understand how quickly they’ll become common place.

Though the comments over there are correct that an AI that treats you as a human and well is probably the bigger seller. That’ll also be socially acceptable, comparatively. (The Japanese jokes about “2D girls” isn’t going away, that’s for certain.)

I get the honor of bring the phrase “the sexbots are coming” into our little area of the internet.

I hate to tell you this, but no.

Many people have been writing about that since 2008-09. Plus, the consensus among the most knowledgeable is that sexbots will not be the disruptor, but VR sex will be. Sexbots have too many disadvantages, technologically, culturally, and economically, to be what makes any real change in the market.

VR Sex, on the other hand..

I think this is right. Sexbots (at least in the culture of US/Canada) too closely resemble prostitution, which has never been socially acceptable here, even in those rare places/times when it was legal.

VR sex is merely next-level porn, which has been ubiquitous in advertising and popular culture since the start of the 20th century. There is no social hurdle to jump there.

  15. Anon says:

There is no social hurdle to jump there.

    -Social hurdles
-Cost (people will own VR hardware anyway, including women. vs. a $20,000 ‘bot’?).
-Variety (the same sexbot will get old. VR is endless variety).
    -Upgradeability
-Privacy (VR used for non-sexual entertainment can toggle back to VR sex, then back to the other program, etc.). There is no real way to monitor who used their VR for sex and who for rockclimbing in the Andes, on which day.

  16. I said the phrase, not the details of how the technology will play out.

Though VR adoption seems to have rapidly slowed down, but that might be due to cost more than anything else. One of those “see you in 3 years” events.

There is truly nothing that they can do to sabotage themselves. I mean, even Obamacare is not costing them politically. The only real election was the Democrat primary. Everything else is a formality. Trump is just a false flag candidate who is an ally of Hillary.

Oh, I don’t know. Female behavior is increasingly explicit, unabashed prostitution.

Their clothes are increasingly scanty. Young women bare their breasts in public as a form of Grrrrl Power, even as they cry sexual harassment if the wrong man looks at them. Women flaunt their naked bodies, their explicit demands for great sex, and demands for compensation (alimony, child support, welfare, lawsuits for sexual harassment or discrimination) should they be unsatisfied with the results of their own actions.

Many modern Western women are already prostitutes in all but name, demanding great sex from whoever they want, whenever they want, with cash and prizes to follow.

  29. Anon says:

Manginas reproducing at all is a bad thing.

This is why the institution of marriage, even Marriage 1.0, is not really such a great thing. For one thing, Marriage 1.0 gave a free ride to generation after generation of manginas who should not have been inflicted on a woman. Maybe the ruthless destruction of marriage by women is what nature wants women to do in order to cut off this unnatural breeding of manginas. In this case, we should not interfere with this process.

Secondly, marriage is not meritocratic. If a young man comes from a rich family but has no talents himself, his marriage prospects are much better than a highly talented man from a poor family. The family name, much more than individual merit, determines a man’s MMV, which is unjust and unmeritocratic. If you ever wonder how a mangina got married, he must be the son of someone very important.

Cane: The cases I mention are what I consider the “Canaries in the Coal Mine” of Internet censorship. If IG can successfully negotiate that content, then it will go a long way toward being a truthful source of information. At the same time, anything that breaks up a monopoly is welcome.

  31. Red Pill Latecomer says:

Anon, that NY Times article is full of telling quotes:

When my son, Macallah, was born five years ago, my college students asked how it felt to be a new father.

“Terrifying,” I blurted. “All I can think about is bullying. … this boy’s going to be raised to feel and express his vulnerability. That’s a curse in this culture.”

This mangina fears that raising his son to be vulnerable will cause him to be bullied. Yet he still intends to raise his son that way.

Whatever my wife and I tried to do to shape our son’s masculine identity would compete against such cultural norms as a postured indifference to school, which can lead to lower grades, graduation rates and academic motivation; a sports and gaming culture that exalt alpha domination (and aggressive male reflexes); and a tight-lipped John Wayne ethos that breeds alienation and, too often, depression….

“If I have a boy I will embrace the challenge of raising a boy…who can learn the power of vulnerability even as male culture tries to make him see it as weakness.

men felt more confident, or “better equipped,” co-parenting “a strong, confident daughter.

Ms. Martin says that her own husband was relieved to have daughters instead of sons. He says: “‘I haven’t felt like I fit into a lot of the social norms around masculinity…. I’m much more interested in the challenge of helping a girl or young woman transcend sexist conditions.

The man admits he’s a mangina. Wonder how his wife feels?

many fertility doctors observe that 80 percent of patients who are choosing their baby’s gender prefer girls.

China’s one-child policy, and Islam’s polygamy, have resulted in a shortage of women. No wives for many of the young men. I guess these surplus American daughters of manginas will fill that need.

Recently, I sent Macallah, now 5, to his room after he ignored my repeated requests to stop yelling and throwing his toys. More than even his dismissal, what bothered me was what many people refer to as “boy energy.” It’s a reactive, sometimes destructive, force that unnerved me even as a child.

I’m just going to assume the drawing is an accurate depiction of the author of that depressing article. That guy wears a lot of feelings on his sleeve for someone hold enough to have his own children. Wonder how he’ll feel if his kid gets a clue along the way, and ends up both ashamed of, and pitying his own father.

  33. Boxer says:

    Dear Anon, et. al.:

I was gonna go make fun of the author yesterday — @Andrew_Reiner — but didn’t have the heart. His article is clueless, but not malicious. He also has a nice pic of himself with his kid in his profile. Not exactly someone I want to troll, frankly.

I think people like this are generally more self-deceptive than destructive, and their ideology hints at the fact that we can’t make their lives any worse. For example:

“If I have a boy I will embrace the challenge of raising a boy…who can learn the power of vulnerability even as male culture tries to make him see it as weakness.

If I have a boy, society will spend every moment of his life shitting on him, in an attempt to make him commit suicide.

men felt more confident, or “better equipped,” co-parenting “a strong, confident daughter.”

If I have a girl, society will give her all sorts of artificial advantages as it tries to steer her into an unfulfilled life as a corporate paper-shuffler. She’ll probably be a dyke or a single mom, but at least she’ll have health insurance.

You can only cover for society’s faults to a certain extent, before the brutal reality of what’s going on starts peeking through. I get the impression that Brother Andrew is close to the tipping point.

Yeah. There is a subtle distinction between a ridiculously blue-pill dolt, and a calculated mangina.

The former deserves some sympathy (but less and less each year, as more cumulative red-pill content is available), while the latter deserves the very worst without any mercy.

It is unclear what Andrew Reiner is. If presented with a blog like this one, there is a good chance he would have a mangina meltdown, rather than innocent, dumb blank stares.

Not a Christian perspective. We all carry original sin inside us. A healthy gov’t provides social structures like Marriage 1.0 that help the less capable/willing of us manage it.

“If a young man comes from a rich family but has no talents himself, his marriage prospects are much better than a highly talented man from a poor family. Reality does not reflect this. Most manginas got married because their wife trusted them to cooperate with AFBB. Status and wealth help attract women but as a close observer of Hollywood for many years, I assure you they’re no guarantee of marital success.

“They believe that through the magic’ you call it black magic’ they call it witchcraft’ you are able to send lightening to strike someone. Can you explain that scientifically because it’s something that happens?”

I’m a little short on context but believe the answer is either “cattle prod” or “Ben Franklin’s kite experiment”. Both would make fun classroom demonstrations.
