Someone tell Gilligan.

From our local DFW channel 8 news: Suspected gunman who shot Dallas firefighter had long rap sheet (emphasis mine):

WFAA talked to family members and learned Brown is the father of 18 children and worked as a janitor at Parkland Memorial Hospital.

Supporters of the family model we are using to replace marriage, the child support model, tend to fall for the it takes two fallacy.  This is of course true at the micro level but not at the macro level where policy applies.  When we removed the stigma from unwed motherhood and shifted responsibility from single mothers to the men they choose to sire their children, we set up a perverse system.  The most responsible men of course are deterred from fatherhood by this new family model.  This is increasingly true even for marriage minded men, as there is no legal way for a man to opt out of the child support model.  At any time a married father can be removed from the home and forcibly converted to the child support model, solely at the discretion of his wife.

The disincentive for good men to become fathers doesn’t bother the baby mommas at all though, because the men who make them tingle are the sexy bad boys anyway.

Mayor Mike Rawlings described the shooter as “someone that was not mentally stable.”

Court records show Brown had a long criminal history, including an assault charge, several DWIs, and gun offenses…

In 2008, he was involved in a car accident in Dallas, records show. Responding Dallas PD officers approached his vehicle. He yelled, “I’m high… I’m high and I have a gun!”

It only takes a handful of sexy badboys to sire all of the bastards the baby mommas could ever want.

This is why women are obsolete. Every action they take is contrary to the health of a free and prosperous society. A woman is more at home in 10,000 BC than in the information age.

Yet another cuckservative failure is that they think they can halt abortions and single motherhood by punishing men. Nothing could be further from the truth, as if even 5% of men are not deterred by the various cuckservative disincentives, the entire program is futile.

  2. The entire modern model of relationship pairing is that women can do wrong when it comes romantic relationships. They are not held accountable in any way.

And too many conservatives fall for it. Because women are goddesses to the mainstream right.

Don’t forget the cost of all this.

Despite the already-high tax rates, our National Debt (i.e. cumulative federal spending in excess of taxes) has risen from $10T to $21T in just the last decade.

In other words, in the last 10 years we collected $30T in Taxes and spent $41T. Most of that $41T (not just the deficit that feeds the debt, mind you) was a transfer from men to women..

Especially since Brown was (according to Heavy) previously the head of the New Black Panther party. According to the Observer, he was the gunsmith for the Huey P. Newton Gun Club, which was itself in the news here in Dallas.

It would be interesting to know if Brown himself was from a single-mother household.

I guess the first thing someone should inform her of is that Harvard is a UNIVERSITY, not a COLLEGE.

Although, quite the long list of acceptance letters from Ivy League universities.
I expect huge ‘favoritism’ would explain that list, not the merits of her application.

That is not enough. Just a couple of threads ago we discussed how so many women frivorce and end up worse off, even though they see countless other women who did the same thing before them worse off. Those visible predecessors do not deter them. And the last thing women care about is their children.

Hence, the only solution is for women to be stripped of most powers and rights. They are happier after that anyway.

Since that won’t happen, the only two possible outcomes are :
    1) Wholesale collapse, and replacement with Islam or equivalent.
    2) Rapid proliferation of Artificial Intelligence into most decisions and the legal system, resulting in the FI being stripped out of millions of individual decisions. The AI will simply keep spitting out recommendations with the best bang for the buck, which will always be completely the opposite of FI-centric decisions.

I favor #2, as any pro-civilization person should.

She is just another mark for the Ivies, who will accrue $300K of debt while becoming LESS (not more) useful to society. Still, there is a 60% chance that some mangina or cuckservative husband will take her (and her debt) on.

@constrainedlocus John Maudlin seems to be typical Gilligan when it comes to the jobs issue:

“I don’t see us turning the workforce situation around unless we somehow manage to transform our negative imagery about immigrants and start to aggressively seek out productive young, educated immigrants from around the world.”

His solution to the problem of so many young American males being out of work is to bring in MORE foreigners to take whatever jobs we have left.

I would have killed Gilligan after the first month, making it look like a coconut fell on his head, a lot.

Until of, of course, there is no more money left for .gov to confiscate and redistribute (or a Maggie Thatcher once said: “you run out of other people’s money to spend”. I was reading an article today about how Venezuelans are losing some serious weight as they are scrambling just to eat. Their very socialist .gov is handing out free food to the masses, who can’t even afford to buy beans or rice on their inflation ravaged wages, but apparently it’s not enough free stuff to even keep them at their current weight. I’m amazed that they haven’t revolted yet, but if they did that would mean they could suckle at .gov’s teat anymore.

To paraphrase Han Solo: “One thing’s for sure, they’re all gonna be a lot thinner.”

    http://nypost.com/2016/01/17/antonio-cromartie-pays-336k-every-year-to-support-8-kids/

Antonio must be up to 12 kids by 8 women at this point. Derick Brown has set a new standard with his 18 children (but we need to know how many babby mommas). How did he ever pay all that child support on his janitor’s salary? Maybe he didn’t pay it, is that possible? Maybe some upstanding beta bucks men of the community paid it for him by putting their tax dollars to work.

  22. Dammit man, if you are a 17+ year old male in the US or Canada, then the first $1000 you ever earn should be socked away and firmly reserved for a vasectomy, ASAP.
Just consider it a one-time, inexpensive, insurance premium for the preservation of future income and personal liberty.

    Defective Father Syndrome

While this video is about Islam, the first part lays out the psychological profile of someone with “defective father syndrome” (abusive dad; separated from dad when young due to dad’s death, abandonment, or divorce; or dad never present). If you apply this profile to what is happening to youth today, it’s obvious why kids (particularly males) are turning out they way they are.

And, where that’s taking us is bad news.

I remember making this argument to a feminist who worked in my office a number of years ago. It makes sense to focus on females when trying to limit irresponsible reproduction in people for the same reason Wisconsin allows hunters to shoot a lot more bucks than does. As long as there are some bucks left the females will reproduce. If you get 95% of men to be responsible and not get any women pregnant the remaining 5% can still impregnate all the women. If you get 95% of women to be responsible and not get pregnant none of them will get pregnant.

That Harvard girl claims to be from Togo “by way of Canada.” Her Togo parents immigrated to Canada, then to the U.S. (I say “claims,” because I don’t think Harvard verifies any of this.)

This mean the girl has authentic African roots. Hers is a far more exotic immigrant story than the usual Mexican immigrant. Doubtless, her ability to contribute to Harvard’s diversity played a significant part in her acceptance.

I’m also not sure if she will be in debt. I’ve heard that Harvard waives tuition for many students. Harvard has a huge endowment, profitably invested, and thus doesn’t rely on tuition as much as do some universities and colleges.

  31. CSI says:

Harvard girl would have to be some kind of rare protege to get into so many elite colleges/universities entirely on her own merits. The odds are against that. 1) She’s a nut.
    2) This is just another case of the fox and sour grapes.
    —————–
The Fox & the Grapes (Aesop’s Fables)

A Fox one day spied a beautiful bunch of ripe grapes hanging from a vine trained along the branches of a tree. The grapes seemed ready to burst with juice, and the Fox’s mouth watered as he gazed longingly at them.

The bunch hung from a high branch, and the Fox had to jump for it. The first time he jumped he missed it by a long way. So he walked off a short distance and took a running leap at it, only to fall short once more. Again and again he tried, but in vain.

Now he sat down and looked at the grapes in disgust.

“What a fool I am,” he said. “Here I am wearing myself out to get a bunch of sour grapes that are not worth gaping for.”

And off he walked very, very scornfully.
    ——————

After being unable to secure a date for the prom, she changes to the story to make it seem as if the men she once desired are now not good enough for her (a Harvard student). She’s the fox and the men are the “sour” grapes.

  47. Red Pill Latecomer says:

I’m no fan of Islam, but I’m almost starting to wonder if that might end up being the dark silver lining to all of this. At some point, someone’s going to have to put a check on the excesses of the women, and who else can you think of that’s showed any interest in a task like that? You might protest that these kinds of men won’t stop at curtailing only the liberties of women, and that they’ll probably also kill a whole lot of people in the process — and you’d probably be right. But when you’ve completely given up on doing a job, you’ve also given up the right to criticize the ones who end up actually doing it.

Hate the jihadis all you like, but they won’t hesitate to say that women are capable of sin, and they aren’t shy about putting limits on their ability to commit sin. Think of it as one on those “jobs American pastors won’t do.” Well, now it’s being outsourced. To wit, Russell Moore:

“We must stand with women against predatory men in all areas of abandonment, divorce, and neglect. We must train up men, through godly mentoring as well as through biblical instruction, who will know that the model of a husband is a man who crucifies his selfish materialism, his libidinal fantasies, and his wrathful temper tantrums in order to care lovingly for a wife. We must also remind these young men that every idle word, and every hateful act, will be laid out in judgment before the eyes of the One to whom we must give an answer . . .

Whatever our views on specific economic policies, we must recognize that much economic hardship of women in our age is the result of men who abandon their commitments. We should eschew obnoxious “welfare queen” rhetoric and work with others of goodwill to seek economic and social measures to provide a safety net for single mothers and abused women in jeopardy. We should join with others, including secular feminists, in seeking legal protections against such manifestations of a rape culture as sexual harassment, prostitution, and sex slavery.”

Not very long, I would guess. When pederasty is legalized and pedos are championed as “brave heroes” it will be time to pull the ripcord and and say bye-bye to the late, great USA (and western civilization along with it) as the collapse will occur withing a generation (maybe even less). But hey, if you want to join the Winning Team then go ahead and convert. I’m sure Christ will let you convert back when He returns. He’ll understand you were only disloyal because He was a useless loser and He’s already forgiven you so you can totally play Him for a chump. /sarc

Please. Right now you sound like a Stanton or a Wilcox (take your pick) who bemoans the loss of well-mannered gentlemen while also ignoring that modern “Christian” society punishes them for sport. Give me a break. I’ve never denied that Islam is a fetid death cult run by barbarians. Unfortunately for western society, they’re also a death cult that managed to avoid a blind spot that this civilization can’t cure itself of. Here’s the issue: If you’d like your country or your people to reach some level of prosperity then you’re going to have to get its members to demonstrate control over their natural behaviors — and that includes the members who happen to be female. Modern government won’t do this. The modern church won’t do it either. So if Islam will — and along the way, attracts a lot of men who got sick of their institutions’ neglect and apathy — who do you think picks up an advantage?

One way or another, order is going to come. If modern women can’t learn to control themselves, sooner or later someone or something else will bring them under control. Maybe that’ll be Islam. But if that happens, it won’t owe so much to the strength of their cause as it will to the abdication and neglect of ours. They may get a victory — but it’ll only come because we gave it to them. We’ve got no business getting angry with a group that plunders a ground that ours couldn’t even be bothered to defend in the first place.

Just for the sake of clarity, I still maintain faith in Christ. But none at all in the modern institution that purports to be His “church.” And if I remember my Bible correctly, He did on occasion recruit the unfaithful to perform His, ahem, judgements . . . .

All is well then. It just gets tiring to hear Islam be spoken of as something positive just because the Elites let them run amok in our neighborhoods.

“I’m starting to wonder if the Orthodox Church might provide a haven from mainstream American churchianity.”

Last I checked, the Orthodox Church does not believe the New World exists. They pride themselves on having ethnic/national churches founded by an Apostle but none of the Twelve ever visited the Americas… which is why there is no American Orthodox. I’m no expert on Orthodox either because their churches in California refuse to speak English and don’t evangelize. Not a promising attitude.

Anyway, there’s nothing wrong with Protestantism. Scripture hasn’t changed and this is a bad time in history for trusting professional clergy. We crashed first but we’ll recover first, too.

“You will still be an outsider Frank. No easy out in the coming mess.”

I agree that if you’re an “anglo” or to be more precise, a white American who is several generations removed from the old country that you won’t fit in, but then again, you probably won’t be able to procure that foreign citizenship anyway.

  64. Frank K says:

” which is why there is no American Orthodox”

Actually, that is not entirely correct:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthodox_Church_in_America

The OCA is tiny, with about 700 parishes and 85,000 members. But it exists,

As for not evangelizing, we have a Greek Orthodox Parish in my town. From what I have seen, most of the members are not Greek. I don’t think that they go knocking on doors to evangelize like some Protestants do, but they must be doing something. I do suspect that some members are people who are disappointed with the RCC for one reason or another, but from what I have heard, many are also former Protestants.

Actually I do find that protestant churches are inferior in architecture in many instances. Building modern rather than classical or gothic hence taking away the sense of the sacred.

And the basso profondo is lacking too. Consists to much of soft rock and hippies strumming guitars on how much they love Jesus.

Islam does not make for prosperity. The only islamic-majority countries that are not third-world are those ripping oil out of the ground.

Islam lacks a work ethic, due to its belief that prosperity is due to the unknowable will of Almighty Allah, not to the actions of mere humans.
INSHALLAH, we will prosper – not if we work hard.
INSHALLAH I will pass this exam – not if I study.

Thank you for the kind endorsment of my Orthodox apologetic activities. Yes, I think maybe a set of permalinks to those posts would be good. Dalrock lets me talk about it here sometimes, I think because I am not an asshole about it.

Every time I write a post about Orthodoxy, I end up with a bout 2-3 new seekers, most of whom convert. I think I have been given a gift of being able to draw folks to it.

No, there is no “American Orthodox Church,” and the OCA is ostensibly the stand in for that right now. THere are a number of historical and ecclesial reasons for that mess. Novaseeker has a better handle on the story there. Bottom line is, if there WAS one, it would probably ultimately be an autonomous church under the autocephaly of the Russians, since they were the first in North America (Alaska).

You have to understand, Orthodox takes a VERY long view of converting the world. They will wait and wait and wait until the time is right. Could be another thousand years. 🙂

  71. Samuel Culpepper says:

This Brown guy is exactly the man around which our modern domestic relations law were built . . . the deadbeat dad. So, the states, trying to ensure that the taxpayer doesn’t get stuck supporting Browns chillrens, designs laws to favor the mother and child support/alimony. The problem comes when an honest man finds himself in divorce court, he is treated like this deadbeat Brown. So, in these cases, the mother makes off with cash and prizes due the excessive reach of statutes design to address deadbeat dads and welfare queens.

  72. Trust says:

A friend of mine was frivorced by his wife last year. We all saw it coming… she was out in the bars every night, nothing her husband did could reel her in. We all knew there was an affair, as did he. So the inevitable divorce came. Here are the facts:
    1. The father was always home being a responsible father while she was slutting all over town.
    2. The mother made more money than the father.
    3. The mother was fired from her job shortly after she filed for divorce because she was spending all her work time communicating with her boyfiend.
    4. The mother was unemployed for 10 weeks.
    5. The mother got a new job in December, making even more than at the job that she was fired from, which is much more than the father.
    6. Joint custody arrangement, but the father has them more than his share.
    7. Grandma and grandpa have them for most of the time they are supposedly with the mother.
    8. Because she was out of work for 10 weeks, fathers income was higher for the calendar year.
    9. Judge ordered father to pay child support to mother, even though the mother makes more, lives with her boyfriend, and he has the kids more.
    10. Father told the judge she makes more than him, and the judge told him “i’m not going to let you shirk your responsibilities.”
    11. Mother and boyfriend on two incomes plus child support minus costs of kids since father has disposable income that exceeds the father’s entire salary. Hawaii, Florida, Paris, and that’s just so far this year.

Yes, Dalrock is right. The model isn’t designed to keep men from leaving marriage, it is an alternative to marriage that is destroying marriage. This is a respectable man who got hosed…if he had 17 kids that he didn’t take care of, women would be honored to let him ejaculate in them. You flip the genders of this story, and Gilligan would be outraged and suggest a Frivorce Against Women Act.

  73. BillyS says:

    Scott,

Dalrock is fairly flexible here for those who play well. You certainly fit that and have good points to make. I can see the value of Orthodox beliefs for some, even though I push a more direct Sola Scriptura line myself.

    __________

Feminists misinterpret (deliberately, IMO) any scolding we have for the foolish mothers as an absolving of the fathers. While no one would defend these reprehensible men, i suspect that even if we could go back in time and castrate or eliminate them, the 46 women would probably have just found different sires.

Cuckservatives make the same mistake. All of their policies are built under the assumption that the way to stop both abortion and single motherhood is to punish *men*. Then when it does not work, they double down.

@Anon: “Cuckservatives make the same mistake. All of their policies are built under the assumption that the way to stop both abortion and single motherhood is to punish *men*. Then when it does not work, they double down.”
    _______________

I recall someone “common ground” article by Rabbi Boteach where he basically said “right and left will never agree on abortion or illegitimacy, so we should work together to end the culture of male womanizing and abandonment that causes the issues in the first place.”

These are well meaning people, and I understand where they are coming from. I’m a father of two daughters, and ever part of my nature wants to protect them from douchebags. However, the reality is that the choice is theirs, and I my efforts need to go towards helping them make good choice rather than trying to teach men how to treat them. If they are irresponsible or drawn to douchebags, all my efforts to “teach” men will be moot since there will always be douchebags.

Fathers see girls with fatherless children and understandably (and rightly) think the fathers should be there, but as Dalrock points out this is a terrible basis for social policy. Ironically, the child support and government assistance leads to more fatherless children. There must be more consequences to the girls, or the problem will never be solved.

As a father of daughters, that is a difficult reality to accept. However, remove all the efforts to solve the illegitimacy problem, and it solves itself. Tell a woman you want child support and WIC to end, and she’ll unleash a frenzy of questions like “what if the father doesn’t help?” and “what if he doesn’t want to be a dad?” … and she will start asking ALL the RIGHT questions. Better yet, the questions will be asked BEFORE the child comes. One of the most effective ways to ensure children have fathers is necessitating mothers actually include the father in the decision to become a father. Ideally, this would be in marriage. It’s sad that we’ve gone so far over the edge that including a man in a decision to be a father is now seen as a violation of the woman’s reproductive freedom.

That’s the point of Dalrock’s series on the “double standard”. Feminists and most conservatives assume the double standard was based on hatred of women. It wasn’t. The double standard was unfair (life’s unfair), but it was based on biology and math.

One woman can only get pregnant by one man at a time (with extremely rare exceptions). By contrast, one man can impregnate an unlimited number of women.

As Dalrock has pointed out, and this case in Tennessee brilliantly illustrates, 100 bastard children does not equal 100 sluts, which does not equal 100 dirtbags. In this case…

    100 bastard children = 57 sluts = 4 dirtbags.

Even if you somehow took two or three dirtbags out of the gene pool, the remaining one or two dirtbags could easily – and quite happily – service the 57 sluts.

Although condemning sexual sin in men is right, and we should do so, it won’t reduce the epidemic of fatherlessness. That’s not because of misogyny. It’s because of biology. People used to understand that.

  78. Trust says:

@Oscar: “The double standard was unfair (life’s unfair), but it was based on biology and math.”
    ____________

    Agree.

The same constituency that screams “unfair” is unsurprisingly the same group that thinks unfairness based on biology is just fine when it favors a preferred group. (VAWA, ‘ladies first,” to name examples.)

If you favor unfairness to women they call you a misogynist, and if you oppose unfairness to men they call you a misogynist. They do so with a self-righteous attitude of indignation seemingly oblivious to the contraction.

Me, I oppose unfairness based on bigotry, but believe it is necessary when based on reality.

This is all tied up with big city migration as well. The black family was destroyed after the northern migration when their sense of community was disrupted, and if you dig into the media at the time you have CIA assets like Gordon Parks creating movies like Shaft, and his son creating Superfly, that lead to a massive sexualization of black culture in the 1970s and 1980s. I remember Thomas Sowell once said there was a time when you could run a newspaper stand in Harlem at midnight. Welfare + media has wiped that out, and now black people are the most vulnerable group to manipulation in the US, as we saw with the Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown incidents recently.

@Otto, As someone who actually knows something about Islam this armchair psychology makes you look foolish. The jihadist factions created by the Wahhabis are no more representative of Islam than the Lord’s Resistance Army or the Iron Guard are representative of Christianity. Furthermore, in my personal experience the only ones here in Canada who actually have their acts together are the children of religious immigrant families, either Christian or Muslim.

This is welcome news, given that our entire strategy dealing with the Muslim world since 9/11 has been to assume it is really a religion of peace that was “hijacked” by a small band of meaningless radicals. You should be proven right any day now in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, etc.

More to the point though, Otto was not changing the discussion from ordinary peace loving Muslims* to Jihadis. Otto was responding to Darwinian Arminian, who started the discussion when he wrote:

Hate the jihadis all you like, but they won’t hesitate to say that women are capable of sin, and they aren’t shy about putting limits on their ability to commit sin. Think of it as one on those “jobs American pastors won’t do.”

As someone who has much closer direct ties to Islam than you, I am here to tell you that you are foolish.

Islam is the only religion where it is widely accepted that one should be killed for leaving the faith. No Christian, Jew, or Hindus think that.

A ‘moderate Muslim’ is merely one who excuses/condones terrorism without actively participating in it or donating to it.

That said, Wahabbi/Salafist Islam is the second-worst ideology in the world. That means that while it has much in common with the worst ideology in the world (feminism), one can’t help but root for Islam to damage ‘feminism’ in some way, for no one else will…

  87. PeterW. says:

Relatively few Muslims have actually read the Koran.

Most get their knowledge of Islam second, third or fouth-hand, from teachers who teach their own preferences with a few cherry-picked verses thrown in.

Those who actually get serious enough about following Mohammed to read the Koran and Haditha, tend to become what we call “radical” or “fundamentalist” – both of which much-abused words simply mean going back to the basic, roots or foundations of the faith.

Islam was invented by a violent man who used violence for his own ends. It should come as no surprise that it creates violent followers.
