Missing the point is hard work.

Trevin Wax of The Gospel Coalition (TGC) asks Are We Missing the Point of Frozen’s ‘Let It Go’? Wax took his family to the movie expecting it to teach them a toxic moral message:

We took the family to see the film on Thanksgiving weekend, fully expecting the common, tired storyline of a princess being true to herself and finding salvation through romantic love. It is the Disney dogma, after all.

Wax was then surprised to see that the movie instead taught a good moral message:

Suprisingly, the movie’s storyline takes us in the opposite direction. The princess who is “true to herself” wreaks havoc on the world and leaves shattered relationships in her wake. Her devoted sister pursues her, even at great personal cost. And when all seems to be lost and you hope a prince will save the day with romantic love, there is instead a stunning portrait of self-sacrifice, described as the only kind of love that can melt a frozen heart.

But then, much to Wax’s surprise, the audience seems to take away the same toxic message he expected when he took his family to see it:

“Let it Go” is the stand-out song on the soundtrack due to its beautiful melody and memorable lyric. The music video has been viewed more than 88 million times. But the success of this particular song leaves me scratching my head, especially when you consider its place in Frozen’s storyline.

If there ever was a song that summed up the Disney doctrine of “being true to yourself” and “following your feelings” no matter the consequences, it’s “Let it Go.”

Thousands of little girls across the country are singing this song – a manifesto of sorts, a call to cast off restraint, rebel against unrealistic expectations and instead be true to whatever you feel most deeply inside. What’s ironic is that the movie’s storyline goes against the message of this song. When the princess decides to “let it go,” she brings terrible evil into the world. The fallout from her actions is devastating. “No right, no wrong, no rules for me” is the sin that isolates the princess and freezes her kingdom.

Wax took his family to learn what he expected would be a toxic moral message, and then was surprised when the message was good after all.  But then, Wax is baffled as to why the audience took away the very toxic message he expected all along.  How could millions of women and girls miss the point, when Wax so clearly gets it?

This kind of mental gymnastics takes a great deal of effort, just like physical gymnastics.

It’s the exact message girls receive all their lives, whether they’re in school, pre-school or university, doesn’t matter. That they can cast off societal expectations and follow their hearts and everything and everyone else be damned. And then, of course, once she turns 30, societal must expend huge amounts of effort, money and resources, and men must self-sacrifice to allow her to achieve everything, including a family, career and status, that she never sacrificed for herself.

Frozen is a template for the modern woman, there is no doubt. That is why it is loved so much.

Also, I laughed, the cognitive dissonance is remarkable, I couldn’t help but chuckle.

  4. feministhater says:

For women, no matter the damage they cause, society must always bend over backwards to correct the fall out, no matter the cost. Women don’t need to lift a finger to help but must be sacrificed for at every turn. That’s the message Frozen sends.

  5. feministhater says:

Conditioned well to see what they should the audience was.

Up is down, and down is up. Good is evil and evil is good. How can we expect the brainwashed to pick up the ‘real’ message when the ‘false’ one is so well told and looks so much more exciting.

  6. SnapperTrx says:

I think Moana was a much better and healthier story for what it was worth. During the first half of the movie Moana, who is supposed to become the next chief of her people, is torn between wanting to do what SHE wants (leaving the island for the open sea) and what is expected of her (to become the next chief). During the song
‘Where You Are’, despite her grandmother still pressing her to know “who you are” Moana accepts her responsibilities and even determines to do the best she can (2:57). Its only in leading her people and necessity does she eventually NEED to leave the island, thereby obtaining her desire by being what is required of her. You can see a lyric video here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnXleA2mZ-8).

From a technical standpoint I thought both Frozen and Moana were amazing films, even if they (mostly) follow the Standard Disney Princess Formula, though Moana seemed to deviate from it a bit more than I thought it would.

Funny because in the original Hans Christian Anderson story the Snow Queen was the bad guy (er, girl). They may have changed the story around and tried to mask Elsa’s selfishness with another, more prominent villain, but its easy to see how much trouble she causes for herself, her family and her people because of it.

Ah. A wholesome cross dressing message.

  9. I’m not sure I get what you’re saying here. He is right in that Elsa “letting it go” and being *true to herself* froze the kingdom and screwed everything up. I think the problem is that even thought Disney was portraying Elsa losing self control and freezing the whole world as a bad thing, they were still communicating the Girl Power/Be True To Yourself sentiment as good. But I don’t see the mental gymnastics that you’re referring to here.

  10. I guess if Disney really were portraying Elsa’s losing control and freezing everything as bad, she would have been an evil villain who is killed or imprisoned at the end.

“What an idiot” is the most immediate reaction that came to my mind, both before after reading Wax’s drivel.

  12. AnonS says:

Why are movies an unquestioned family activity. At a young age analyzing things after the fact doesn’t trump the experience because kids can’t detach and judge things that way; they rely on parents to not expose them to toxic messages.

“Now kids, I know that you want to listen to this catchy song everyday and that it is now forever attached in your mind to the story of the movie. But just know that while you are enjoying it, that its message is wrong.”

Board games or video games as a family would be more productive. There are probably more then enough quality movies, shows, books, comics, and audio books to use as well. Kids need a strong enough foundation in higher art before being exposed to degeneracy.

  13. SnapperTrx says:

Yet long before the series was tidily wrapped up with all four sluts happily married or in LTRs and having borne one child in total, female viewers saw only the glamor.

On the other side we have movies like “Elysium” and “Zootopia” that ridicule leftist ideas throughout, then tack on an ending that says, “Just kidding, leftism is great!”

It’s true that there have been female political leaders in many cultures, but the realism under which they have always operated differs from the message that pop culture (and its CONservative “safetalk” critics) are promoting in these films.

“I am most anxious to enlist everyone who can speak or write to join in checking this mad, wicked folly of ‘Women’s Rights,’ with all its attendant horrors, on which her poor feeble sex is bent, forgetting every sense of womanly feelings and propriety. Feminists ought to get a good whipping. Were woman to ‘unsex’ themselves by claiming equality with men, they would become the most hateful, heathen and disgusting of beings and would surely perish without male protection.”

This idea violates both Christianity and biology, that women in any society can rule over men without profound negative consequences. Especially young women who don’t have a lifetime of humble habits for a moral compass. Doesn’t matter if the context is Polynesia or Berlin. Moana was already fatally hypergamous if she debated whether she should settle for merely being a tribal chief.

And you didn’t notice. That’s what these movie do; they sell evil wrapped in a shell of plausible deniability.

  19. AnonS says:

Context can be whatever you want. It reminds me of a Metal Gear game where the Japanese designer had the female character wear barely any clothes. But it was okay because in the story she had special powers but had to breath through her skin and so couldn’t wear clothes or she would suffocate.

Wax not only summarizes the life of the modern ”princess” (career girl / carousel rider / female missionary), but he goes all weak-at-the-knees churchian and comes out of the movie with a re-spun message about how it’s all good because a good message came out in the end – a conclusion that the secular world would rightly call him a clown for drawing.

I see there is a new movie about her. When I was younger she was said to have gone all Lady C with one of her bearded gardeners by the name of Brown but apparently now it transpires that she had conveniently for modern sensibilities been burning the coal with a man with a Turban. Hmmm.

Judi Dench may be an old bag these days and thus full-on Feminist but she was not always so; in the 1968 ‘Dream’ she alone and in the hot-tottie company of Helen Mirren and Diana Rigg was the only one to go topless as the not inappropriately named Titania and neither of those other two were ever shy about getting their kit off on stage as at least in the case of Rigg I can testify to that – all of course essential to the plot (whatever it might have been) and in the best possible artistic taste. Yeah right.

  40. Technically the guy is right–the angsty rebel girl messed up things for everyone in Frozen.

Problem is, technically doesn’t count for anything in a movie and everyone should realize that. A catchy song has a far more powerful message, especially when they framed Elsa as a victim and the evil prince as the real bad guy. So yes, all the girls walk out singing “no right no wrong no rules for me!” And thinking “nice guys are evil douchebags really!”

And seriously what catchy song does Anna sing about responsibility and being good? The “open up the gates” song? Nah. The whole movie is about repressed girls who had overbearing parents.

  41. Boxer says:

You are correct on all counts. The only thing I’m really sure of is that her portrait was hanging up in the Canada Post building I used to go to as a little kid – that and our capital city was named after her.

Case of beer for my Brother Opus.

  42. David J. says:

Wax is right; I had the same analysis when I saw the movie back when it came out — within the context of the movie, the song expresses what the character eventually learns is the wrong attitude. Seems to me that the explanation is one or both of two: (1) the songwriters, assuming they know their craft well and could predict which song would be showstopper and become the most popular, deliberately made the feminist/no restraint song the most powerful because that’s the message they wanted to be taken away from the movie despite the movie’s plot, and/or (2) our society is so dedicated to the feminist/no restraint philosophy that everyone — girls, women, parents, Christians, etc. — grabbed as good the message that the movie itself rejects. (For what it’s worth, I never cared for the song musically — it’s forced and screechy. I don’t think the Broadway singer is as good as so many seem to think she is.)

  43. Red Pill Latecomer says:

It’s the exact message girls receive all their lives,

I saw a Hallmark movie last night. Help for the Holidays. Santa sends a female elf (Summer Glau) to bring the Christmas spirit to a family that’s become too materialistic and commercial.

The elf is told she must not become emotionally involved. Just do her job. But she falls in love with a human. In the end, she “follows her heart” and chooses to become a mortal so she can have her True Love.

That’s a curiously common story conceit in Hollywood romantic comedies, going back to I Married a Witch and Bell, Book, and Candle. A beautiful supernatural female who falls in love with a man, and follows her heart, at the price of becoming mortal.

What I found noteworthy about Help for the Holidays is that this female elf broke the rules of her job to follow her heart, and it was okay. Santa overlooked her failure. Following her heart was more important than any rule. Santa said that every elf was free to Choose, and that whatever Choice she made was perfectly fine. (Kinda like how any Choice a woman makes is perfectly fine.)

So yes, this message is everywhere, in every entertainment aimed at women.

  44. PuffyJacket says:

This kind of mental gymnastics takes a great deal of effort, just like physical gymnastics.

What you are describing is actually a pain-avoidance mechanism for manginas. They actively “bend away” from red-pill truths, precisely because it is so painful for them. The unstated obvious being that many are just unattractive to women.

There’s a pysch 101 question lurking as to how to best engage with such creatures, but my guess is that they simply have a much more difficult and painful personal journey ahead of them compared to earlier (and perhaps more fortunate) converts here. One cannot “push a horse to water”, sadly.

  45. PuffyJacket says:

This also explains why manginas like pastor Wilson are now in full-on pretzel mode and thus completely unreachable by ordinary logic. As TFH noted years ago, the final hold-outs to the red-pill are also the most zealous.

  46. Yoda says:

What I found noteworthy about Help for the Holidays is that this female elf broke the rules of her job to follow her heart, and it was okay.

For 900 years follow the Jedi Code I have.
But a man I would be

  47. Scott says:

…that could have been fundamentally changed (for the better) by making an quick, easy change to the script.

Numerous examples of this exist and I think about it a lot. Its one of the reasons the red-pill can be so enlightening and yet so depressing at the same time. For it makes you realize how hopeless it is to expect the pop culture to turn itself around.

In the movie “Reality Bites” the Winona Ryder character ends up with the wrong man. She chooses brooding, unemployed, rock band guitar player who is a total ass to her over stable MTV executive who’s primary desire is for her to be content.

In “Legends of the Fall” romantic love ruins an entire family. The shenanigans of brooding Brad Pitt and the helplessly tingled Julia Ormond character wreak havoc over a period of decades on the ones they should be the most respectful to–for wuuuuuuv. The Indian narrator explains this as being not their fault because they were just being true to themselves, so its all good.

And even in movies where the “right” thing does happen, it is portrayed as a tragedy. In “The Horse Whisperer,” the Robert Redford character decides at the very end of the movie to not go for a ride with Kristen Scott Thomas, and it is clear that he does so knowing that it can lead to no good. But the entire frame of the movie is that she married the wrong man (nice guy provider, Sam Neil) and that this is nothing but a delay in the inevitable. She will go back to NY, blow up her family, and come back to hunky cowboy because this is the “correct” order in which these things should be done.

Hollywood cannot get this stuff right. The entire culture is far too gone. It is better to mourn the loss of it and let everyone in the theater “miss the point” and just move one with your life.

On the matter of allowing it in the home, I am guilty, sort of. But I spend the effort explaining what is wrong with the premise of these stories–every time I let it through.

  48. Scott says:

I should add- we don’t know what happens in the end of “The Horse Whisperer.” Maybe she goes home and honors her commitment.

But it is very clear that if she does, her “true love” is back in Montana, and we are supposed to be sad about that.

  49. Red Pill Latecomer says:

And even in movies where the “right” thing does happen, it is portrayed as a tragedy.

This also occurs in Age of Innocence. Daniel Day-Lewis loves the exciting divorcee, Michelle Pfeiffer. Lewis marshals the courage to divorce his own wife, Winona Ryder. But Ryder sees it coming, so before Lewis announces his decision, Ryder “traps” Lewis into honoring his marriage vows by getting pregnant.

Ryder gives Lewis children, then dies in middle age. The final scene has Lewis as an old man, outside the Paris apartment of Pfeiffer, whom he has not seen in decades. But he decides against going in to meet her, perhaps because he prefers to remember Pfeiffer as she looked in her youth. Lewis walks away, mourning those lost years that might-have-been had he followed his heart to divorce Ryder and marry Pfeiffer.

It’s interesting that here we have a man who didn’t follow his heart, but kept his commitment. It’s portrayed as a tragedy for him. But perhaps, being a man, it’s the only way his character could remain sympathetic in women’s eyes. I guess men are still supposed to keep their commitments rather than follow their hearts.

“Numerous examples of this exist and I think about it a lot.”

“The Force Awakens” could’ve been greatly improved with two simple changes to the script.

    1. The deserting storm trooper and the rebel pilot should not have been separated by the crash. The pilot should’ve flown the Millennium Falcon while the storm trooper manned the guns and girl repaired the ship (she was a scavenger, after all, and one can learn a lot about how things work by taking them apart). Besides, teamwork is fun to watch.

    2. The main character should’ve gotten her ass kicked in her first encounter with the villain, just like Luke got his ass kicked in his first encounter with Darth Vader. She could’ve been saved from annihilation by the destruction of the planet. Then, like Luke, she could seek out training from a master before their next encounter.

They wouldn’t have fixed everything in the movie, but those two simple changes would’ve prevented the main character from being such an insufferable Mary Sue.

Obviously, I’m not a professional writer. Heck, I’m not even a good amateur writer, and yet I could see those simple fixes. I can’t believe that professionals would be blind to them. That leads me to believe that they made the main character practically perfect in every way, and the bestest at absolutely everything, on purpose, for a reason.

Also, it’s telling that I still remember the names of all the main characters in the original trilogy, but I can’t think of anyone’s name in the new movie.

Back as a teenager in the 1980’s we “loved” John Hughes films. They were “real” and the stories and characters could be related to. They were edgy………and yet…….

“Pretty In Pink” she goes for Blaine, the rich good looking dude who several times broke her heart and at the end at the bequest of her “very best guy friend” Duckie, he lets her go and understands that she has to follow her heart for the guy thathe isn’t……Duckie was the dude who did stand with her. Duckie was true to himself throughout the film and he didn’t care what others thought about him…..the scene when he busts into the record shop and is syncing to Otis Redding still is a great scene though…..I still smirk over it. Probably because I was “Duckie” back in the 1980’s 😉

“The Breakfast Club” the popular guys (the rebel and the jock) get the girls, and Ally Sheedy’s character only gets noticed when she gets a make-over from rich girl. Anthony Michael Hall did all the work when he wrote the essay of “why” they were there on Saturday morning with zero input from anyone else and it was read in the closing scenes in his voice as the principal was reading it. None of the other characters could have cared less about what he did.

‘Weird Science” we are taught the lesson of “just be yourself” and girls will like you, and people should like you for what you are, not what you have………both Gary and Wyatt did come from very upper stratas of the “upper middle class” at that time….and those girls ended up going for them when they indeed saw how “Kelly LeBrocK” treated them. No character like Kelly LeBrock in that story, they both would still be sitting in the mall getting “slush puppies” dumped on them.

“Uncle Buck” aside from the most hilarious scene when the alcoholic clown arrives in a VW bug that looks like a mouse………the movie does explore the edge and unspoken relationship between the mom and daughter……..”Uncle Buck” probably was my fav John Hughes film for the fact that Buck with all his flaws………..knew right from wrong. Was a protector. Wasn’t the smartest or most cultured guy……..but he had simon pure common sense in many matters. It wasn’t a traditional “john hughes” film at that time….and the story was indeed more about the hijinks of Uncle Buck…..but a really good story.

I also know a woman who has a BA in Liberal Arts from Stanford. She knows all about activism, and shutting down a conversation…..and you can learn that at any public or private college / university. She somehow assumes with her snobbery that her Stanford degree warrants her to be “more intelligent” than the rest of us, and somehow she is “equal” to my doctor in skills, education, general intelligence and decorum.

Bingo. That is why they double down to preposterous extremes.

Using the red pill understanding of hypergamy (which is actual, real SEXUAL attraction), you married way, way up.

And as we’re learning, sexual attraction is the only kind of “attraction” that matters. You can be a six figure earner and a good man, but if you aren’t sexually attractive, that status and money and good upbringing counts for exactly squat.

Remember Forrest Gump, where a borderline-retarded Forrest gets into college? That was unrealistic fantasy for the day and age in which that part of the movie took place, but not today. Forrest would not only be admitted ahead of someone with a genius-level IQ, but would be all but handed a degree based on his jock ability. Add dark skin pigmentation and deviant sexuality to his retardation and he’d be the yardstick for college admissions, and maybe even graduations.

Wax is wrong and archerwfisher nailed it. The parents repressed Elsa’s power by isolating her. Elsa follows the lead of her parents rather than the troll by suppressing her power rather than controlling it. Elsa’s fears of being found out are justified—she gets put down as soon as she lets it go. Elsa was justified letting it go when Hans proposed to Anna–it turns out he was a bad guy all along. Hans vindicates Elsa. As archerwfisher said, Elsa gets framed as a victim. Elsa doesn’t “bring terrible evil into the world” when she lets it go; terrible evil already exists (Hans). Hans is evil and the parents were wrong, not Elsa. Elsa only ever hurts Anna by accident. Elsa rejects the misguided repression of her parents with Let It Go and of course it’s the highlight of the movie. Elsa and Anna are estranged because of the villains’ reactions to Elsa’s power, not because of Elsa’s power itself. The moral is not “don’t let it go” but “let it go + love.” Pretty much Disney doctrine after all.

Something I am seeing from Christian conservatives regarding the accusers against Moore in Alabama is a white knight complex on steroids. They come across like hard core feminists in falling all over themselves to defend and protect the women. Pointing out that the women have chosen to be used as weapons as part of a political dirty trick (regardless of the merit of their claims), brings swift and virulent denunciation. Doesn’t matter how long ago, how sketchy the claim, how insignificant the offense, or how inappropriate the timing — a woman has pointed her finger at a man and she must be vindicated. The only adequate response is the lynching of his career.

It’s like Anita Hill all over again. We are required to believe whatever a woman says simply because she is a woman. Regardless of how sleazy she’s been or the questionable circumstances by which she has chosen to jump into the political cesspool.

Further, we are not only required to believe her, but we are required to destroy completely whoever she accuses (even if the claims aren’t even particularly objectionable). The only appropriate penalty is the political death penalty.

In Roy Moore’s case, the “jail bait” he courted not only did NOT suffer any indignities at his hands, but actually seemed rather bewildered, even disappointed, in the fact that he was such a perfect gentleman at all times.

  86. seventiesjason says:

    No kidding Gunner Q

In fact….many if not most of the “conservative” Christian men in the Boy Scouts were actually defending the action about admitting girls into the BSA. Lots of men like this who only have a “granddaughter” or their own daughters “can hang with the boys” because “the princess” can do anything……

Heck, since we are echoing this Disney song…why not right?

There were the men in Scouting who gave the usual excuse of “Well, if boys don’t, can’t or won’t step up to be real men, girls are gonna have to fill the gap of the values we stand for!”

I stepped down from the BSA in early 2017 after they allowed trans-gendered CUB SCOUTS in. I was already upset and annoyed about the “faux” manhood they were purporting for awhile. They also reinstated a Cub Scout leader who was openly a lesbian, and had painted “rainbow flags” on her fingernails and her mission was to “stop the toxic masculinity that the BSA purports”. The even stranger thing was that parents were backing her up. Still sending their boys to this pack.

I still have a ton of friends in Scouting, and I find it puzzling to why they still are involved at this point. My personal opinion……for the older men, the ones who were Eagle Scouts, or high ranking Scouts back in the 1960’s and early 1970’s………….they see Scouting failing, and falling, even before all of this. They in the end would have to admit *their* part in the reason why Scouting has declined. It’s easier to talk about “back in my dad we Scouts did this, and that” than to actually DO something about it now. They would rather see it changed than dead. I see the same mentality from older Christian men. Easier to talk about how “great” their church was in 1976 instead of doing something about it now.

The leadership that is my age and younger……..most have a daughter, niece who is just “so amazing” and its not fair that “she” doesn’t and “won’t” be able to have the same experience in Scouting because she was “born a girl” because we all know “girls and boys are really the same” and of course the usual smirk of “and if girls would have been allowed when I was a Scout, it would have encouraged A LOT more boys to join”

I have made cases for a space for boys. Deaf ears. They throw the fat ones down the middle, and the big floaters at me with: I’m not a parent, so I of course would not understand / you’re on the wrong side of history / Scouting has always evolved with the times (a straight up lie) / in other more progressive countries Scouting is already co-ed / I agree with you Jason however we would have been sued, and forced to accept girls in the end, you know it and so do I, best we get on board now / How would you feel if your daughter could not be a Boy Scout and she was better than most of the boys at what they were doing

Most of these comments are coming from “conservative” men in their respected churches, many who were veterans, and many who would be shocked if you called in their “man card” so to speak.

  87. Novaseeker says:

The question I have is this: what happens to the Girl Scouts? Do they just disappear, or are they for lesbians only now, or what? Why are girls in both of them, and boys only in one? To undermine male privilege or something like that?

  88. seventiesjason says:

Nova….why do we still have all women’s colleges? All women gyms? All women social clubs (Junior League for example), all women cafe’s, all women sections on buses? Even there are nights in SF that are ‘women only’ hours in bars / nightclubs

Yet women can (and by muscle of LAW) gained entry into EVERY male space in this country and throughout the West for that matter.

  89. feeriker says:

I see the same mentality from older Christian men. Easier to talk about how “great” their church was in 1976 instead of doing something about it now.

This is absolutely logical and fully expected when one renembers that for most “CONservative ‘Christians,'” their “Christianity is no deeper than the Sunday morning front that they put on for three hours each week.

  90. Novaseeker says:

Yet women can (and by muscle of LAW) gained entry into EVERY male space in this country and throughout the West for that matter.

If men have learned nothing else over the last half century, it is that if they depend on today’s Western women (you know, the ones who BRAG about not having any domestic skills) to prepare edible food for them to eat, they would starve to death in short order. Any man who can’t use a kitchen deserves to starve.

Pro-tip: Any woman you marry needs to not only have domestic skills, to include the ability to create regular meals (and not act like cooking one is akin to building Rome in a single day with her bare hands), but be prepared to use them, ALL BY HERSELF*

The BSA is on a razor thin budget actually. What the BSA DOES have is plenty of is choice LAND. Lots of property / BSA camps on the fringes and edges of some of the most choice state and national parks in the USA. Thousands of acres in some cases. In Scoutings “heyday” (1930’s-1960’s) many organizations, businessmen, boosters, and many Native American tribes DONATED land or bought the land and gave it to the BSA.

Today. This land in most cases is worth a FORTUNE. Private property that is mostly forested or in its “natural state” and at a SUPER close proximity to entrances or main arteries of these parks.
So what’s an organization to do that has turned its back on just about ALL its values, and operates on a razor thin budget…..and pays its “executives” millions upon millions a year???

    Sell the land!!!!!

Many of the Scouting camps, large and small are slowly being sold to private developers. A smack in the face to the people who put their “trust” in Scouting to protect and have a place to get the boys into these wild areas……….this will float the organization for the next decade or two. Sure, they will keep a large camp here and there. Sure, if the camp is actually turning a PROFIT for the BSA, they will let it stay open…………but the “outing” in Scouting is soon going to disappear. The agenda long term is turn turn it into a “social justice organization. Activism. Tackling the ‘tough’ issues young people face everyday”

Oh yeah……make it into “the Girl Scouts”

I really hurts me because when I got back into Scouting…..it really helped me at that time as a grown man…….and it just saddens me that it is becoming about “everything” and standing for nothing. A reflection on our culture and times indeed.

The barbershop is close, but sometimes mothers bring their sons, or men bring their girlfriends or wives, and fewer and fewer men are becoming barbers, so at present, my current barber is the only man at the shop.

Then, the gun store is also a mostly male only place, but it doesn’t have the same ease about it.

Lots of churches have a monthy men’s breakfast, but I very much get the impression this is a stealth opportunity to tell the men to MAN UP!!

I want the opportunity to just spend a few hours discussing politics, and making business deals, shooting pool, and drinking beer, whatever, with no women around.

I might have told this story before, but several of us were sitting around the barbershop late on a Friday night getting haircuts, just a bunch of men, and the conversation was interesting, not T&A, not foul mouthed, not particularly memorable. * A wrestling event. In my younger days, I was a wrestling fan. I had male friends who were also fans, and we attended wrestling events in NYC, at Shea Stadium and Madison Square Garden. Wrestling attracted mostly male fans, overlapping somewhat with heavy metal fans.

Women mostly avoid rightist political groups, computers, wrestling. But they are increasingly interested in sci-fi and horror, and especially fantasy, probably due to the feminization and homosexualization of the genres.

  114. feeriker says:

    * Your local libertarian supper club. The LP has supper clubs in many cities. Mostly “angry white men” sitting around griping about politics, with additional talk about sports and popular culture. Or try an LP Meetup. Libertarian events are overwhelming (sometimes exclusively) male.

Seconded, especially if your goal is to be as far removed from women as possible. Libertarianism, a philosophy based on individual freedom, the sanctity of private property, and personal responsibility, is to women what garlic and silver are to vampires.

  115. feeriker says:

Every woman from my church that has come over to my place for a group Bible study always says ‘oh…wow….a man that can keep up a house’ with a sneer and smart-alexy tone.

It’s jealousy. Odds are that these women are lazy, disgusting slobs with even fewer domestic skills than the cockroaches that no doubt infest their filthy houses. Their husbands are probably treated to days of pure terror after Bible studies at your house, as these piggy wives know that the question foremost on the edge of their husbands’ minds and tongues is “why can’t I live in a house that clean?” Your clean house just reminds these women of how inferior as wives they are.

If you are on the sin ERRR…feminist train of promiscuity, envy, gluttony, pride, and anger…why wouldn’t they also be lazy (slothful)? It takes a lot of energy to be offended all the time that men looked at them without their consent or mansplained something to them that they can’t be bothered to do some housework.

  117. seventiesjason says:

One young woman from church once commented “Is your place always this clean and tidy?” with a smelling onions look on her face. I didn’t say anything. I just gave her a look of “of course it is, why wouldn’t it be”

  118. seventiesjason says:

AND…..for the most of them…..its the final rub back at them. I have heard over and over from women inside and outside of church ‘that they don’t need a man’ for a LONG time.

and then a see a man ‘that doesn’t need them either’ and it really, really bothers them. They have been taught since day one that “girls rule and boys drool” and “men are lazy” and “boys are smelly, throw rocks at them”

and Feeriker is spot on……one of the guys asked me “do you hire someone to clean up?” I said “No. I’m a grown man who is single and its zero excuse to live in squalor”

  119. earlthomas786 says:

Is housework as a single guy really that hard? It takes me about 30 min – 1hr once a month to give the place a good cleaning.

  120. seventiesjason says:

It’s not Earl. Throw the “disco” music on and get working. Hour tops for my apartment every other week because I am a tad OCD, and I have an indoor cat. Gotta keep the place fresh, and I am working class…….so my only escape somedays is a hot shower…..hence why the bathroom is cleaner than most hotels…..it’s like a vacation! 😉

That calls for a smirk, and a light remark about how high your standards are…then change the subject.

Better yet IMO to say to such twits “That’s one of the many benefits of staying a lifetime bachelor!”. Watch them subsequently squirm, especially if you mention their divorces.

Oh, there are better choices than those.

Remember that subjects where female competence lags male competence by the greatest margin are :

    Economics
    Astronomy
    Engineering

Clubs around those three will probably be very fun for an intelligent man.

Other choices, which vary greatly depending on your personality :

MMORPGs : While this is online, that is better, as most of the men are omegas outside of this environment. Nonetheless, it is a place where femtwats and cuckservatives have tried many times to commandeer, only to be dealt swift justice in the end.

Any hard core physical training program, like Iron Man 70.3.

Any free-weights section of a gym. Women go there, but quickly lose interest and leave.

I think the whole idea of husbands setting standards is offensive and not accepted by christians.

    cue the mental abuse accusations

In other news, Charles Manson has died.

I bet he got more love letter from women than all the best scientists and engineers in the world combined. It goes to show how diametrically opposed female nature is from what creates a free, prosperous, and advanced society.

I am certain that cuckservatives can pretzel their way into excusing the women who write love letters to serial killers.

You are indeed correct. By some estimates the size of Manson’s cult has grown larger in the years since his imprisonment than it ever was when he was at large. And yes, nearly ALL of his new “converts” were women.

I’ve long been an advocate of letting –or even requiring— women who propose marriage to serial killers to not only marry them (let these guys be polygynous, by all means), but to move in with them behind prison bars and see for how long they survive.

More specifically, and in order to continure to clearly signal what congenital idiots they are, they’ll blame women’s gravitation toward convicted serial killers on the “fact” that there are insufficient numbers of “real men” available to pair up with otherwise.

To some cuckservatives, there are probably only two types of men in the world (with they themselves being a superior-grade outlier): Peter Pan manboys and serial killers.

Californians can now “sleep” a tad bit better knowing this man is dead. I pray that Sharon Tate’s family, the La Bianca family and others that were murdered (Abigail Folger, heiress to the Folger Coffee empire, Wojciech Frykowsk, Jay Sebring) FINALLY get some closure.

All of them should have got the death penalty back in 1972. Rolling Stone magazine at the time called Charlie Manson a “humanist” and named him “man of the year” in 1970. That should have put that magazine out of business then.

Only a cost of 300 million to keep him for life in prison. I suppose we will be told we got a “bargain”

My parents were involved in a prison ministry in California until Dad’s death six years ago. Mom told me recently about the time she and Dad met Tex Watson on one of their visits. I knew he had become a BAC years earlier (to the extent that the alleged change is credible and genuine in inmate lifers), but had no idea that he was active on the inside in ministry. Mom’s impression of him was that he didn’t seem like the murderer type at all. In her words he came across s “a real sweetheart of a guy.” She did note, however, that “there was something very unsettling about his eyes. Maybe it was from all the years he did hard drugs.”

Given that the eyes are said to be a window into the soul, this might have been speaking volumes more than anyone would be willing to admit.

Absolutely. If one event red-pilled me, it was Chuck Manson having his pick of brides from Death Row. If one event black-pilled me, it was Manson backing out of the marriage suspecting she only loved him for the movie rights to his life. Viva California.

  139. seventiesjason says:

To Moonbeams credit. He never signed to parole ANY of them when any of their hearings arrived on his desk. He knew that it would have been political suicide for him to do so.
