From The Washington Examiner Extended scene showing Captain Marvel subduing sleazy biker draws groans, mockery:
An extended scene from “Captain Marvel” showing the hero intimidating a male biker has drawn criticism for what some describe as its overly feminist message.
The feminist trope of the kickass gal putting a sleazy biker in his place is an old one, and is loved by both feminists and conservatives. I was surprised it would cause such a reaction. But after watching the scene I get it. First, this is the nicest “sleazy biker” I’ve ever seen. He isn’t intimidating, he’s just cheesy. Second, Captain Marvel is entirely humorless. Normally the trope involves a sassy kickass gal, but Captain Marvel comes off like a women’s studies major. Think the dour Dr. Judith Draper from 3rd Rock From the Sun wearing a pleather jumpsuit. This all makes for a hilarious scene, but not in the way that was intended:
Now, imagine Thor, freshly arrived upon Earth, using his super strength to steal a motorcycle from a young woman, and then stealing clothing from a mannequin, before riding out of the parking lot into oncoming traffic endangering innocent motorists.
I think I see a Deadpool scene in the works.

The critics have this scene are all wrong. Marvel Studio provides a teachable moment for men.
A man flirts with Captain Marvel, offering her help with humor. She replies by stealing his stuff, with a self-righteous remark. It is a parable for modern marriage.
Wow…women. So strong, such agency and without doubt, the stronger gender. They are simply at a higher level. There are human beings, and then there are women…something higher than mere humans. Women are perfect, after all. That’s why I’m surprised that so many women were such submissive, subservient weaklings once Harvey Weinstein dropped his bathrobe.
Wow, that WAS hilarious!
She just stole some guys motorcycle! Is she an anti-hero?
How this “trope” has changed in 40 years. The Black Widows take on a mom on her front porch.
At least part of the reason this isn’t funny is that being a superpowered individual, Captain Marvel has all the advantages. It can’t be a case of brave woman putting a creep in his place, because not only was he not that horrid but this woman is more powerful than freaking Wonder Woman, and hence was never in any danger from him to begin with , even if he had approached her with a threat and anti-tank weapon. In other words, they can’t even pretend this is a fair fight – and that’s when you forget also that this guy is nowhere near as bad as the ones most of ‘those types’ of female empowerment shows and movies make get his comeuppance by the heroine. Frankly, she comes off as the bully here.
Just FYI, Dalrock. Noticed a typo. Your first instance of “gal” right after the quote mistakenly got entered as “gall”, with two Ls, although maybe it was a Freudian slip.
[D: Ha! Thanks. Fixed. ]
This teaches girls well. They can break a mans hand RIGHT!!! It is such a pile i was a bouncer for a few years several times boyfriend is getting kicked out punches are flying and they step in the middle. And you realize why they fight with pillows cause they might hurt more. These chicks just dropped at the speed of gravity. They dont drop like flys, flys are small catch air and take longer.
All for the honor of now getting trampled by half dozen men. They had no situational awareness walk right in 90 degree angle to the middle as if vagina is a forcefield.
They cant stop showing girls that there is a chance theres no chance. The biker guy was completing a feminist stereo type they had been brainwashing but noone had actually expierienced. Hes on some little sportster how about some diversity maybe beatup a black man for trying to get in your pants with no game? Hey sweetie why dont you smile haha!

I did some bar/club security in the early 90’s as well, and can confirm this. We would be conducting pat down searches on patrons we thought might have contraband and all the sudden a woman would be on your back trying to gouge your eyes out from behind.
During the training, they told us “the girlfriends are vicious. Don’t turn your backs on them. If they attack, there is no chivalry or not hitting a woman. Only defending yourself against a target until the threat is neutralized.”
They were pretty easy to subdue, but those first few scratched hurt.
Mind you, these were gang-banger chola types from east LA.
It’s a blatant rip-off of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character in ‘T2: Judgement Day’ opening scene. Unoriginal and demonstrating that the writers are bereft of imagination.
This isn’t the only line recycled from older movies when it come to “Captain Marvel”. In one air force scene, she hears of a pilot saying, “They don’t call it the cockpit for nothing” with the emphasis on the word ”cockpit”. this is a recycling of George Kennedy’s character’s line in ”Airport 1977”. It was meant to be a stupid joke then, but is now recycled as some sort of misogynist trope.
Anyone who has seen the movie might say I’ve quoted this inaccurately, as I haven’t seen it. It was merely relayed to me and I remembered the line.
Script writers need to get better. The recycling of lines and scenes is getting tiresome. I mean Charlton Heston as Roderigo de Vivar in ”El Cid” catapulted loaves of bread into starving Valencia under siege, while Danarys Targarian did the same thing in GoT, only with slave manacles.
A bit of imagination needs to be injected.
@Spike
If she’s participating in the ripping-off of a scene from Terminator, then it explains why she came across as so masculine and unfeminine: she saw somebody who was a man playing the bit before she came in to fill his shoes. But her poor acting is inexcusable, same with whoever directed it. All of the good films have already been made.

Scenes like this are the epitome of stupidity and bad judgment. Seeing ridiculous actions like
this can and HAS led brain dead ignorant youngsters to actually believe they have some magical
power over real life because they subscribe to a certain mindset…..i.e. “Girl Power”. And so they
attempt to cow a large cranky hardass man in the REAL world…..and end up getting their lights
punched out. The internet has lots and lots of videos available demonstrating this effect where
we see young women hounding, harassing and at times assaulting men…..and quite often the result for the stupid female is a trip to the ER. The people who willfully portray this lie on the
big screen should be held criminally negligent for this.
I’m surprised scenes like this don’t cause cognitive dissonance in people. On one hand women are so strong and in command, yet when things go south, they are the first ones to either panic or just freeze.
Terminator 1 biker scene is better. Hell, the Bronx Tale scene is pretty good too.
This one sucked. No wonder it was cut.
The thing that stuck out for me from this scene was not the premenstrual, snarky women’s studies grad masquerading as a superhero.
It was her horrible riding skills.
Dammit, lady!
Too fast through a cramped parking lot, not looking into your turn, and pulling out into oncoming traffic without looking, and swerving your cornering into the wrong damn lane!
@Dota
I think Rollo Tomassi recently reinforced the notion that women have no issue whatsoever with cognitive dissonance. Holding two competing and contradictory ideals in your head simultaneously doesn’t cause them any discomfort. Because, survival.
Ummmmm, lets see… She commits robbery, assault, various traffic infractions ( I suspect I’m probably missing some here) and the nice biker offering to help her and flirting with her is the bad guy? Who writes this crap? Where, other than inside the heads of feminists, could this be anything but caricature?
And then I suppose that this criminal character should be held up as a role model for all good girls and boys?
Its interesting how she also has to humiliate him while taking the bike. The contempt is not something a strongg male would consider doing. Generally, if we replaced her with a male, and kept everything the same, we would understand that the hatred expressed would be because the thief was angry at having a homosexual hit on him.
Now if both characters are male and gay, then we would be extremely disturbed, we would understand the thief is a malicious lunatic. I would say, clearly the thief has self contempt and is expressing it on the biker.
But what is most interesting is dalrocks observation, that this “biker” is really just a good guy. Hes polite, cool, charming, has a good attitude, etc. so why all the contempt and anger?
Because this woman is feral, meaning she has no civilizational restraints, any more than your average male jihadist has genuinely civilizational restraints. She is feral in the sense there are no controls over her primate based female instincts. And one of those instincts, that many have conjectured, is to despise weak males.
What is the definition of a “weak male”? Any male she can overpower.
This male approached her sexually. She tested his strength and found it lacking. Hence he was unworthy, hence she punishes his lack of worthiness by breaking his hand, humiliating him, and taking his bike. Better hit the gym and work on that hand strength if you want to date this super girl!
If the writer of this scene was a male, then I would say it could also be a r-selected male hatred of K- selected males. But my gut instinct is that a woman wrote this scene.
Terrible, absolutely terrible thing to see. The message is horrifying and typical of Leftist lack of awareness. What happens when enough males find themselves on the receiving end of this constant hatred, and they decide “there are no rules”?
Look to the East, bc unless the West finds its backbone, the future will be brutal. Only the most cruel will rule.
constrainedlocus
Believe me I’m well aware of that, but I was wondering why pop culture has failed to trigger CD in men. Most of us can see that women are pretty helpless and useless in an emergency, so don’t these movies make men pause and wonder?
I can’t help but wonder if 20 years from now movies like this won’t be seen as sexist as they promote the idea that the ideal woman is one that solves problems using force and violence.
“Captain Marvel is entirely humorless.”
Sort of like the actress who plays it.
The trailer for the woke Batwoman TV series is getting torn to shreds as well. That and the rise of Conservative populist candidates throughout Europe give me hope that people of all walks are getting sick of the Left.
I’d definitely smile if that biker told me to. If I weren’t married, you know. But then, I know better than to stand around looking lost and alone. Best part of this for me is that she doesn’t know how to handle a bike any better than she can handle a man. And she’s a thief. I don’t know much about comics, but I think that’s a good-guy no-no.
Has anyone seen Gillette’s new tranny ad:
The youth learning to shave is a tranny, so I’m guessing she was born female, but is now growing facial hair due to hormone injections (i.e., a transman, as such people are called).
Reminds me of this … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTQORXnwJd4
Clarence: Frankly, she comes off as the bully here.
“I single-handedly destroyed Thano’s ship with only my body and my stupid looking supersuit. Now watch as I crush this rando’s hand and take his bike. Because I can!”
I don’t think a real writer would touch this.
Yes. Too bad our cities are overrun with “sleazy biker types.” Where is Ms. Marvel when you need her?
OT but relevant to another post:
The woman from Dalrock’s May 15 blog (Anna Hitchings) has started her own blog and has posted a response to the criticism. It’s the usual stuff.
https://agonyandhope.com/2019/05/26/to-all-my-critics/
Whilst Captain Marvel is a make believe, feminist sheroine, the nanny state is not. That is where feminists get their real power from. The state does their bidding, it will strip you faster of your assets and freedom than Captain Bitch Face could ever hope to do.
Anna Hitchings can fuck off and die for all I care.
She should try that to me and see what happens. My martial arts experience started when I was a young person taking Okinawan karate from a fourth degree black belt and progressed to jiu-jitsu with one of the Gracies. But well this is CNN, Hollywood where an ugly middle-aged feminist who’s as spoiled as four month old carton of milk has fictional superpowers none of which exist in real life.
That’s the fantasy, here’s the reality from 2016.
Note that the “Chasing News” video labels Ms. Rand an “assault victim”, but the police declined to press charges on the man, because Ms. Rand was the aggressor.
https://www.nj.com/middlesex/2016/11/no_charges_for_man_who_punched_woman_19_near_rutge.html
The first comment on the video above is “Remember ladies, Captain Marvel isn’t real.”
Women today believe that “anything you can do, I can do better”, but when a woman asserts her superiority by assaulting a man, and he defends himself, and the obviously predictable happens, then all of a sudden they’re right back to being damsels in distress.
You can’t have it both ways, ladies. You are either…
1. Physically weaker than men, and therefore protected by men, and therefore deferential to men, or…
2. Physically equal to men, and therefore fair game in a fight.
Pick one.
@Oscar
I think part of the problem here is that men continue to want to be way too helpful and protective.
Just stop helping them, assisting them and warning them.
To most women, a man’s advice and counsel is unwanted and/or regarded as incompetent anyway.
So I say let them all learn the hard way. Let them put in the work. Let them make their mistakes.
Let them fail. Let them face consequences.
The school of hard knocks.
It’s not undefeated like The Wall. But every now and then it rise up when you least expect it, and wins an undisputed national title.
And when it finally does, man, it’s glorious.
It’s not unlike young children.
Sometimes they decide to listen, observe and obey, and they learn – avoiding unnecessary pain, suffering, etc.
But when they decide not to listen, not to observe, or not to obey, then they also learn.
Notice also the acceptable face of racism in what is a morally repulsive scene in that the biker is as in so many movies a ginger. Strange how I can write that word but am not supposed to misspell it. Had the Biker been portrayed by say Brad Pitt she would of course have been legs akimbo when he pulled down her newspaper. Hypocritical and Racist.
I am not that strong and have never lifted weights but equally have never had any trouble defeating any woman in arm wrestling. I find Brie Larson attractive perhaps because she reminds me much of a former girlfriend of equally difficult temperament and thus she is the sort of woman I would like to tame but know that those sort of females are not worth the required effort.
Well, I guess we’re all just triggered fanboys commentating about this scene:

@Ray6777
This is too bad, as it will most likely cement her failure, especially if the blog is successful. Her brand will be the woman who can’t find a husband, and finding a husband will destroy her brand.
She won’t find a husband Dalrock. Her requirements are too high, even though she doesn’t realize it.
Her clarification list is just “stuff I like”.
Though you are right that her finding someone would ruin the brand.
Dalrock, have you kept abreast of the happenings with the Bezos?
https://edition.cnn.com/2019/05/28/business/mackenzie-bezos-giving-pledge/index.html
After four children, Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos are now divorced. While still the world’s wealthiest man, Bezos had to give his wife a quarter of his fortune, which then she made a public statement that she would give away half of. How does Bezos respond?
“MacKenzie is going to be amazing and thoughtful and effective at philanthropy, and I’m proud of her. Her letter is so beautiful. Go get ‘em MacKenzie. https://t.co/S2gLLBQyRQ”
(Source: https://twitter.com/JeffBezos/status/1133366998874804224 )
She won’t find a husband Dalrock. Her requirements are too high, even though she doesn’t realize it.
Oh, she likely will. She now has a wide net that she has cast (we all know that’s the real reason she wrote the articles she did and now has the blog … it’s expanding the search) and that increases the likelihood she will find a man somewhere (maybe not in Sydney of course) who meets the criteria. She just massively widened her pool.
Yes it could kill the brand, but I think the whole point of it all is expanding her pool to attract men who match the list.
BillyS: She won’t find a husband Dalrock. Her requirements are too high, even though she doesn’t realize it.
True. Yet she thinks her requirements are modest. She writes: all women like me want is someone with shared values and a mutual attraction. That’s it! That’s all. I don’t think this is setting a high bar.
She doesn’t realize that she’s not saying anything. She wants “attraction,” but that bar can be very low, or very high, depending on how she defines “attraction.”
Essentially, she’s saying, “I’m attracted to men that I’m attracted to,” without explaining what she means.
If she’s only attracted to men over 6’3″, lean and muscled, with a six pack, a sexy smile, a twinkle in his eyes, thick dark hair, no beard, sense of humor, hard-working and financially successful, yet also has lots of time for her, loves opera and small dogs, (and several dozen other requirements) then her “modest” requirement of “attraction” is very high.
@Novaseeker
You might be right, and if that is what she is doing she is quite clever. I suspect this isn’t her goal though, and one big tell in my opinion is the lack of flattering pictures of her accompanying not only the original stories, but (especially) her blog. This is how women advertise for male attention, and the lack of this is I think quite telling.
Incidentally, Dreher understands this, which is why I think he included a selfie with her in his own article on the subject. Dreher mistakenly thinks she wants to find a man, so he naturally did what she has omitted. What she really wants (I think) is to finally be successful as “the writer”. Unfortunately for her the role of Expert Christian Spinster (aging never married women teaching how to land a husband) is a crowded field. She’ll have to duke it out with established heavyweights like Wendy Griffith, Mandy Hale, Lisa Anderson, Allyson Rowe, etc.
Oh my. I mean, they are trying WAY too hard at this point.
https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/single-childless-women-happier-healthier_ca_5ced5882e4b0bbe6e3340b30?ncid=other_topnaventr_coabgdcpxri&utm_campaign=topnav
Dalrock —
I agree that if she is looking to join that coterie of romantically frustrated Christian women writers, then she is acting at cross-purposes and yes, it’s a crowded field and only getting more crowded over time. Not a great approach, but then again if she were good at managing things she wouldn’t be in the predicament she is in now anyway.
Ahahaha, I just realized this is the actor who played the fairy-vampire in True Blood. That actor does good cocky jerkboy characters. Feminists are celebrating him getting humiliated by Captain Marvel? Normally they’re drooling over him.
@Ray6667
Think she’ll approve my comment? 😉
She doesn’t realize that she’s not saying anything. She wants “attraction,” but that bar can be very low, or very high, depending on how she defines “attraction.”
Right. Mutual attraction provides an escape valve for her. “I wasn’t attracted to him in that way.” If she does find herself attracted to a man then the next step is shared values. Shared values is a backup escape valve. Will he comport himself in accordance with her expectations? Redundant systems at work, each meaning only what she means for it to mean.
She might not realize she’s not saying anything, but for her this is actually saying everything.
Frankly, men should use the same criteria. Mutual attraction is fairly straightforward. “Shared values” is the real battleground.
I commented on Anna Hitching’s blog as follows. Will it make it past moderation? Will she ponder the questions? Will she respond? Only the hamster knows. If she does respond, I will post follow ups on this thread:
Dear Anna, 2 Questions
Your answers to these two questions may help you be the woman a young Catholic man would want for a wife. You do not have to share your answers, but you should seek these answers.
Question 1
What do you offer as a potential wife? Or to put it another way, what does a man need and want that he can only get from a wife? That wife could be you.
Women just seem to hate asking a man what a man might want, feel, and need. They would rather ask another woman or women. If you respond to this question I will respond with a description of what is lacking in my marriage. As my pastor once mentioned, “So many married women feel sorry for me because of celibacy. They say I must be lonely, but no priest is as lonely as most of the long time married Catholic husbands.”
Question 2
In the begining, God created man, male and female he created them, and saw that it was good. (Before original sin at least).
What is good or admirable in men, just as men, irrespective of how useful he is to some woman?
I have asked this question on several occasions, and no woman under the age of 75 or 80 has been able to answer it.
Scenes like this are the epitome of stupidity and bad judgment. Seeing ridiculous actions like this can and HAS led brain dead ignorant youngsters to actually believe they have some magical power over real life because they subscribe to a certain mindset…..i.e. “Girl Power”. And so they
attempt to cow a large cranky hardass man in the REAL world…..and end up getting their lights punched out.
I wonder if there is enough material to start a “Darwin She-ward” site cataloging the fate of women who tried to bring yougogrrrrrl superpowers into the real world and paid for it by having reality reassert itself.
This is too bad, as it will most likely cement her failure, especially if the blog is successful. Her brand will be the woman who can’t find a husband, and finding a husband will destroy her brand.
I’d say Anna is quite late to this party. Does Wendy Griffith already own this particular brand of Christian Catladyhood?
@ constrainedlocus
I’m aware. Of course, before one even gets to that point, one must follow the first law of self defense. Avoid stupid people doing stupid things in stupid places. I don’t hang out in places where drunks get into fights with each other, so I doubt I’ll ever have occasion to play white knight, which is fine by me.
I want a world where my wife and daughters can expect men to treat them with respect, and even help them out with – for example – a flat tire, or something like that. We used to have that kind of world. But, women decided that everything we can do, they can do better, and screwed the whole thing up.
Now we’re headed towards the kind of culture I’ve witnessed in the more uncivilized parts of the world, where men beat their women openly, in public, and everyone (including other women) just looks on as if to say, “serves her right”. And it’s women who are driving us in that direction.
Good listen
So cuntain Marvel stole a guys hand with her iron fist.
She could have been more honest and stole the stuff with her pussy like all women do.
The iron fist is a metaphor for the crushing power of The Police State.
Interesting:
Marvel was created as a “Freedom Fighter” to fight the Nazi’s that were hassling the Jews.
Now Cunt Marvel symbolizes The Burgeoning Police State and No FREE$DOM for men.
Because the Hollywierd Jewz sing “The White Genocide Song.”
I have a word for all you cunts:
The muzzies are goona fix your shit!
As sometimes usual:
Christ came not to do away with The Law.
That is a sick lie.One that kills.
“When I come back it’s not with Peace,it’s with Vengeance.”
Meanwhile you lawless spineless pasty faced soy boys let the Genocide continue and spew Righteous falsehoods to cover your COWARDICE
What I find fascinating is that to women, even the simple act of smiling is such an arduous task. If the humble gesture of smiling is torture for women, can anyone imagine a woman jumping into a burning building to save someone? It doesn’t make sense.
I think that is primarily the reason why female superheroes aren’t believable. A few decades ago people didn’t find them believable because women just don’t have the same physical strength as men. Today they aren’t believable because they don’t have the right heart either.
I actually read Dreher’s AC white knightery after Anon’s comment. Thus stood out:
I am sympathetic to her plight because I struggled in the same way when I was in my twenties, practicing my religion, and unhappily single. One of the least helpful things anybody said was, “You’re too picky.” As unhappy as I was as a single, it was better to be lonely as a single than lonely in a marriage with someone I couldn’t see spending the rest of my life with.
So monkey see monkey do, and who’s male or female there? These people tend to be parodies of themselves.
@James:
I looked into the survey referenced in the article. The article mentions that the American Time Use Survey “compared levels of pleasure and misery in unmarried, married, divorced, separated and widowed individuals”. From what I could see, it does no such thing. It merely tabulates the number of hours spent by different people in various activities. An example:
“Married mothers who were not employed and had children under 18 spent 4.2 hours doing leisure activities on an average day, while married mothers who were employed full time spent 2.9 hours. By contrast, married fathers who were not employed spent 6.3 hours doing leisure activities, and married fathers who were employed full time spent 3.7 hours.”
All the rest in the referenced article was an interpretation of the data by the author. Obviously for the speaker and the author more leisure time means “pleasure” and less means “misery”. By that definition, unemployment is better than employment.
@Hmmm
No question, it’s a load of hot garbage. I’m actually a little ashamed that I even gave HuffPo a click.
It’s already coming out on video? Color me shocked.
Clarence :- ” being a superpowered individual, Captain Marvel has all the advantages. It can’t be a case of brave woman putting a creep in his place, because not only was he not that horrid but this woman is more powerful than freaking Wonder Woman”
It reminded me most of all of all those annoying incidents in the Iliad. You know, Hector, Ajax, or some other chad on the verge of triumph being suddenly fouled from behind by a vindictive god or goddess. Just because.
Cap’n M is basically a god, pulling the wings off flies.
Which is the feminists’ global ambition.
I apologise in advance, but I’m afraid these .. people .. understand nothing except Fear, and Pain. Somehow they skipped those essential lessons growing up, unlike boys.
I haven’t seen her solo movie but from her turn in Endgame I’ve taken to thing of her as Capitan Snarl-vel.
@feministhater
The state does their bidding, it will strip you faster of your assets and freedom than Captain Bitch Face could ever hope to do.
And does so on a regular basis. We must pray for resignations and impeachments.
Time for a follow-up for the questions I sent to Anna Hitching on May 28 (above).
She responded that I should send a personal email, and then she would reply. I resent the questions.
Today she added another blog post starting with the following:
More than a few men have challenged me on what I am ‘bringing to the table’, so to speak. The idea behind this is – I want to get married to someone who shares my values, but what qualities do I have and how am I preparing myself to be a desirable wife?
This is a fair point, so I thought I would address it.
She responded with a four point list of what she wants in a man, and how she wants it. No mention of what she might have to offer.
The solipsism is strong in that one.
