Help for a Christian brother.

Vox Day has graciously created a plan to help a Christian man who was fired after SJWs swarmed his employer:

This is an announcement for a special one-week campaign designed to provide work for Will Caligan, a military veteran, a Christian, and a comic artist who was swarmed by SJWs and lost his publishing arrangement due to his willingness to stand up for his beliefs about right and wrong. All of the funds raised will go to paying for the production of one or more comics illustrated by Will that will be published by Arkhaven. The graphic novel – or novels – will be based on novels chosen by the backers that have been contributed by various authors, and comics legend Chuck Dixon will be providing the adapted scripts for free. A Gold-rate team of colorists, Arklight Studios, will provide the colors for the cover at a steep discount.

50 percent of the revenues from any subsequent sale of the comics and graphic novels will go to Will and to the direct contributors to producing the comic. (The author whose work is selected, the colorists, etc.) This does not include me or the Arkhaven team. For more details about the campaign and to view the backing options, please visit Freestartr. And please spread the word, especially on Twitter.

Per Vox’s update, the plan is already off to a good start, and this is still the first day of the week long campaign.

    Good deal.

    Glad to see Mr. Vox step up and do something like this to help a “brother” out.

    (P.S. Wish you elder brother Dalrock and Mr. Vox “hooked back up” again. I love learning from both of you. Always something to learn and explore from everyone. Amen.)

    I kicked in ten bucks this morning and I’m not interested in comics at all. I’m pleased that these crowdfunding resources exist for us to help a brother out.

    I think it has to be hard a nails to be a Christian comic book artists in this day and age. There is so much pressure on the publishing houses to create pro-sodomy content, and the “indie” houses are probably even worse as they feel pressure to stand out. It’s for this reason that I have pretty much given up on modern comics from any publisher.

  9. Spike says:

    Chipped in a bit.
    SJWs have ruined Star Wars, are starting to ruin Star Trek (latest one is unwatchable), ruined Marvel and are probably going to do the same to DC. SJWs need to stop appropriating and twisting established stories and turning them into monstrosities. Make stories of your own!

    Or wait a minute…that last bit requires them to have an imagination and to work hard….

    Yeah, it’s a good gesture. Too bad US churches aren’t rallying and offering overt gestures to their brothers.

    My biggest frustration is that Vox Day knows nothing about comics, and his ideas so far are pretty bad. His Quantum Mortis novel as a comic is a terrible idea, and the reviewer he cited who bashed it made excellent points as to why it doesn’t work. Wodehouse as a comic is a novelty, but questionable.

  12. bdash 77 says:

    US churches offer effort?

    don’t you know white males deserve evil
    if a white male came to church asking for help they would tell him he did not wash enough dishes so God is punishing him….

    US churches need to be destroyed

  13. BillyS says:

    You don’t like his ideas so he knows nothing about comics? Where is the logic in that?

    I can see not liking specific comics, but have any of you read a lot of the tripe that gets passed off for comics today, by Marvel and DC especially?

    Save the gripes for when some really bad comics come out, if they do.

  14. bdash 77 says:

    @the question

    Christian pastors would be like
    You only did dishes? no wonder your wife cheated on you, if you really loved your wife you would have cooked, cleaned, cared for the kids and done everything to make sure she did not have an affair…

  15. RichardP says:

    From The Question’s link: “Sometimes I wonder if when the kids leave I should either (a) have a passionate affair or (b) find another husband. I may do neither, but it seems like (a) is more likely than (b). I don’t have any illusions that marrying someone else will make me happy, not anymore.”

    Seems that a new generation is discovering the truth in this question / song. Someone oversold the goods, and we’ve lost the desire and/or ability to build a quality life together with someone. So we are left feeling empty, with this question …

    Is That All There Is?

    I didn’t write that, so I don’t know where the logic is. Straw man argument is the only criticism you can muster, and not worth more of my time.

    Most churches today can’t seem to be bothered to help –or even organize prayer meetings for– one of their own in need, so what makes anyone think they’d do anything for a stranger?

    I’d also say that it’s a pretty safe bet that brother Will Caligan is getting more help from random strangers with this GoFundMe campaign than he’s getting from his own church.

    I chipped in a bit yesterday. Two thoughts:

    1) That was really easy. I’m not looking for any of the goodies so all I needed to provide was my credit card info and the amount.

  22. DrTorch says:

    I have seen churches pray, but not much beyond that. Some pastors are explicit that none of this is the church’s business.

    It isn’t a turnoff for me. A commissioned officer can be a good leader of techie grunts without having the first clue about how the techies do their thing. Although I do wonder at the choice of superhero Dynamique for a flagship character when competing against feminism’s endless Mary Sues.

    But it might just be me. I can’t stand any female protagonist in a story these days.

    Vox has put himself in a no lose situation. His competitors are busy trying to see which one can stab themselves in the eye faster. It isn’t just the creative talent that the big players are shedding for not being SJW zealots, it is any story that isn’t first and last about the SJW message. This means that not only will a good portion of the best talent be sent Vox’s way, but he is the only place to go if you have a good story to tell, regardless of your politics.

    I read once that Winchester used to buy the rights to every rifle design John Browning brought to them. They didn’t plan on producing most of them, but they didn’t want to end up competing with one of his designs. If the SJWs running the comic houses were smart, they would get this. Luckily for Vox they aren’t, so they don’t.

    Dalrock, this might make a good blog post- http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/05/health/why-women-cheat-partner/index.html

    Yeah I saw that a few months ago when it was first written.

    The interesting thing about it is that many more women are cheating than anyone realizes, because women are very good at keeping it quiet. Husbands are, for the most part, clueless — most of the time if they do find out it’s because the wife either wants them to find out or is indifferent towards it. If the wife really wants to keep it secret (and she usually does), the husband is generally clueless.

    Again, this is not surprising. It’s simply AF –> BB –> AF on the side as a progression. It’s polyandry, albeit in a hidden way, and that is the natural progression from open hypergamy, where marriage is optimized for BB, but of course she still needs her AF sex drive satisfied, so this is the way that will happen. The next step beyond that, if men will tolerate it, is open polyandry — we will see if we get there, or if we stay more or less with de facto but hidden polyandry.

    In this sense things have changed a bit already since the time Michelle Langley was writing about women’s infidelity. While it often still happens how Langley describes it (women want one man at a time and have “left” their H already when they have an affair), the rising trend is for women to want two men at a time, with one satisfying her BB/comfort needs and the other satisfying her AF/sexual needs. Langley and the women she describes are still trying to get a mix of both in one guy (replacement for H), whereas the new trend is women realizing that you can’t get a good mix in any one guy, so picking different, optimal guys for each role and having them both. It’s the rising trend for how women deal with the AF/BB dilemma they all face.

  26. thedeti says:

    Re women’s infidelity and trends:

    I saw an article about a year or so ago, cant find it now, about women who are cheating on their husbands, their husbands found out or the wives admitted it, the wives are continuing to cheat, and the husbands are staying in hopes of (1) getting her to stop and restoring the marriage; or (2) avoiding the financial consequences to all of them and the social/emotional consequences to the children. Some said they were actively shaming their wives, which seemed to have little effect on them. Others said they still loved their wives and really did want the marriage to survive.

    To some extent I think the underlying motivations for wife cheating have always been there. But in the past the consequences to wives for cheating were quite severe. The difference is today, there are almost no negative consequences for wife cheating. There’s almost no downside. Most women don’t consider cheating unless there’s a major need in the marriage that’s not getting met, and that’s usually her sexual attraction/sexual excitement. If a BB husband is halfway competent in that arena, her urge to cheat can usually be quelled. That might be changing, I don’t know. If it is changing, it’s a combination of women’s wanting to optimize the AF side of the equation and the ability to do so, either more or less openly, or secretly.

    I think women have always wanted to do this and a few managed to do so, probably those in the upper classes and aristocracy. The difference is that now, just about any woman can do this. Her attitude is probably, well, if I get caught, the worst that happens is we get divorced, I get half the marital assets, if I’m the dependent spouse I get some alimony, i get the kids and the child support that goes with them, and all i lose is a man i didn’t want to have sex with anymore.

    This is one of the results of what you’ve called “hedonic marriage”. The sexual satisfaction/personal actualization/fulfillment aspects of marriage have taken on paramount importance now in decisions to get married and decisions to stay married. Husbands, and to a much greater degree, wives, are constantly evaluating their marriages and spouses to determine whether they’re “getting the job done” in those areas of the marriage. It’s almost like annual job evaluations you might have with your work superiors.

    And so if a husband isn’t getting it done for her sexually, as we find is very often the case in a lot of marriages, a wife is going to respond to that decisively, usually through manipulating the husband in various ways or through seeking sex outside the marriage. Many people going into marriage have the attitude that it will be great sex, fulfillment and happiness all the time, and if that doesn’t come to pass, then the spouses have the right to seek redress for unhaaaappiness or to end the marriage. As we’re finding out, and as some folks have always known, constant sexual fulfillment and constant residence at the apogee of sexual attraction in marriage isn’t reasonable or doable for almost all marriages.

    I don’t know. Wife cheating is on the rise, definitely, and the trends are as you say. Most women who do cheat and stay in the marriages, who aren’t looking to branchswing, I think would branchswing if that were an option. But as more and more men with options make clear they don’t have any intention of remarrying, branchswinging is less and less an option. And most married women have their affairs and break them off after a couple of years, usually because the novelty wore off and they ran their course. After which she gets another AF, or not.

    I still have to believe that most women cheat on the downlow because they don’t want to get caught, and that most men would end the marriages as a consequence of her cheating. I still hope that most men are going to draw that line in the sand. I still hope that open polyandry is a Rubicon we can’t cross. But, then again, we also thought SCOTUS wouldn’t go from

    “Homosexual conduct is not protected by the constitution (Bowers v. Hardwick, 1986)

    to

    “Homosexual conduct is protected by the constitution (Lawrence v. Texas, 2003)

    @Nova

    Turning and turning in the widening gyre
    The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
    Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
    The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
    The best lack all conviction, while the worst
    Are full of passionate intensity.

    Surely some revelation is at hand;
    Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
    The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
    When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
    Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;
    A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
    A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
    Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
    Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.

    The darkness drops again but now I know
    That twenty centuries of stony sleep
    Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
    And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
    Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

    It will continue, and probably get worse, until it no longer can. It’s like how zero interest rate, no documentation, no income mortgages for McMansions in the middle of corn-fields were written until there were no more people for whom to write them, and then it collapsed.

    How many women will marry down? How many men will marry unattractive, disagreeable women because that’s all that is available? OR, will the frequenting of prostitutes come back into fashion?
