I’m late coming to this story and don’t have time to do a proper write up on this (I’ll be turning on moderation tonight). But see this story for an introduction and what looks like a screenshot of the tweet that started it all. I can’t find the original tweet, so I suspect she has since deleted it*.
In a nutshell:
- McAllister tweeted about an interaction she had with her husband while he was watching a ballgame. Her husband has game. She reacted to him with a quiet and gentle spirit, and brought him a beer.
- Ugly feminists shrieked in horror at the thought of a woman not being an ugly feminist, and accused her husband of being abusive. One ugly feminist responded by declaring that being called woman and bringing her husband a beer was “A fate worse than death”.
- A gay journalist jumped in on the criticism of her and her husband (see below), and as a result of the exchange McAllister was fired.

Based on the information given, this merely verifies my opinion of The Federalist.
I dunno Dalrock. It doesn’t look to me like she was fired because ugly feminists complained at her for not being an ugly feminist. It looks like she was fired for coming full bore after the gay man with some pretty incendiary rhetoric.

Everyone should know that by now, homosexuals are immune from criticism. But this went beyond criticism and into name-calling. She should have simply ignored this man. She should also have known this is the go to tactic of SJWs. They expose anything crappy that you say, doxx you, complain to your employers (even if it’s a conservative publication), and they fire you because they don’t want to appear “intolerant” and “hateful”.
So even if you really feel this way, you can’t say graphic things like this about homosexual conduct. Even if you think it’s true. Unless you are Ann Coulter. And every conservababe tweeting, posting and writing nowadays tries to model herself after Coulter. (Ann Coulter is a lawyer and conservababe writer, one of the best out there, tall, blonde, fit, attractive, has a wit so caustic its pH is around 2.3, and can rip an opponent a new rhetorical one faster than you’ll even know it happened. She is a polemic grandmaster, and few do it better. She has also been at this for more than 20 years, long enough to survive enough slings and arrows that she’s practically SJW-proof.)
McAllister, I know Ann Coulter, I’ve read her writings and seen her engage opponents. You’re no Ann Coulter.
Paradoxically, Ben Shapiro and co booting her over this is the gayest thing about this whole exchange.

Also, Coulter is a country club Republican. Though she talks conservatism and is one of its most vociferous and passionate proponents, and one of modern liberalism’s most vicious attackers, she doesn’t really live the conservatism she preaches. She is not a traditional conservative and has never lived as one. She has worked her entire life. Cornell Law, clerked for a US Court of Appeals judge out of school. A clerkship for a US Court of Appeals judge is an excellent plum job, after which you can write your own ticket. It’s one of the best jobs a newly minted lawyer can get.
Only the very best or well connected students get those jobs.) She got out of practicing law, then worked for a congressional committee for a while, then got into writing. That led to the very lucrative conservative commentator/talking head gigs and a weekly syndicated column. She is the true “Strong Independent Woman”.
Coulter has been engaged several times, but has never married and has no children. She has had some high profile relationships with some famous men, including Bob Guccione Jr. (namesake of his father, the Penthouse magazine publisher), Dinesh D’Souza, and Andrew Stein, president of the New York City Council, and a liberal democrat. She favors 60s and 70s style “hippie” music.
So she very much touts conservatism; but lives very much as a moderate/liberal. In that vein she closely reflects the zeitgeist of modern conservatism: Fiscal conservatism, against the nutcase far left, but privately, having intimate personal relationships outside marriage, and flitting from one relationship to another.

EXACTLY had she kept quiet and let it roll off her back, like it appeared she was doing with the women commenters, this probably would have fizzled out.
Lesson for us all. IF you must use social media, do so with the utmost care and if you make a post that results in a negative backlash or a personal attack against you (or even a loved one) NEVER RESPOND, NEVER ENGAGE.
Best options are to ignore and let it burn out, or delete (never truly possible) the post/conversation, and preferably get off social media, unless its absolutely needed for your business/brand.

It is never a good idea to discuss politics on social media. Ever. First off it’s a huge time suck. Second, if you’re any kind of public figure, whatever you say on social media will never ever go away. My firm has policies on how its employees are to conduct themselves on social media for this very reason.

McAllister’s mistake was forgetting that the fight about gay stuff (rights, acceptance, marriage) is done and dusted … the traditionalist side got smoked, period. Rolled. SSM is also now *popular* (majorities support it in virtually every state .. something like 45+ of the states), and of course we know how the polling looks on that by age. The issue is over, and the critics lost.
So given that the issue has been lost, it is not permitted to say things like she did — even to say things milder like ‘yes that pseudo-marriage you’re in…’ or something like that is a no-go. You certainly can’t openly talk about actual sodomy. No-one will put up with that. That is a fact of life, it is a part of the new social order. You can say whatever you like, but some things will incur a substantial social penalty if said publicly, and that can include losing your livelihood, and yes conservatives will do that to you as well for the very same reason … it’s no longer accepted discourse on a set of issues that is now basically decided, socially.
I agree with deti that the country club republican element is a part of this as well … people who may still be personally critical of homosexuality (although just as many of them personally aren’t and have personal friends who are gay) but who are uncomfortable with that being expressed publicly. It just isn’t accepted discourse because the issue is decided now culturally. It would be like openl[y expressing attitudes against miscegenation. Sure, you can do it, but you can also bet there would be major ramifications on your livelihood if you did publicly, because that issue is now socially and culturally decided (okay to be against privately or to avoid personally, not ok to speak against publicly — pretty much same as with gays now).

And in private life, I have no problem treating trans women as women if they look and dress female and take on a female name. Everyone knows they have sex with each other. Everyone knows, in the vaguest of terms, what kinds of sex they have together. If you’re so inclined you can watch videos of gay porn to see for yourself what they do.
That said, no one, not even the most virulent conservative critics of homosexuals, talked in graphic terms about that sex, what they do, and how they do it. And you certainly did not ever attack someone with it. Because even people on your own side will be horrified at it. Not that people do it; but that you’re talking about it and criticizing others for doing it.
To me, that’s what this whole kerfuffle is about.

I think you’re missing the point of Deti’s and others analysis. It isn’t that they don’t support her, it’s that they’re pointing out she wasn’t fired because feminists got angry and bitter about her being a proper wife and mother but rather because she spoke badly of a gay man, more especially of gay sex itself and in tones that were upsetting to their fragile ears.
They’re not defending her firing. They’re pointing out the underlying reason.

Yes, the gay battle was lost. But if we’re ever to roll back the cultural Left, we’ll eventually have to re-fight battles that were lost in previous years. And that will require martyrs.
When she spoke out, others who think that way suddenly realized, “Hey, I’m not alone.” And when she was fired, it further exposed fake conservativism. So she’s a martyr, however inadvertent.
Dalrock has described this phenomenon previously. It is conservatives and feminists banding together to exploit and destroy men. Conservatives hold men down while feminists rip from those men their wallets, checkbooks, watches, rings and anything else they have of any value. “We’ll hold them down while you rob them!”
What happened here is something of a variation on that. Feminists attack; and country club conservatives held McAllister down while feminists kicked and punched her.
Of course her first mistake apart from tweeting anything was rubbing the noses of members of her own sex in the fact that she had a successful marriage and by implication that they did not. Then she forgot the correct pecking order of the nouveaux aristocracy of pre-designated victims. This is what happens when a country eschews the natural order and abolishes all distinctions of class – a new aristocracy arises.
I have always found that should – say – one invite a young woman to ones home, that one only has to turn ones back for a minute, or pop out for a loaf of bread to discover on ones return that the said woman will be found cleaning, tidying and cooking. They never ask permission and if left longer will attempt the ironing too and of course one has no sane objection. Why is it that so many American women seem to be in a race-to-the-bottom to demonstrate that any form of natural feeling or marital happiness is a form of moral turpitude akin to murder or sexual abuse of a minor?

You cannot bluntly describe what goes on between gay couples in today’s society. Because so many heterosexuals are repulsed by the actual acts, they have made it verboten to describe them. Out of sight, out of mind.

It’s not like 20 years ago, before gay marriage and acceptance was on the social radar, people were openly joking with people they knew who were gay about gay sex acts. It’s just under the rubric of the private which is generally socially verboten to discuss, regardless of whether someone is straight or gay (yes, people did make jokes privately, and they still do, but that’s different from saying it publicly to the person involved). I don’t think it has much to do with virtue signaling, as something that just goes against the basic rules of social communication that have been in place for some time, even when it comes to gay people.
What has changed is that you can’t criticize gay marriage publicly, which is now seen to be the same as criticizing interracial marriage publicly. You can’t do it. You can believe what you want, and practice what you want, but you can’t talk about it publicly. That’s new when it comes to gay marriage, but not attacking gay people publicly to their faces about their sex acts isn’t a new prohibition, and it long predates the whole Gay, Inc. thing we have been dealing with for the past 20 years or so now.
It is true, that there are some things that should not be talked about and that was always the case. The virulent and gratuitous homophobes of my youth are now the equally virulent and self-righteous heterophobes of my later years. One always suspected that the then homophobes were secret officianados of homosexual behaviour and ones attempts to defend the homosexual were met with the same ad-hominems “you must then be one too, ha ha ha” as are now reserved for those who are not impressed by the promotion of Homosexuality and likewise those who might have agreed with one kept their heads down to avoid the same rhetorical abuse.
Were I to be invited to a ‘gay’ wedding or a wedding between two people of incompatible races I would decline the invitation. The same would go for re-marriage between adulterers. I can say these things confidently as nowadays I am never invited to weddings. Loving monogamous homosexuals who are no different from you or I are like magic negroes – much talked about but little seen outside of television sit-coms.

I do personally find Ann Coulter attractive (physically) though I would not go anywhere close to a relationship with her. Though she illustrates part of the problem. No women can advocate for good causes without devoting her life to it. Someone being a good wife and mother would not have the time to do that. I thought the following might be of some vague interest or amusement. I received a copy of a page of the parish register for a certain parish. The year was 1711 and the register records on Sunday the 27th December the wedding of Great *5 Grandfather William [Opus] to Elizabeth Jemmate. The next year another Jemmate girl married the ancestor of a friend of mine the very person who had sent me the copy from the register. There were just four weddings at the church in 1711.
My friend then sent me a copy of a further parish record from 1755 /1756 – the time of (y)our Indian wars when so many brave British lads lost their lives for you ungrateful colonists and when Ben Franklin was living and working as a printer in London as printer. My great *4 grandfather John [Opus] was a witness at no less than three weddings two of which took place on a Sunday and the last one on a Monday. The last wedding was also witnessed by John ‘s Father referred to above but unlike his son he could only make his mark. Schooling of any sort was not compulsory in England until 1841 and so I suppose that William was sufficiently prosperous or aspirational to ensure that his children could both read and write.

There is another economic factor regarding 2 income households, namely that we now live a layoff economy, where a layoff can come out of nowhere. Having 1 income vs 0 incomes (OK, you might get a whopping $500 a week of unemployment) might make a difference while looking for a new job. Having been in the zero income category myself once when I was shown the door with no warning, I can understand. In my case I found a new job quickly but I know of men (usually over 40) who couldn’t find another comparable job for over a year. Some threw in the towel and tried to sell real estate or insurance.
Another thing I have observed with many couples is that the wifey has a mediocre paying job at some level of .gov, but she also gets health insurance for the family, while self employed tradesman hubby has none.
Of course, if women were not flooding the workforce, there might be fewer layoffs. It is a sorry situation. Most of my peers marvel that we are single income and I constantly hear “how do you manage to get by?”. Of course, I don’t drive a $50K car like they do.
Especially since it’s portrayed that way EVERYWHERE now. In TV commercials (Heineken had a revolting Thanksgiving TV ad), TV, movies, everywhere.

I don’t need to tell you that everyone was portrayed as deviant, adulterous or sinister. Living in 1980’s Northern Upstate New York, you could not get by on a single income unless: hubby was a doctor, engineer, or had some professional job and made the commute to Albany or Montreal over the border. Paper mills gone, lumbering was seasonal part time and very selective and sporadic. Tourism was the mainstay….and was summers. My father was a Union carpenter (who was out of work many winters growing up) and mom was a nurse who made the two hour drive south to Albany to work at the Veterans Hospital. Never had luxury cars growing up either. A new Plymouth or Dodge was in the driveway every five years or so…….and dad’s Dodge truck was usually run hard for a solid ten years
But again…it’s so easy to be a one income household. Simple.

I’ve been pondering recently how both Heaven and Hell might be described in visual terms that the feeble human mind (compared to God’s incomprehensible power and works) can grasp. I think that Hell will resemble an endless, teeming, fetid slum (imagine the worst of Calcutta, Cairo, and the Favelas of Rio all rolled into one) with no room to even turn around and constant temperatures averaging 200 degrees Celsius.
Heaven, on the other hand, will resemble Siberia or the Yukon Territory, but with much nicer climate. That is, it will consist of vast swaths of uninhabited territory, punctuated by small clusters of inhabited space (another way to picture it is the geographical continental United States having a population no larger than that of Wyoming).
If trends continue, that’s what both places will look like, as conceived by the limited human mind.

Matthew 7:13-14 records that Jesus said:

The good news, is that the requirements to get into heaven are VERY short. Only two in fact. Romans (in the Bible) says:
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[a] 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Of course, the difficult part is accepting Jesus as your Lord. (Master/king would communicate the idea, since “Lord” is not is common use in English, as it was in 1611.
No need to be part of the “right” religious group, or pay enough money to some charlatan. Give your life and obedience to Jesus, believe, and you are in.

Yes, and you have my compassion. The risks are always there, and success is never assured.
This does seem to be the norm in the UMC these days. They have one, because two or more would be to stressful given that their careers come first, not to mention the cost. It seems that every $200K+ couple I know has at most one kid, though there are outliers, especially when the UMC wife is stay at home.

We don’t really know that by “few,” Christ meant “almost nobody.” Translations of the Bible (including Luther’s, incidentally) deviate from previous versions, often because of vagaries of language, sometimes because of translator agenda. There are three different arrangements (that all say the EXACT same thing as a whole) of the Ten Commandments, for instance.
Again: Humans are created by God to be weak and vulnerable, subject to frequent suffering and constant temptation (even the zealous St. Paul sinned). Humans have it a whole lot harder than angels, despite being (almost) infinitely weaker, than angels. Only one third of angels went to Hell–but almost all humans will?
Only a pitiless ogre–like Zeus (or for that matter Allah)–would create uncounted creatures destined for eternal destruction. And all the Bible quotations, especially taking into account the thousands of years and a dozen (or more) translations (and especially interpretations) don’t explain the logical irrationality of this scenario. And God is supremely rational.
The offer of salvation is for everyone. That so many have chosen and will choose to reject it does not discount divine mercy.

The God you present has created billions upon billions of vulnerable creatures, knowing that due to this vulnerability, almost all of them are doomed.
It’s like a teacher giving a test that he knows all but a tiny handful of his students will pass: I gave them all the material they needed; it’s up to them to pass. Any teacher who knowingly gives a test too tough for all but a few students to pass is a bad, even wicked, teacher.
Presumably God is infinitely wiser, more merciful, and more just than any earthly teacher. You don’t pass just because you show up. But I’m guessing God gives a lot more partial credit than some would think.
In your teacher / bad test example, the teacher is deliberately making the test so hard that few will pass.
With God however, the “pass” requirements are very low. Simply submit to God and believe. Not a high standard.
Now yes, due to natural selfishness, many would choose to not obey. But that does not mean that the test is too hard. A better teacher/test example would be a teacher who has taken over a class of supremely lazy students. Despite making the test easy, the students still mostly fail.
You are correct that we are called to work for God. But the Bible is also clear that the works we do, do NOT save us. Ephesians 2:8-10 is a favourite passage of mine, because that passage addresses both the idea that works do not save us, and also the idea that we are created to do good works. Yes, work. But no, the works do not save. Which is pretty good for us, as that would mean that we would have to work hard to meet the “passing grade”. Instead, we can submit and believe, be a fairly poor or middling student, and still get in to heaven.
